Whimsical and does the job of holding up books. They don't take up much room on the shelves so you can use them for just a few books for special effect.
For a few weeks, I really loved these. But one book fell over and the bookend broke in a way I didn't think would happen to cast iron -- I think this was possibly assembled from pieces glued together?
