I can only rate this as average for now because I have yet to get this put together. I attempted to put it together myself (I normally do) but there was so many screws and pieces that are needed to put this together that I couldn’t stay focus to even try to begin. I do believe it will be just what I wanted and I’ll be happy but I got to get it put together first.

Wasn't easy but happy in the end

This shelf looks really good and fits perfectly for what I wanted but the instructions were awful. I kept using the wrong screws for the wrong steps because they look so similar and weren't labeled in the bag they came in. The drawer fronts are also not the best. The don't have a tight fit like it should so I might have to do something else to have a tight fit. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Assembly is a complete headache!

The bookcase is like the picture. Not bad. However, the assembly took for ever, instructions were extremely hard to follow, often took times it took 2 or more people to hold separate pieces together cause it was necessary.. etc.,..... if that doesn't bother you, you will probably like it. If you easily get frustrated, like me, when instructions are not clear and you have to guess, you may not like it.

Modern Bookshelf.

Manufacturing is time consuming and hard for a person like me who barely knows about carpentry and hardware. Parts are very poorly labelled and hard to read. holes are poorly done and some were missing. The most dificult part to asemble is drawer cabinet and drawers, very small pieces and due to poorly mentioned holes if nails not properly in there it would probably be hard to insert drawers. Apparantly sturdy and good looking book shelf. Comes in properly packaging and all items were there. What if they prepare cabinet and drawers before shipping.

A great bookcase

This bookcase came out great. It is a project to put together, it took me about 2 hours. You will need a drill, screwdriver, etc... The doors slide smoothly and the shelf feels very sturdy. It came out so well I am considering purchasing another for the office to pair next to each other.

Instructions

The instructions are very poor. Specially on how to install the rails for the drawers. I had the correct amount of hardware but it was poorly packaged. No information as to what to glue and what not to glue. The only thing that is solid wood are the outside rails. All the rest is pressed wood.

Definitely worth the price.

Good quality for the price. Fit and finish was very good. Other reviewers have commented about the number of parts and time it takes to assemble. I have to agree with them. This was not difficult to do but it did take a while. The instructions are not the best since they are nothing but pictures but easy enough to follow. A couple of things to note: I assume the glue is for the dowel connections (the instructions don't show you using it) and the hardware is not labeled but it's easy enough to figure out based on the size (there's a "ruler" in the instructions) and the count you need for assembly. Overall, we are very happy with this unit.

Heavy and Brittle

Looks nice but it's very heavy pressed wood which chips and crumbles so easily... as pressed wood does. I'm sorry I bought it and just don't want to go through the trouble and expense of returning.

Awful. Hundreds of parts, took hours to put together, but the worst part wasn't even the assembly; the quality is terrible. Essentially all cardboard. Unless you're fine with cheap-looking and feeling furniture. don't buy this.

I was expecting good quality judging from the price of this shelf, but unfortunately the shelf is very cheaply made. I gave up the choice of *** shelves for this one, but as I put it together, I learned how great *** furniture is quality wise compared with this one. If this was not for the hassle of returning this piece of furniture that took over 2 hours to put it together, I would have returned it. My daughters room has some furniture from *** in her newly renovated room and this one just looks good in the picture, do not come close to it because you will see how cheaply made it is. The drawers are not gliding smoothly. I would not recommend it. Going back to *** next time.

Reviews are accurate

Delivery was easy and on time. The instructions for this product are not good!! My mom in law and i took 3 hours to put it together. Once it was put together it was as nice as the photo, however, we had to reinforce the top and bottom halves of legs of the ladder with super glue as there was a tiny gap showing. Also, a small piece of the leg arrived chipped off that is suppose to hold one of the shelves in place. I didnt want to go through the hassle of having the company send me a new leg piece. The screws seemed to keep the shelf in place, but again i just reinforced with super glue at the seam for precaution.

We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of this product. We don't think it's solid wood, but a mix of both solid and composite depending on the parts. It is heavy and sturdy. The only thing is that it took my husband and I more than 2 hours to assemble. All the wooden pieces are properly marked, BUT the screws, bolts and other tools are not. It took us at least 20-30 mins. to figure out the letters for each piece. The diagram shows a picture where you put "D" screw, but there are 5 difference sizes of screws. We would suggest to take the time before you assemble to mark each screws/tools or you might use the wrong one and have to start over. If they properly marked all the pieces we wouldn't have taken off 1 star.

SO HARD TO BUILD

So tricky to assemble! Screw packets aren't labeled so I had to guess which ones to use. Literally everything is in pieces so you're building this from scratch. It's nice once set up but it took me a span of 2 days to get it done. Use an electric drill if you have one. I'm giving this two stars because one of the sides wasn't painted and so the wood is exposed. Both edges are like this! Was annoyed but wasn't gonna return the entire thing for that. Oh well! Looks decent.

Office looking awesome.

Bought all of this for my home office. It looks amazing. Love the ladder and the two drawers are really needed for storage. Curtains are beautiful and sheer enoug to let in the morning sunshine. Chair looks great with my grey walls and my white desk that I also purchased at Hayneedle. So glad I ordered it all. Looks beautiful.

Missing piece, broken piece and looks really cheap

Sorely disappointed. It had 2 duplicate pieces- one was cracked and then missing an entire arm. Still waiting a week later for any replacement. It also is super cheaply bright white and looks like a pile of sticks. I would return if it wasn't such a. Pain to disassemble what we have put together and return.

Shoddy material and horrible instructions

I bought two of these - one has a broken side brace and both of them are shoddy. They are such lightweight pressboard and flimsy materials that I doubt they last long. The instructions were ridiculous - first - the hardware is not labeled so you have to guess what each piece is - some of the boards were labeled and some weren't - and the pictures do not show angles, or front, back, sides. The steps are in a really awful order, and putting on the drawer gliders requires that you fake assemble the thing so you know which ones to put where, and in which direction. Seriously - that step alone could have been done before shipping and made this a much less complicated assembly. If this had been *** - I would not be furious - but *** I would return them but I spent too much time putting them together to give them back now. I suspect most of us feel that way. I do not recommend these!

Better than The Container Store!

WOW! Our first purchase from Hayneedle...and what an experience. Far better than shopping in a store, after store, after store. The product shipped promptly. Excellent quality. A little challenging to put together, but well worth the price. We will definitely purchase from Hayneedle again, and again and again. ;)

Nice bookcase :)

The bookcase looks great, haven't filled it up yet but so far so good. Instructions were pretty simple to follow as well. Can't give it 5 stars because one piece (one of the drawers sides) had a crack, it doesn't seem like it will be a structural problem, so I couldn't be bothered to complain about it, plus you can't see it unless you pull the draw out. The rest of the furniture in the room is white but this is a very bright white. It also has some texture to it which is nice.

Don't make this purchase!

Lousy design and poor quality. Terrible instructions. Over 8 hours of trying to put together. Had to rehang drawer glides three times to get it right. Instructions are close to worthless. Damaged finish on show sides. Very difficult to order damaged pieces. Have to have box to provide quality control number to get new parts. Plus you have to provide your receipt. I do not recommend this project.

Product is rickety and I will not use

The lower part of the shelf assembles ok, but the standing legs and the top shelves are extremely rickety. Two of the screws that are supposed to hold the legs together keep falling out, and the screws that are supposed to hold the shelves up do not actually screw in at all, you just push them in. The alan wrench doesn't tighten anything on them. And because nothing is tight, the shelves flip upside down at the slightest touch. I am very disappointed in this product.
