This shelving unit, which includes a large drawer, was precisely what I was looking for. The dimensions were ideal, and I love the color. It gives my living room a very stylish appearance. I would highly recommend this to anyone seeking stylish storage solutions.

Amazing and perfect for holding my small kitchen appliances. Beware that if you don't anchor to the wall when you open the drawer it feels like it could tip. I went back and added for say reasons

Quality piece

Classic bookcase that I think could fit with different styles. My living room is mcm and the walnut color blends in well. Product is sturdy and comes with wall anchors but unless you have little kids that will be around it, it leans against the wall quite well on its own without the risk of falling over.

Well made overall but very strong paint smell, took us two weeks to air out with fan and open windows, had to place outside for several days. I would not purchase from this brand again. As soon as I opened the box I was overwhelmed with the paint fumes. Never encountered this with IKEA

Fantastic purchase!

This product went above our expectations! It was exactly what we needed. The file drawer is very functional - can be adjusted for both standard and legal size hanging files. The shelves are functional and good size. The piece looks very attractive and decorative while also being so useful. We love the dark walnut color against hardwood floors.

Ladder bookshelf.

I have bought many things from overstock and until today, have been pleased with them all. I spent most of the afternoon assembling this unit and followed the steps and directions carefully. I have several issues with it. First the angle of the unit will not allow the top to touch the wall, therefore it is not stable and cannot be secured to the wall. Second, the base does not sit flat on the floor causing it to wobble. Next, the fittings do not secure the shelves and they also wobble. Finally, the color is not cherry. It is orange. Overall I am very dissatisfied with this piece and would highly recommend that you reconsider discontinuing it. I am hesitant to make another purchase in this type of product. Thank you for your time.

We love it!

We love this bookcase! Maybe took us under an hour to build, but we've been building a lot of furniture recently, so a lot of it was very familiar to us. The color (dark walnut) is so lovely and looks expensive. The quality of wood is also great and feels like we got it for a steal. We didn't add in the silver file drawer component, as we aren't using it for paperwork. Overall, a really lovely MCM piece that I think we'll have a long time. We're thinking about buying a second!

A Happy Purchase

This beautiful bookcase caught my eye. Then I read the reviews. I was very happy that I took the risk and ordered it. My purchase arrived quickly. When I opened the box there was NO oder problem which was stated in reviews. Believe it or not the bookcase was not complicated to assemble. The only thing is the unit does not stand against the wall because of the baseboard. I always get quality products from Overstock and I'm very pleased with the purchase.

This rug has a bit more black than I expected but works in my cream and black farmhouse great room. I got this on sale and for the money, is awesome. No it's not thick but that's in the description. I laid it on top of carpet and it's soft snd cozy under my feet. Looks expensive and in hours lays flat. Could be my new fav rug on overstock. No odor when unpacking either.

Stylish, easy to assemble, exceeded expectations

I was a little nervous at first buying this because I had seen a few not so great reviews here and on ****, but I am so beyond happy I bought this. I ordered two to go around my TV stand and they look absolutely amazing. I've built basically all of my furniture in my apartment and this by far was the easiest to assemble. The directions were super clear, everything lined up exactly how it was supposed to, and the book shelf is not heavy at all to move around. It took me less than an hour to put together one of them, and after a nice break I put together the second one in 30 minutes. Everything came nicely packaged and I only noticed one tiny scratch at the bottom side of a shelf which honestly may have been my fault. The base is super sturdy and once the top shelves are attached to the wall it is even more sturdy. I wouldn't recommend not securing it to a wall because without that it was a tad wobbly at the top. The cabinets aren't the smoothest when pulling out, and the middle shelves aren't exactly level from lack of support, but those would be my only critiques and that's really reaching for something to be upset at especially considering the price I paid for them. I'm honestly surprised they're not a bit more in price because it definitely exceeded my expectations! All in all, it was an amazing purchase!!

Ladder/Bookcase with file drawer

I purchased two of these in white and placed one on each side of the queen size bed in my guest bedroom. They are perfect. Adding a file/storage drawer and shelves for decor and books and a side table for guests all in one piece of furniture...... I really could not have chosen better pieces. I often have guests and they love the look and functionality. I like these so much that I actually wish I had placed them in my master bedroom rather than the guest room. I may just have to repeat the same look in my master after all. That's how much I love them. As I'm furnishing my office, I can also see how well they would work on each side of the desk in my office but.......I really do need to switch it up. I'm just going to have to keep looking for the office pieces.

Beautiful bookshelf!

Ive been searching everywhere for something to sit next to my desk that could hold a printer and this bookshelf exceeded my expectations. The bottom drawer is incredibly spacious and theres an option for you to insert file dividers. The shelves are also incredible; they decrease in size as they go up hence the ladder effect, but I still manage to have extra space! I am in love with this bookshelf and I'm so happy I got it!!!!

Love the look and quality of this bookshelf. Chic and perfect for the office with file cabinet for my need. I would recommend this product for price and quality. Looks great. The reason I give it a 4 star is because it needs to be attached to the wall for safety, as the file cabinet is heavy when full. So it cannot be left free standing without some risk. The unit was easy assembly for my husband.

Color does not match

The bookcase itself was relatively easy to put together, i did it by myself with so issues. It seems sturdy enough, but not sure i would store anything super heavy on it. I am however disappointed with the color. I ordered the color driftwood and it does not look like the picture on the site. I have added a photo to this review for reference. I have decided to keep it because I do like the style of it and it took me forever to find something I actually liked. I can always paint it if i need to but it was very disappointing seeing as it wasn't cheap. Don't know if I will purchase from this brand or overstock again.

I purchased the ladder bookcase in the ash(?) color, which online, looked like it would be a bit of a lighter wood color with a grey undertone. Instead, it's an ugly old-school tan color, which I'm not a fan of. But, despite the off-putting color (which can always be changed via paint), the ladder bookcase looks nice, and serves its purpose. Edit: It does seem a bit flimsy, which is disappointing. Plus, the screws for the handle that came with the package didn't fit properly.

Chemical Smell That Won't Go Away

The bookshelf looks the same as the pictures. Great for small or tight spaces. However, my rating is due to the strong chemical smell. When I first received the package even the styrofoam smelled like chemicals. I left the parts outside of the box for 5 days to air out. No change. I decided to build the shelf, wipe it down with damp cloth with soap and water. Nothing. Not only is the smell still there, I was wearing a white T-shirt and areas where my shirt rubbed turned yellow?? The cabinet is white.. this could only be the chemical used to coat the shelf. The smell is so strong that It causes some dizziness. I opened the window, but still a strong smell. I'm not sure what else to do. Also, the drawer is a great size, but not ideal for filing folders. The places where they put the holes to hang the files is limited and you waste a lot of drawer space. The picture shows space to the left and right that can't be used once you hang your folders. They should have provided vertical hooks to give more storage space. Without the smell I would have rated the shelf a 3.5-4. Only because of the location of the hooks to hang the files. Reduces your space in the drawer

I bought it mainly for the file drawer and it serves it's purpose. I put it together myself. It took a couple of hours. Instructions were clear but just takes a while to attach all the pieces and only problem I had was attaching to the wall. Was hoping to not have to attach to the wall but once drawer is filled and you try to open it, bookcase will lean forward. What I did not like was that unlike the bookcase, the shelves do not lay flat. They are at a very slight angle (unlike photo) which is annoying. Also reeks for the first couple of days. Would not repurchase.

We ordered 2 of these in the white color. We are remodeling a room in a modern theme, so we also ordered a white modern desk and a white modern dresser to go along with these. The desk sits in between the two bookshelves on the same wall, and I discovered that these bookshelves are a little bit off white instead of a true white. The desk and dresser are the same true white, but don't quite match these bookshelves. I love the bookshelves and the file drawer, which we needed for storage, so I am keeping them. However, one of the bookshelves has to be returned. When my husband put it together, the holes on one side of the drawer were not drilled in the right place and it caused the drawer to sit crooked and rub against the top when opened. I called Overstock and they were EXCELLENT to help me with this issue. They sent me out another bookshelf and when we get it put together, we will just take the other one apart and package it up and send it back with the shipping label that Overstock is providing us. I really like these shelves, and I would recommend them.

I have at long last found the perfect nightstands for my tall canopy bed. I don't know why I didn't think of ladder shelves earlier?! I love the clean look, the handiness and convenience, the quality hardwood construction, and the fabulous price here on Overstock. (Several other vendors offered these shelves at *** or more each.) I also appreciate having the big storage drawer as well. Most comparable shelves did not include a drawer. The only drawback would be that it takes two people to assemble, and even then it was tedious. The dowels were too small for the holes, so we used wood glue for extra stability. That said, the instructions were clear and no pieces were missing. Another issue to be aware of - the shelves need to be secured to the walls with the included L-brackets. If you have base moulding as I do, you will have to add a spacer to align the shelves to the wall correctly. They look amazing, and I'm very happy with my purchase.

First, parts were missing-specifically the screws I needed to clamp the bookshelf to the wall. I had to go find them at a hardware store. Also, I have assembled a lot of furniture pieces myself and the instruction manual on this one is one of the worst in terms of clarity. Third, each of the two legs on either side is made up of two pieces each and these two pieces need to be attached with the help of two wooden dowels to make one leg, same process for the other leg. That, in my opinion, is a very weak solution. After assembling the whole thing, I was trying to make it stand, and one of the legs (specifically the 2 dowels connecting the two pieces of that leg) could not take the weight and broke!! I had to then find a replacement for these broken dowels (they don't give you extra pieces) and also find a way to remove the broken pieces from the holes. It was exhausting!! Fourth, when I finally managed to repair the leg and complete the assembly, I found that the bookshelf is not stable enough in that I needed to put a wooden piece at the base to make it stand correctly against the wall ( it was wobbly) so I could clamp/attach it to the wall. That is a manufacturing defect. Never buying anything from them again...
