Reviews

Love love love buying these jars for building terrariums, unfortunately the last one I bought is misshapen and uneven on the bottom. The jar rocks back and forth on any flat surface. The handful of other ones I’ve purchased do not have this issue though.

This item just came broken to little pieces!!!! What is wrong with your employees?!!! the box it came in looked like it had been in a hurricane. The tape used to secure it was all broken! I want my money returned for the item. I suggest you start training your employees to handle customers orders with better care! over $12.00 for a container i cannot use!!!!

No air tight seal

I was searching for a 2 gal glass jar with an air tight seal and this popped up. The size and price and quality was perfect. So I bought this thinking that it had an air tight seal until I received it. I was truly disappointed but I went to see if I could find a silicone seal ring to put on it but could not find one that fit the size. I'm using it now for mixing ingredients instead of storage.

Classic Design! Wonderfully Priced!

I love how they fit in any venue and the style is timeless. They work beautifully in my kitchen as flour and sugar containers, and as a snack container. Glass tops are so sturdy I have no worries about the kids getting their own snack. I love them so much, I have gifted them often. I’ve even had calls from relatives wanting to know where I bought them. Very affordable to top it off!

cracked within a week

i liked the bigger size. i bought these for fermenting. within a week both jars cracked along the bottom. they were half full, with the lid off, so they had no pressure. the quality of the glass was poor, and both jars started leaking liquid from a large Crack along the bottom seam. This brand was once known as being the best. the quality has changed. to have both jars start leaking shows it's poor quality workmanship.

Shipping Needs Packing Material

The item itself was top quality; however, they were not packed with any padding. There jars were delivered in one box, each jar inside its own box, but there was no padding or shipping peanuts inside the larger box. Two of the jars were shattered. Only one survived. I returned all 5 that I purchased as I needed them for a project the next day.

I love Anchor Hocking

These come is different sizes to suit your needs. They are made of glass in USA (Lancaster, OH). I use the 1 gallon for flour, the half gallon for quinoa and 3 quart for rice. I think I bought the 3 quart one somewhere else. I went on Etsy and found made in USA rubber gaskets from rubberstoppers. The seller at rubberstoppers make it super easy to choose the rights sizes. So far as I can tell there is no difference (i.e. smell, texture or taste) when I compare with what I have in the glass canisters versus a new bag of flour, quinoa or rice after 6-8 weeks of use getting into the canisters on average of 2x weekly.

Exceptionally well made, understated, wavy patina

Very large opening and is great for dry goods. Solid glass top is made with thick glass and no hint of casting lines or marks. It looks hand blown although I know it's not. This is a quality, robustly constructed piece of glass with hints of wavy-ness that reminds me of late 19th century blown glass. My one issue is the manufacturer warns of rapid temp change and using with hot liquids. A temperature range is not provided so I'll assume they mean boiling water. I'll be using it in that capacity and know know I must warm the jar prior to pouring in boiling water. No problem for my planned use, but I'd prefer not having to worry about it. I most certainly would buy again.

I would love to give 5 stars but….

I ordered two as a gift , when they arrived one was broken, these things happen. Sent the broken back, ordered a replacement . Replacement was delayed due to damage. I just gave up and got a refund. But the one that arrived in tact is beautiful and very well made. It’s heavy. The person I gave it to loves it. I would love to get a second one.

Anchor Hocking glass jars

Really like these for flour, rice, coffee beans, even laundry detergent. Right now I just have a lot of flour in them cause I do a lot of baking. They’re beautiful. The only down side was the packaging, one broke in transit. Instead of standing them up in the huge box and putting the dividers in between, they laid them down so there was a lot of empty space in the huge box for them to move around. Since they were also wrapped in brown paper I cut myself lifting it out because you can’t see that it’s broken. So I returned the broken one to the store and showed the clerk a pic of how they packaged it so she can pass it on to whoever. But she said they come from the warehouse so they have no control. As if there’s no general manager for this area. I would order them again but pick them up at the store.

LOVE IT!

I was looking for something to put my Betta(fish) in that wouldn't break the bank! I found this! I couldn't believe the price for something so large, such thick glass, and the lid was just a bonus! Bought 3, 2 for Bettas, and 1 for an actual beautiful canister for large amounts of food storage! Can't say enough great things, and they even shipped it!

Aesthetically Nice But…

I bought this because it’s advertised for food storage. But there’s no silicone seal to ensure that air and pests can’t get in. I feel as though this is a primary requirement for food storage especially for a container this size. I purchase food items in bulk and wanted something to store my Powdered Sugar in. This isn’t the best solution for that. So I had to store it in the ag it came in, I side this container. Not the look I was going for.

Never received. This is the third item so far

The third item I haven’t received, but once again, Walmart gave me a refund. I was really looking forward to this though so I am going to attempt another order. I can get it here for regular price, while this is the *sale* price from competitors. I’m sure I’ll be 100% satisfied if I can manage to get one delivered. These 2 gallon jars are MASSIVE

Love, Love, Love!!

I ordered these to be delivered last minute before Thanksgiving. I wasn’t sure what to expect since I hadn’t seen them in person, but I was pleasantly surprised! They’re large, well made, and pretty. I can use them for storage purposes or to decorate, they’re versatile and affordable. I definitely recommend these to others!

No seal is disappointing - hack below

Nice big jar. 5 stars if it had a seal on the lid. I looked around for jar gaskets and couldn't find one that would work. I found a simple solution though

Glaring decrease in quality.

I bought three of these canisters a few years ago and I love them. I just bought two more, and I can’t believe they are the same product. I opened the first one and immediately noticed a lot of imperfections in the glass: bubbles, wavy-looking lines, several rough-feeling areas on the inside, and an uneven place on the rim. There’s also a sharp cut in the glass that the tip of a knife fits in. Imagine my surprise when I opened the second box and found that canister to have many of the same flaws as well as a couple of rough, white spots. I seldom leave reviews, but I am so disappointed by such a obvious lack of quality control.

All three jars

I purchased all 3 jars, large, medium, and small. I can’t believe that the large one is ginormous (2gal). It’s really tall and it doesn’t seem to be the right height that would go with the other jars. I have to see what I can use it for. The medium and small jars are fine. I’m using them for my laundry room to store wool dryer balls and other laundry items. They are thick glass and look great but unfortunately the lids are not airtight. I’m trying to see if I can find the airtight silicone gasket so that the lids don’t hit glass on glass and possibly break.

Packaging is an issue….

The jars are great. The problem is the packaging. I’ve ordered the 1 %26 2 gallon jars and initial order that I received, the jars were broken. I returned and received replacements. The replacement for the 2 gallons were not broken. However, upon further inspection I found one of the three jars with a chip on the lip of the jar. I found it off when I was opening it that there was scotch tape on the sealed plastic and the lid had some give. Looked like I was given a returned item instead of a new one. I opted to keep it since it’s a hassle for me to do a return and wait, hope for another replacement that isn’t damaged.

Well worth it. Bigger than expected.

I ordered three; two have come. I sense that the delivery people broke the third one, but I have not heard anything from them or Walmart. The containers are bigger than I expected, but that's okay. My plan is to start batches of wine. I have gallon containers, and they aren't big enough with all of the fruit, etc., but will be fine to move the wine into after it's time to siphon out just the liquid. These are sturdy and feel substantial. I am glad I got them and the price seems very reasonable.
