Piece of junk, broke during assembly

This bookshelf is unfortunately a piece of junk and broke while I was assembling it. The shelves are fine, the problem is with the side supports. Each support comes in two pieces that you bolt together with screws and a wood dowel. When I unpackaged mine, the two pieces for one side didn’t line up perfectly. After I bolted them together, they broke apart and the wood dowel was also damaged. It could no longer be assembled and obviously being cheap quality, I returned it (which is a pain) instead of requesting replacement parts for half the product.

Great accent piece

Love this new ladder bookshelf. I got the black with wood. Looks so good in my living room, and holds a ton of stuff: books, plants, pottery, etc. Great price and fast shipping. My son put it together in less than a half hour, no problem.

Horrible design, broke immediately

Such a terrible design, broke within 5 minutes after I put books on the bookshelf. The load bearing legs are held together by two tiny screws and a dowel and are made of some garbage plastic composite. Seems to me like if you are going to have the legs screw together in the middle, which is insanely dumb, you at least need to have an A frame shape on each side, 4 legs total, where you at least get one leg that is perpendicular to the floor that can actually bear weight and not transfer it into the angled legs held together by screws. They give you some tiny little third leg to put under one of the shelves but it only supports one shelf, not all the other load bearing shelves and everything is extremely flimsy, fits poorly, so on. Buy something else, or better yet, from a company that doesn't ship absolute garbage around the world. There are plenty of sturdy, inexpensive options out there, I am embarrassed I ever purchased this product and wasted an afternoon repackaging it to return it to get shipped back to whatever wasteful dump it was born from. What a waste of resources. Photo is after this bookshelf was correctly assembled and then broke, you can see how the screws just strip out in the joint.

Structure was acceptable. It assembled similar to IKEA furniture using dowels fit into predrilled holes for shelf location. Screws secured shelves between arms. Included glue was used when installing dowels into arms. Pre glued dowels used to join 2 pc arms together. One broke after following directions to secure second piece of arm. Shelf will not clear a 7” baseboard heater without modification. Needed to raise overall height by extending arms. Finish was good. Wall anchors are stout and stabilize whole structure.

Made of solid wood. Good quality for the price. However, the first step attaching the (2) side post together require driving a screw that pierces a peg joining the ends together. The screw splits the peg. I just simply attached a small bracket to the back just for precaution. Other than that, its a very sturdy shelf made of real wood.

Flimsy and omits toxic fumes

I don't really understand the positive reviews of this product. It is very cheap looking and poorly made. Thin shelves with edges glued on, which look like they will separate at some point. I got the gray model, and the worst part is the SMELL.I put this thing in my basement man-cave to display some beer glasses. The whole basement now smells like toxic fumes, and its been a week. I get headaches sitting there. Maybe the other color options don't smell as bad but the gray smells terrible.
