I’ve had mixed experiences
The older one I have will blink and shut off when battery is low or when it decides it’s the worst possible time even with a full battery… I have a newer one that does not do this. My original many years back did not do this , it just got broken by an idiot. I would not have purchased a third if I didn’t like the first one so much … It would be nice if Dewalt would replace defective models… My bad one has a low red beam- not sure if that’s related, the newer one just has bright and less bright both white light.
FLAME ON!
I have a lot of Dewalt tools. I mean, back in the day before all the "Johnny come lately" battery tools, that's what cha had pretty much only related to a drill. Anyway, I have a good stock of batteries always charged up and thought why do I have a separate battery operated bright light when I could just use the Dewalt batteries I always had ready to go. So I got the Dewalt spot light and let me tell ya...it can dam near light a fire LOL Anyway, I'm happy with it and would recommend.
This LED is AWESOME
I’ve used so many corded and battery spotlights before and spent hundreds of dollars on some. So far, this one is my favorite. While it may not have the candela of some more expensive corded lights, you can’t beat the versatility and quality of the light. It is rugged and still throws a beam 400ft
Dynamite this light doesn't play it gets the job done I work under homes and it lights up basements no problem. I can even see what's going on in the pasture with my horses. I have both of these lights The red one and all LED one DeWalt did it again when it comes to led light the blast the compition. However they do need to get true light like the compition true light it beyond cool and has its place in the work fields across the board.
I've been in the market for a versatile and powerful flashlight for a few months. I've researched different brand name lights for use while camping and fishing. I have previously invested in Dewalt 20 volt power tools I already have the batteries to power it.
Bright light
This is a great and very bright light. I use it everyday in construction to light across walls to check for imperfections in drywall or to light job work areas. It's really a very important tool for me so I always want a back up!
Phenomenal spotlight!
I was skeptical when I bought this because I thought the reflector looked cheesy. But I know DeWalts quality is great, and I had a few of their batteries, so I bit the bullet. I am not disappointed in this light!
Fantastic Spotlight, seems to be a new model.
It actually has 4 bright white LEDs, no red (as of 10/29/2021 and it does say model DCL043). The DeWalt website says it is 1500 lumens on high and 500 on low. There is no belt clip. The first press of the trigger turns all 4 on at the brightest setting, the 2nd press dims it slightly, but still quite bright, and the 3rd turns it off. I was able to fully illuminate my boat about 300' from the house and see some objects maybe 1/4 mile across the creek. Using the DCB203 2.0Ah batteries that came with my DeWalt drill. My wife loves it too. We live in a very dark area and this will light up the furthest reaches of the property. Just buy it, you won't regret it!
If you’re thinking about it I would recommend it
First, I bought this as a gift for my father. We are working on his apartments and he keeps pulling out a little crappy flashlight so I picked him this up for his birthday he literally said this is the best flashlight I ever had. he wouldn’t spend the money on himself to buy it so it was a good gift. He actually used it the first day almost all day long working on wiring in the basement and stuff like that. He truly loves this thing and told me he walks around the apartments with it haha. It matches all of his other DeWalt tools and all the batteries are interchangeable I might actually buy myself one
Impressive light!!
This was just what I wanted! It fits the Dewalt batteries I already have. Have used it almost daily (nightly) since getting it 3 weeks ago and I am quite impressed. I mounted the metal belt hook upside down on the left side so that I can hook it on my belt and have the beam light my path which works great. The single red LED works better than I expected and seems like a good way to go to preserve battery life. I'd definitely buy another one. Seems tough and durable like all Dewalt tools. The switch seems rugged. I think it was a good buy and if I like it in a year I'll buy another one or two to have around. It' balanced well and sits on the battery without tipping over. I haven't needed to use the metal hanging loop on the top yet but it feels plenty strong. Mine did not come with battery or charger. Batteries are expensive so if you don't already have Dewalt tools there might be less expensive ways to get light.

I bought this Dewalt DCL043 in mid-June of 2020 for $45 on a DOTD. I wanted to wait to write a review until I had an opportunity to use it in real-world situations. I've used it about a dozen times now, so here's the TL;DR bullet point review: Pros: Super bright Seems well-built The pivoting head is very useful Sits on a floor or bench securely without tipping when sitting upright, or rolling away when the head is pivoted 90 degrees into a more traditional flashlight shape Long battery life even from my little 1.5ah batteries Did I mention it's very bright? Cons: It's HUGE. Very, very large. Takes up quite a bit of space in the bottom of my 22-inch portable toolbox. Desperately needs selectable brightness modes! You have three VERY bright, useless dim red, and off. I would love to see this light upgraded with Hi,Med,Low settings! Using this while piled under the sink in a bathroom vanity was almost uncomfortable because of the overkill of light. Summary: This would have been a five star product for me if it had selectable brightness modes. I can even tolerate the excessively huge design, but man the lack of brightness settings is a bummer. Still, I love this light and I'm happy with my purchase.

Back when I was a teen, my parents proudly presented me when a Craftsman cordless drill and spotlight combo. The spotlight was a favorite of mine, but it ALWAYS blew out it's little bulb, just a slight jostle was all it took. After replacing the bulb four times, I got frustrated and left it in it's case. Fast-forward a couple decades, my parents (yes, they spoil me!!) bought me a DeWalt cordless vacuum with two batteries for Christmas. I saw this on a slight sale after Christmas and decided to get it. WOW. Don't stare at this thing when you turn it on. Seriously. You will injure your eyes. Even the lower-brightness red setting is more than sufficient to light up a room. While I know from study and experience that LED's are more robust than bulbs, I still wondered how durable this spotlight is.... Well, I had to help my dad replace a pump in the washing machine recently, and this spotlight was a clutch tool. It was left on for just over four hours, and barely used any of my 3 aH battery's capacity. Also, it was kicked, knocked over, and accidentally bashed around inside the washing machine repeatedly in those four hours. Nothing burned out! So as you've likely gathered, I am stoked to have a portable spotlight back in my tool arsenal, and more stoked that I know it won't burn out if I so much as gently bump it. Given the price of DeWalt's batteries, this may or may not be a worthwhile purchase for you if you need to buy a battery for this. BUT, if you have one of these 20v MAX batteries, I'd strongly suggest looking into this spotlight.

This device only has 2 light settings. The first is a VERY bright white cast. The second is a dim red cast. It would be nice if it had a second white light level that was not as bright. I purchased this product to use it in case of emergencies, like when power goes out, or finding the dog at night outside. A dimmer switch or lower light setting would permit you to keep the light on longer in the event of a power outage, so that you could have enough light to do things in your house at night. The bright white setting is VERY bright. It easily throws light 150 feet into my backyard, and trees a football field away are well lit. Very happy with the brightness, but it should have a dimmer on the next model. It seems well built, and has a similar casing to their other devices that use 20 volt. I bought this light because I have some of the 20v lineup. The tool is very light. I wouldn't doubt the battery weighs more than the device itself. The adjustable head tilts easily but stays well in place wherever you set it. Nice hook on the neck of it, for easy hanging.
Bright Light, Dim On/Off Switch
Living in the country, I need a bright spot light that illuminates the woods around the house. This light is very bright and does illuminate the woods. The On/Off switch design was not thought out. The trigger switch turns on the white LED lights when you pull the trigger once, turns off the white LED lights and turns on the red LED light when you pull the trigger a second time, and turns off the red LED light on the third pull.

I've worked in many careers including as a home inspector before the great housing crash. I used maglite brand which have been the standard in flash lights for the past twenty five or so years. The flash lights worked fairly well but replacing four d-cell batteries Several times a week was expensive and wasteful. I switched to streamlite rechargeable flash lights which Were great quality but we're also very expensive. The light lasted about four hours before I would have to plug in and recharge it. I needed about 6 to 8 hours of flash light use per day and having to wait for my streamlite to recharge was a bit annoying. I wish I had this light then! What a difference it would have made in my day to day operations. I have found that the light does tend to tip over if stood on end and positioned on an 45 degree angle. To remedy this I switched to 20volt 6ah xr batteries which are heavier and have a larger base. They even last a lot longer (over 8 hours) than the smaller batteries. If you truly need a great spot light for work or home, this may be the last one you will ever have to buy.

But having it now it was worth the expense. This is one awesome spotlight. I have wanted this DCL043 spotlight for over a year now. I already have the smaller version which is kickass already but this spotlight is so bright it is almost too bright. 1000 lumens is great. Now what pushed me over the edge to purchase it you might ask? I discovered critters on my property that come out after dark, i have to avoid them but am trying to trap them too. I have found the red light (night vision) to be a major advantage, its very bright but not super bright like the regular lights are. Now this light is not really very affordable but if you have a need and can swing the expense than go for it, I recommend this light to everybody & if my new light somehow gets misplaced or damaged over the years I will replace it in a heartbeat. I love this thing...
