Dangerous, Explode Spontaneously

These explode spontaneously, if you are considering these, I’d strongly suggest to check Amazon reviews. It happened to me when unloading dishes from the dishwasher (dishes had fully cooled). I unloaded a few glasses, then touched the next glass with light pressure and it exploded loudly all over the kitchen. I got several cuts on my hand, thankfully I didn’t get anything in my face/eyes. I can’t believe these are still allowed to be sold.

These glasses are exactly as stated. They are made in France. The glass is sturdy and very functional. The glasses do stack in the cabinet which is space saving. They are great for any cold drink including Diet Pepsi Floats. The size of this particular glass is also perfect for iced tea

Bomb Proof

When I read "unbreakable" in the description I did think I doubt it, you have never come across my family then. After three years of use they are still going strong. They are proper heavy though so may break your floor if dropped. Reminded me of the glasses you got at the Little Chef back in the day.

PERFECT PICARDY PURCHASE

I really like this set of everyday glassware. It is smart, stylish and attractive and can also be used in a slightly dressier situation than the everyday table. Each glass has a comfortable feel in the hand and is easy to grasp.

These are What I was Searching For

I have been looking for the Duralex brand of glassware for some time, so ordered these immediately when I found them on the site. They are a lovely size, and dishwasher safe. Holds a good amount of liquid, which encourages me to drink enough water every day.

Great glasses until they randomly explode in hand, not triggered by heat, cold, or force

I purchased this set in 2018 and loved them so much that I went to the local store and puchased more, replacing all of my old glasses with these. They have a great weight, shape, and feel in the hand. However, yesterday, I was holding an empty glass and it randomly exploded in my hand, sending shards in at least a 6 foot radius. It was room temperature and I did not hit anything. I understand that after 5 years, glass cannot be guarenteed, but I purchased these glasses because I wanted someting that would last. I broke one a couple years ago when it banged on a counter, and it shattered, and I had no problem with that. It's what tempered glass is supposed to do. The unnerving part about this time around is that I was simply holding the glass in my hand, and there was a large pop and explosion. It was unprovoked, so to speak. So, now we are getting rid of all them because we are too scared to use them. If you do an Internet search for "Duralex Picardie randomly exploding" you will see that I am not the only one. I am very disappointed because theese glasses are great until they are not... Not worth the chance. Even though they are great glasses at first, I highly recommend purchasing something else.

Classic design- extremely sturdy

I deliberately chose these glasses for their classic design and sturdy construction. I love the fact that they are open stock and I can easily add more and/or replace them without having a cabinet full of mismatched glassware. They go very nicely with my farmhouse décor. You can buy them anywhere- but I love the service and fast shipping from Everything Kitchens - my new go-to fav for kitchen wares.

Fell from 50" bar table and still perfect

I have dropped them from a high bar table and it crashed onto the hard wood floor with NO CHIPS or breaks. We have accidentally hit them and they fell onto the granite counter top hard with no breakage or signs of flaws. They have been exposed to boiling water from my tea kettle and are washed 2 x daily in the dishwasher on hottest cycle. The few times I hand washed them, they slipped out of my hand and fell onto the bottom of my sink unchipped. I have not damaged any glass in the past year of heavy usage which is the first time in my life not breaking glassware. (Note: I manage to break/chip everything, even corelle dinnerware/cups. )

Beware of Manufacturing Defect

Everything Kitchens is great! The issue meriting a one-star rating is that out of 12 glasses, 8 had roughly textured rims. This was obviously a Duralex manufacturing defect. I have the same glasses in a larger size...all smooth rims. Before purchasing, I would highly recommend communicating with Everything Kitchens to make sure the problem has been corrected.

It's Like Art!

Strange story...but, first, these glasses are beautiful! I bought them because I've always liked bistro-style glasses. They are pretty durable--until I broke one...and this is where the STRANGE STORY begins: I was hand washing the glass when it slipped from my hand and fallen to the ground. I wanted to be upset about it, but the broken glass was just as beautiful as the glass itself.

Loved them until they became a hazard

I purchased 8 of the large glasses a year ago, and I love the look of them and the size. I was thinking about buying the smaller size for juice glasses. At the time of my purchase, I do not believe the product description provided a caveat that they may break. It seems odd that C&B would continue to sell the glasses knowing the quality isn't great. In the past month, I have had two glasses shatter in the dishwasher. There were no visible cracks in the glasses that would suggest this was about to happen. And they do not shatter into small round pieces. They shatter into dangerous shards of glass sized large and small. Cleaning up is a total a total mess as its nearly impossible to get all the shards out of the dishwasher and you get cut while cleaning (super fun for homes with small children and pets!). I have decided to throw away my remaining 6 glasses. I'm really disappointed as this isn't the quality I expect from Crate and Barrel, and I really do love the look of the glasses.

Duralex Picardie Tumblers 130ml (Pack of 6)

These are great, sturdy looking glasses. Tumblers. I like that, French Bistro, look of them. I wanted a smaller size glass, as l have the larger ones. They bounce well, as l knocked one off my kitchen counter. It bounced, onto my ceramic tiled floor. Phew Straight back into my hand, almost. That says a lot. They are big enough for most drinks. If you dont want to get your special glasses out. If they do break they shatter into rounded pieces. Not pointed shards of glass. I think that the dishwasher will eventually dull them. They are not overly expensive. So they will serve you well. It puts me in mind of school dinners. Ours were good They are called water glasses forget that Open a bottle of wine.

Bringing back the memories

We've had the smallest glasses since I was born and impossibly slowly they broke over the years until now my mom only has 2 left, we started with 4. So over 20 years with 2 kids and more pets than we can count we only lost two glasses. In fact they were inherited, so these glasses are probably at least 30 years old. Compared to any other glasses we bought that barely lasted 1/10th as long we always knew the Duralex was made of tougher stuff and joked about how nothing else compared. So for Christmas I hunted this set down and bought it for my house. I have no doubt and full confidence I am probably going to inherit these glasses myself 20 years or so down the line. It's a wonder that a brand with this good a product stays in business when there's an estimated 30 year gap between purchases!
