The item arrived in a timely manner in good condition with superior packaging. The quality of the finish on the solid wood is excellent. All wood pieces had removable identification stickers. Clear instructions with accompanying drawings made assembly actually enjoyable. All hardware was present and neatly packaged with identifying labels. Extra pieces were included. Pre drilled holes were properly aligned with peg placement. . There were only a couple imperfections which I considered to be minor. There are three places with small dents in the wood that weren’t sanded out prior to finishing. Also, the lid on the bench did not align to be perfectly centered. The dents in the wood are barely noticeable and the imperfect alignment doesn’t bother me. . All in all-very satisfied with purchase!

Very pleased with purchase

I recently purchased this for our new mudroom, and it is a exactly what I was looking for. It was easy to assemble with clear instructions. The quality is nice, and it is exactly how it is described. Everyone who has seen it has complimented on how nice it looks. We are very pleased with this purchase.

I Can't Believe How Easy.

After reading some of the reviews prior to ordering, I was half expecting problems. Completely the opposite. The package arrive well packed and in excellent condition. An inventory showed all of the parts were present. Following the directions exactly, it took only two hours and required no "adjustments" that other assembly-required products seem to always need. I took a square to the base and top before completing, and was very surprised that they were spot on! It looks beautiful.

They got really close to perfection but not quite

This piece was impressive up until the last minute of putting it together. Great things: It's solid wood. No particle board. The finish is in pristine condition. I thought I saw a scratch but it turned out to be a dog hair. See picture for the culprit. The storage area in the bench is deep and we fit all of our scarves, gloves, winter accessories in it with room to spare. The hooks are high enough for adult coats. The one and only problem is that there were three missing wooden pegs to finish out the top surface. There are 21 included but 24 holes. The instructions state there are 21 included but declined to mention there are 24 holes. See photo for how it looks both with and without these pegs. I'll have to make a trip to my hardware store to see if I can find some that match. These three missing pegs would have cost the company less than a dime and gotten them a full five star rating.

Country Style, Quality Build

The styling of this is spectacular, very elegant but simple giving a great country design. The picture shows it well, actually the quality of the woodgrain finish is probably better than the picture. The structural integrity is great, 80lbs, very sturdy and well engineered piece.

warm wood tones

the pieces don't line up quite right because the drilled holes were off. So the bench seat lid is closer to one side than the other and a gap on the other end. The pieces don't fit together well on the back of it. It looks like one windowpane piece, but is actually two together. if you look you can see a gap of 1/8 inch and can see the wood plug that holds them together. It is pretty tho, and exactly the right piece for my entryway.

Good little bench

It was a little awkward to assemble but I put it together by myself in a decent amount of time. It is sturdy and looks nice. The only issues I had were one upper side piece was scratched in a few places,right out of the box, and the seat isn't a perfect rectangle. The left front corner is slanted toward the center rather than straight.

Disapointed of what could have been nice

I recieved the item fairly fast. My sister and I laid it out on the floor and it took us almost 2 hrs to place together. I am not totally happy as there was a chunk of wood that had broken off during manufacturing(curved wing part on seat) and they put some off color putty in to fill part of the void. Looks bad and poorly done, this piece should have been replaced before shipping. Two of the wooden caps/plugs for the bolt holes were missing so I have two without. The inside bottom part of the seat box just sits loose inside and is about 1/4" to small on all sides, works but does not fit. The pieces on the back upright are off a little so they do not sit tight and creat a gap between them. With all considered, it does look O.K. and too big of a hassel to send back now that it is together. The lack of quality control needs to be corrected/addressed when manufactured of which made this item disapointing for us overall.

Overall I am very pleased with this purchase. Some questions answered upon arrival are:

Broken Pieces

I was disappointed with the dowel pins used partially for lining up the pieces, and partially for strength. Two of the dowels were snapped off and three or four other dowels were not glued in or were so deteriorated they did not stay glued. It almost looked like they had been stored somewhere where they got wet and rotted a bit before they were installed. Also the holes were not drilled correctly for the coat hooks. They were drilled in a way that the hooks are not straight up and down- a bit of a lean to the left.

Skilled adjustment may be required

Product is of good quality and finish. Assembled by brass "cross dowels" and bolts in predrilled holes. Should be about an hour job. On mine, two of the predrilled holes were off far enough to require filling with wood filler and redrilling. Depth of hole on one was too shallow for the cross dowel to line up with the bolt. I am handy in these regards, so I had it done in afternoon after filler dried.This could be a show stopper for someone not well versed in woodwork. They need better quality control to ensure the customer does not have these kinds of adjustments. After assembly, the product is just what I wanted.

Perfect Piece!

This is a perfect piece. It arrived within a couple days of placing the order. We recently converted a living room off our garage into a 'formal' dining room. This entry bench sets perfectly against the wall giving us a place to hang coats, work bags and store shoes without taking up much space at all. The cherry color also matches our table/buffet beautifully. My husband is quite handy and assembly wasn't too much of a problem for him. But he said the quality wasn't exactly top notch and some slight imperfections, so that's why we gave it 4 stars. However, for what we paid and the final product, we are very pleased! I would definitely recommend this hall tree/bench.

"Some assembly required...."

The instructions were not very detailed which made assembling the spring supports to the bench very difficult and time consuming. Some of the insets drilled for the long head cap bolts were not deep enough and made assembly difficult due to the bolt being at a severe angle without additional drilling.

No regrets with this purchase

Assembled very easy. Excellent value. One small blemish in the finish but in time will blend in with other 'incidences' that will occur from our 4 & 6 year old kids. Couple minor design issues that could be improved for assembly but being an engineer myself I'm always looking for a better way. For the price this Hall Tree can't be beat.
