Arrived broken! Poor packaging!

These file boxes were exactly what I wanted. BUT.... they arrived with three out of six lids broken. The box is not packed correctly for shipping. Even though it is marked fragile there is no insulation whatsoever so obviously something heavy either at factory or in shipping was set on top of box and caused the first three lids to crack. The manufacturer has been notified to see if they will just replace the lids. We shall see!

Great to organize grandchildren's toys.

I have used these clear containers for several years now and love them. We can keep all of the toys sorted in them. One for dinosaurs, blocks, toy cars, etc. These work out great at my house for the grandchildren and they have the handle right on top so they are easy to move from room to room.

Great for organization in classroom.

I have used these bins and the smaller version for years in my classroom to organize materials and for student stations. This year many of the bins latch closures have failed/broken. I wish I could order replacements for them as the lid and box itself are still in great condition.

Broken lid

There needs to be a better way to ship to prevent breakage. Or a better way to get a lid replaced without returning the entire shipment (12 plastic containers with lids shipped in 2 boxes). The containers are perfect for storing speech therapy materials and transporting between work locations.

Just what we were looking for

Was glad this item was in stock at the location near my work. Needed a bin for my husband's CPAP supplies and wanted something clear so he could see what he has quickly...but I also wanted something I could use for something else in case he needs to increase or decrease his supplies box. This box is meant for holding files and that allows me to have a secondary use. I also wanted something to fit in a specific area and this box had the correct dimensions. Happy with our purchase.

This product is handy for small spaces. It is clear so that you can see what is in it without having to take the lid off like those totes that are a solid color. Also it has a handle for easy carrying. This is also perfect for putting in the car for easy carry of items that need to be carried. The lid is also a locking lid so that your items do not fall out and get lost. If you are using it in a car it fits very nicely behind the front seats.

Love the snap top lids! It's a new home for my toaster! Just pop it in and out, no crumbs or mess on the countertop. Fits nicely in the cupboard, easy slid in and out. Has a handle on top for carry if need to. I'm organizing and downsizing. Great addition to my small kitchen appliances!

Doesn't hold folders!

I used to love the Sterilite Show Offs! But the quality difference between this set and the older show-offs is sad. The plastic is alot lighter and feels cheaper. My initial reaction was "maybe these are knock-offs". I can't believe Sterilite put their name on these! But because I need them right away to organize curriculum I was determined to make them work. However, the boxes are slightly longer than they short be! I tried two different brands of standard letter size hanging file folders, but the box is about an 1/8 of an inch too long, so that the folders do not fit in the slots created for them. That defeats the purpose of the boxes for me. If they cannot hold file folders than I cannot use them! If you desire them for storing things beside files, and you are not bothered by lower quality, than go ahead and order. Otherwise, look for something else.

Not Sturdy! Very Poor Quality!

Bought one of these last week to use with hanging file folders for storing files of different categories that I access a lot (Planned for one to be for health insurance/medical stuff for myself, another for all of my dog's records, one for my house's financial paperwork, etc.). I inspected it over thoroughly before actually purchasing it, checking the handles, the seal, etc. and everything looked fine. I put it in my car in its very "own" 'captain's seat' with nothing else next to it, above it, below it, etc. After getting home and unloading my car, I immediately went to it to put some hanging file folders in it that I had been waiting for a file storage box for them to go in, and lo and behold, the side of the lid now had a crack in it that ran all of the way across to the middle of that side of the lid, AND there was a ~3.5" long chunk of plastic from the corner of the lid where the crack was that was missing also. And this box hadnt even been used, NOT EVEN ONCE! It broke at some point between walking out of the store with it and bringing it into my house! Even when it was completely treated "with kid gloves!" What kind of quality is that?! I can't even begin to imagine just how "well" (or rather "unwell") it would actually hold up if, gosh forbid, let's say that I actually put something, anything, in it! I was looking forward to using this specific product of Sterilite's, and purchasing more of this exact same product, as soon as I could find some more to buy somewhere (It was the only one left in stock at the physical store that I purchased it from.). It was exactly what I had been needing, wanting, and hoping that a product like this one actually existed. I purchase, and have purchased, TONS of different types of Sterilite branded storage items of all shapes, sizes, purposes, etc., and I have never really had any problems with the quality of any of their storage items...until now...so I wasn't expecting to have any problems with this.

Perfect for file, or 3-ring binder storage

Paperwork? GREAT storage solution for a LOT of paperwork. I use them for different things; one for household warranties, manuals and paperwork, one for my IRS returns, another for important correspondence I have to save and one for each foster child's state papers (placements papers, court hearings, Judicial Reviews, etc.) and one for each child'spapers/drawings/homework from school I save for their parents when they go home, or are adopted. PERFECT!

Sturdiness of plastic storage

These boxes used to be larger by about 3 to 5 inches tall and that made them more usable. The list of things they can be used for gets smaller as they do. The plastic fragments and cracks very easily. If you drop them or bump them off something hard you can get a hole or large crack. They tend to crack more easily if cold. People tend to like the clear plastic so they can see through it yet it's the heavy dark color plastic that endures more abuse. So why can't them and you factors Infuse this clear plastic with nylon fibers to strengthen them. I'm already sick of the amount of plastic we are sending to landfills. And manufacturers should be held accountable. Their products need to be sturdier and last. Not just become constant landfill fodder. The handle on the top of the unit is extremely handy and at least that's very sturdy.

Good Buy If You Just Need Decent Storage

I use this to store essentials in my SUV, such as wipes, lotion, 4 gallon trash bags, sanitizers, spare socks and gloves, masks, emergency poncho, emergency reflective blanket, etc. The latches could be sturdier considering the thickness and weight of the container but it's fine for what I wanted it for. It would also be nice if there were multiple color options but there were not. It's nestled behind the console of my SUV so it's easily accessible. It's easy to grab and go/move when needed, instead of trying to find a place to put misc items to clean your vehicle, as an example. "Sweepstakes"

The minimal description of the document file box forced me to guess its suitability. Truth be told (only after buying it), the plastic document box is too narrow and too short inside. WHAT ?

I LOVE THESE!!! I live in CA and we keep getting evacuated due to fire(s) - I had my photos and important paperwork packed in larger tubs and in the rush of being evacuated, the boxes were way too heavy for me to schlep down the stairs and out into my car! I bought these and have my photos and important papers all organized into them and at the ready for the next evacuation. This gives me peace of mind knowing that I can grab them, two at a time, and get them out and packed neatly into my car really quickly! They are designed with a lip/hanging file track inside so my hanging file folders fit in there and can be slid back and forth - an excellent product for portable files! The lid fits very securely and even FILLED with photos and/or hanging files, this can be picked up using the handle on top of the lid and the lid stays on tight! They also stack on top of each other and are designed to stay stacked even with quite a bit of movement. They are solid too... when stacked on top of each other, the lid on the bottom ones does NOT cave in, unlike other tubs that have a flimsy lid... these lids (and containers too) are very sturdy and strong! I not only bought over a dozen for myself, and have recommended them to friends, I've also bought over a dozen for my mom, who also lives in CA in the fire zones! I highly recommend!!!

These file boxes are lightweight but sturdy, portable, stackable, and clear-bodied, so their contents can be identified without needing to remove the opaque latching lid. Sterilite has designed a proven winner. It's simple, functional yet aesthetically appealing. No metal parts, No hinges to lubricate, no interlacing lid closures to deal with. Just latch the lid, grab its handle and off you go! PERFECT!

Prefer the older design and colors

Love these for craft storage and modular organization. However, the design has changed which is a super annoying trait of many plastic totes. It makes replacing a single piece of a larger modular collection a nightmare. The older design had more headroom in the lid and I had even found a cool tray that fit inside. They also came in fabulous colors like purple on purple with glitter infused in the bin part. The white lids look dingy fairly fast and are uninspiring. Not a fan. My older purple ones still look great and stand up to the test of time.

Great features and sturdy!

Bought this for our home office space for hanging folders. Worked very well and was portable anywhere. The base is clear so contents are easily identified, there is a strong lock lid and is stackable. After we bought true office furniture used them for my husband's woodworking magazines. Until then we never stored in the barn/workshop because they would get dirty!! Now they are right next to the tools and very easy accessible while still being kept in good shape. Next I am organizing warranties/manuals for tools and equipment in both the garage and barn using the hanging folder feature. Very happy!!!
