Starling Proof
This is a great suet feeder! The starlings cannot reach my suet at all. But the other birds have no issue feeding here. It’s a win win.
Great way to feed selected birds!
This product works great at keeping unwanted birds away from the feed inside. This is my second purchase of this product. I purchased the first one three years ago and it looks as good as the day I purchased it. Top quality and easy to clean up.
Great Product
I bought this feeder because the starlings would empty out my old suet feeder within a couple days. I even tried the upside down suet feeders that starlings aren’t supposed to be able to use and they finished off those suet cakes just as fast. With this new feeder I am able to keep starlings out and the woodpecker that I put the suet cakes out for is able to enjoy the food all to his own.
LITTLE TO NO BIRDS USE IT
I EXCITEDLY brought this feeder during nesting season so my redbellied, downy and hairy woodpeckers can enjoy suet without being bullied by the starlings and grackles. The woodpeckers, titmice, wrens, and 1or 2 sparrows flew to check out this feeder a few times. Very disappointing that their are no continuous users for this feeder that cost so much. Hopefully things change in the winter.
Slow Adoption
The feeder is beautiful, and similar in shape and design to the suet feeder it is replacing. The differences are a solid bottom so suet cannot be raided from below, and the distance between outer cage and inner suet, making it almost impossible for larger birds. So, similar design, same location, why so few customers? My hypothesis is the shiny copper. I did read reviews and noted this problem, but feeder is beautiful. Wrens and Downies have started using it, but it’s slow! Still, I have high hopes! Better than grackles devouring the suet.
No birds yet
No birds have used the feeder yet. One bird landed on it and thought about trying to go inside, but decided not to. That’s why I’m giving it three stars I will update my review with more stars or if you were in a couple of weeks if given the opportunity.
Looks good
I got this feeder to stop the grackles from eating all the suet, and it works wonderfully for that. One brave little wren flew in as soon as I hung it, but none of the other birds seem to like it, preferring the seed feeder. I’m hoping more will come in the future.
Nothing so far
This has been hanging in the tree for two weeks now and I've only seen one bird access it. No squirrels have gotten in it though. Hopefully birds will acclimate to it and start eating the suet.
Starling fortress
I love how this feeder is constructed to keep starlings and squirrels out of the suet cakes, unfortunately there are not a lot of little birds going inside the cage to feed. I guess they are scared. It is a nice looking feeder, maybe in time the goldfinches and nuthatches will enjoy it too !
Double suit feeder
Nice feeder. Holds the suite well but no birds using it yet. Not sure if the season for them is over here in the PNW, if the big birds scared all of them away or if the smoke from the fires is keeping them away but there Are no little birds to be seen at this time using it. In fact very few birds out at all. But love the feeder. Just need birds to start to use it.
Works Like A Charm
This feeder really does prevent squirrels, Starlings, and other large birds from getting at the suet. The Downy Woodpeckers now visit regularly and eat in peace. Even our Red-Bellied Woodpeckers can eat, because their beaks are long enough to reach the suet from outside the cage.
Starlings Stay Away!
Purchased the Coppe Double Suet Cake Feeder in order to deter Starlings and Grackles [Bully Birds] from dominating Song Birds at my bird feeding station. In short, it works! The 4.5 inches from the inner cage, suet cakes, to the outer cage is sufficient to ward off those devils. I'm sure the designers of this suet cake feeder had Starlings in their backyard 😁
