Glamping for Hubby
This tent is perfect for hubby and I to car camp up and down the California coast! Love the screened porch, its a great place to dump gear, take off shoes or even use as a spare private guest sleeping room on warm nights! Went to Big Sur with my adult daughter and she said our set-up looks like the glamping tents at Coachella!! ;) Only comment is - if your camping in below <50 degree eves, bring extra blankets or a tarp, windows are great for air flow but brrrr.
Good warm weather tent.
Nice tent. Fairly light, Went up okay. Broke down quickly. Not a 6 person tent IMO unless you like sleeping right on top of others. We bought it for fall camping in Arizona and we got fairly cold the first night because heat escapes through the top vents. Second night we covered the tent with a large tarp to keep the heat in and were snug. I think its really a summer tent.
Cool, Calm, and collected!
The darkroom technology really works! The tent is quite dark in full sun, and cooler than a regular tent. This tent sets up FAST! I am a 66 yr old with arthritis and I can set it up and break it down myself (with a little step stool). It's the perfect size for me and a grandchild. I haven't had it out in the rain yet, but I assume it will be the same high quality as all Coleman tent products.
Missing the most important thing some of the poles
Not pleased, I received the tent yesterday and decided to assemble it ahead of our camping trip just to see how big it is and how it is to get it set up. I am missing three tent poles and one that I do have is very loose so it keeps falling out of the metal connection. I have reached out to the supplier and hope they can send me the poles that I am missing and the one that is not working properly before my camping trip in the first week of June.
This was really pretty easy to put together took about 30 minutes the first time. It is really very intuitive and the instructions are sewn into the storage bag. I was able to put a large cot and a twin sized air mattress inside plus a large duffel bag and a tote with food stuff in it and there was just enough room to move about to get dressed and we had a light shower for 30 minutes and no leaks, a big plus was the floor is one piece about 4 inches up the walls so it will not flood also.Lots of vents so plenty of air flow.
It’s a big fat lie that it only takes 15 minutes to set up. That may be the case if you are well versed with tent set up. The directions are a little confusing at first and I highly suggest assembling the poles before starting the set up process. Also, the rain fly is cumbersome for a first timer.Once all is assembled it’s an amazing tent! Extremely roomy, not too large of an extended footprint if you tether properly.
This tent is best set up with 2 people. It is not free standing and long to walk around. The poles are color coded to match where they go on the tent, but there is a shorter black pole for the awning that we kept marked with a rubber band to keep it separate from the black tent poles. It was difficult to find a 9 x 12 tarp, so we went with a 10 x 12 tarp and folded it under. At first we were pleased with the tent, as it was quite roomy and allowed us to stand (neither of us were over 56).The door zipper was a little tight at the seam, so we had both zippers meet there in the middle. Also, it was a little breezy inside because the ceiling is entirely screen with quite a bit of space at the awning for wind to blow in.Another problem was one campground location had a tent pad that was smaller than the tent footprint, so we had to set up on the gravel driveway, which was not super comfortable.Things went well until it rained. It rained steadily for several hours overnight and into the next morning. Not a hard pounding rain, but continuous. We were dry through the night and really appreciated the awning for getting in/out of the tent in the rain.By mid morning, I noticed water coming in two of the corners.Water was coming in through the seams where the tent fabric met the bathtub floor. The rain would fill up the space between the seam and drip inside, collecting on the floor.Luckily we had a towel inside to mop up the water. We didnt have time to seal the.
Like the tent, tall enough to stand up and enough space for 2 queen beds with room for a suit case between. Only drawback is, there is no windows or opposite door. ZERO air flow for daytime use. No way to take a nap or rest in the tent during the day, was way to hot and no ventilation. Camped for a week and It did hold up great in the 2 big rain storms.
Was looking for a quick and easy and a decent size not small but not big tent.It was quick and easy. The size -well- my 16 yr old son is 61 and I am 55. He had a queen blow up and I had a single blow up. That was basically all that could fit.The other thing is - once its up and ready to go - the way the poles arch around the front - it doesnt allow for a quick unzip as when it gets 1/2 way around it gets stuck because of the tension - with a little jiggle once it gets past that spot its fine.I might need to return this particular one.I was laying down looking out the screen window which when laying down is actually high so you can only look out to the sky or trees... but thats okay I was enjoying the scenery... but my eye caught a tiny pin hole in the tent... I had just taken it out of the box and put it up so I know it came like that.Time wise, I should have put it up at home and checked it out before going camping. All in all though I think it would be fine for a couple that would sleep on one queen size or a single person... not a family.
I bought this for myself as an upgrade to my smaller EMS dome tent. I usually camp solo and the reviews said it could be set up by one person. It can be done, but it was tougher than I expected.I am not thrilled with the instructions and I feel like I am missing something because even with many adjustments it didnt seem to be just right. Im sure it will get easier.I did camp in some pretty severe weather, with high winds and torrential rain, and I stayed nice and dry.The construction seems adequate, but I doubt I will get over 20 years out of it like I did my EMS tent (which is still in great shape).Im still convinced there is no way to get it back in the bag.
We unfortunately didnt check the tent out ahead of time and opened the box at the campground to discover that the rain fly poles had the cord that connects them cut. The doorway barely zipped open and shut, everytime I went to unzip the tent I thought I was going to rip the zipper off. We tried everything to get the door to sit correctly. Also attached a fan to the top of the tent and even though we use it in our other tent without problems-it ripped a hole through the roof of the tent. Not impressed by the low quality of the material and construction.
If I could give this zero stars I would. I got this on super promotion last fall. I was so excited to finally be able to use it this weekend for 4th of July camping now that the Wisconsin weather is finally nice... got to the camp site opened it and its missing 3 main poles. It’s a good thing I brought my back up tent or I’d be heading to the nearest Walmart to get a cheap one for the weekend. Coleman will be hearing from me. I see that I am not the first this has happened to from the reviews. How does this happen??
Instructions are sparse. Product claims a 15 minute setup... took us about 2 hours. Granted it was after a really really long week, a couole sanity breaks and there may have been some alcohol involved. We had a hell of a storm though and we stayed dry, although there was some water beading in the corners. Setup will be easier next time and we feel it was a good value.
I very seldom offer one star reviews but this tent leaves much to be desired. Difficult to set up in a light wind, fly barely covers and the biggest issue... Two full size air mattresses wont fit without touching the sides of the tent. Colemans cool tent video shows an empty dry tent, not actually in use.
I sold my old Coleman tent that I bought in 2004. Never had an issue with it so I decided that I would stay with the Coleman brand when I decided to buy a replacement tent. I squeezed in one more camping trip before the summer was over. When I set the tent up I discovered that the elastic in one of the tent poles was broken. I had to jimmy rig it to make it work to get through the weekend. The good news (and bad news) is that it rained and it did not leak. I tried to call Coleman customer service, but they are in a different time zone than I am and they arent open on the weekend. For such a big and well-known company, that was a little frustrating. I like the tent, but I am so disappointed that it came with a broken pole.
Took my family camping for the first time (theyre city girls/boy). This tent is not a simple pop up so it was nice teaching the kids how to put together a tent that isnt just a throw and sleep structure. The rainfly fits perfect and the zippers are decent quality for an entry level tent. For a 6 person tent, it fit 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and 1 goldendoodle very comfortably.-1 star for the false advertising on Colemans behalf. The instructions and website show that the door comes with 2 rods to form a door frame. Despite the fact that the door has the sleeves for the rods to create a frame, they werent present in the bag. Come to find out after spending 30 minutes on the phone with Coleman customer service, the door frame poles only come with the identical looking 8 person Montana tent and not the 6 person Montana tent despite the fact that all the pictures show a framed door and the instructions in the tent bag dont specify that.
We just got back from a festival in Ohio with this tent. It was relatively easy to set up, but took at least ten minutes. Tent is leak proof, but not durable. There was a dried corn stalk (maybe three inches tall) that went straight through the bottom of the tent..... so our tent isnt weatherproof anymore. Of course we cant return since we used the tent, but were disappointed we only used it for three days and have to purchase another one for the next trip. Im not sure if theres a way that we can patch it up. Its a beautiful tent, but we also need something we can reply on as well.
Ordered from Amazon and opened it at the campsite for the first time. Instructions are good and its very easy to setup. Very roomy and perfect for a family of 4 (me , wife and 2 kids) had a queen bed in there with two sleeping bags and still there was lot of room. While we were camping the second night it rained all night and heavy at times. Not once did the water come inside. In the morning few other friends mentioned that water entered their tent and were surprised I did not have that problem. All and all this is a good choice and I am looking forward to more camping trips.
Ordered this tent last minute for a quick weekend away, we made sure to do our research knowing that there was a big storm coming while we were camping. The reviews did not lead us astray. This tent was incredible. We only used it for 2 people but was the perfect amount of space for a full queen bed, and room for our bags and a place to change. The lining on the bottom withstood the rain and sleeping DIRECTLY on top of gravel. So easy to put up and take down and is ventilated perfectly for the summer weather. We were cool and dry and I wanted to spend all of our time in the tent. 10/10 would recommend to any friend.
Bought this tent on a lightening deal. The setup was easy - took about 20-30 minutes with the help of my brother. We did a mock setup in our yard and there were no obstacles. Once at the camp site, for the actual use, inside was so roomy and spacious!! Fit our family of 4 including 2 kids and my brother in law who is a big guy. All of us had our sleeping bags and there was enough leg room. It even rained one entire day and none of the stuff inside was wet. It rained one night, all we could hear was the splatter of the raindrops on the tent but no worries. A great tent overall and Id definitely recommend it
