Rusting Right Away

Do NOT add water

The teapot of my dreams ended up a total rusty pot. I had this pot 9 months and used it with spring water only. Two days ago I dropped the top of the kettle on the floor and when it came apart I was SHOCKED to see the rust that was inside the cover that does not come apart to clean, as well as around the inside of the spout. It had to be leaching into my tea, daily. I wrote to McKenzie-Childs and their response was as follows:

Pretty, but unusable, in its present state

I purchased this for my newly remodeled kitchen. However, I cannot open the lid, it seems to be stuck in place and I do not want to damage the enamel by forcing it, so sadly, I have to return it. It's very pretty, but in its present state, not useable.

Tea for one

I received this tea kettle as a gift over a year ago. I wasn't sure I would like it because I have been using a smart tea kettle that heated the water quickly to just the precise temperature for my single estate jasmine pearl tea. But I love this thing! I love the ritual of having to put in fresh water and wait for the whistle to sound just like my grandmother used to do. I bought the matching mug, now if only I could find the whole set! I want the matching saucer, a tea tray, anything else! I feel so fancy and cozy by myself when I use this kettle. It's silly but I love it. Over the past year I have used this tea kettle every day, sometimes twice a day. The colors have not faded, the bottom of the tea kettle has not weakened or warped, and there is no rust to be seen. I know I should dump out the water after pouring my tea and keep it dry, but I rarely do that, if ever. I pour out the water and rinse it before I'm about to use it. If I had one wish, I would wish for the whistle to be unique, perhaps like a harmonica note, but I love it the way it is. Not one complaint.

Issue with whistle (but love the kettle)

Love this kettle but within less than a month of using it, the pin that keeps the whistle mechanism in place came out and couldn’t get it to slide back in. MN exchanging for a new one, fingers crossed that it was just bad luck with the first one.

Attractive and usable
