Some I Like, Some in the design NOT SO MUCH!
Second time we purchased this product. Had first one many years, so I can't say anything negative about the "Bath Dish" and electrical design. BUT, their connections SUCK!
Works great.
We just hade Temps well below zero and the birds had fresh water. Installation was a breeze and Getting it on sale was an added bonus. I would and have recommended this product to others.
Great purchase!
As soon as I filled the bath, the birds were on it. We're located in zone 5 so I'm curious to see if my steady stream of squirrel and bird visitors continues through the much colder months It holds more water than my normal bird bath which is convenient. I'm using my normal bird bath stand and it works perfectly.
Provide This Perfect Birdbath for Your Birds
I've had this same bird bath for several years. I was so happy to find another one. It fits perfectly on my deck railing. It's wonderful to see all kinds of birds bathing and drinking all year around. The squirrels will come by for a drink also. Especially during the hot summer months. It clamps onto the deck railing and when it's time to clean, I tilt it up and drain the old water into a bucket. It gets a good scrub and re-filled with fresh water. I use a hose in the warm months and use a mixture of water and vinegar in a spray bottle. Much easier than a concrete bird bath.
Great Bird Bath!
This is the second one of these bird bath's that I've purchased. I've had the first one for about 5 years now. The birds love to drink and bath in them year-round, we also have squirrels that drink from them too. They're very sturdy, and they're not too deep for the little chickadee's to enjoy, they have a rough surface so the birds don't slip.
Directions leave a lot to be desired
I'm glad I read some of the reviews before installing this. The pictures of the components are not good but the copy on the installation instructions helps. I think if you don't rush and read the directions a couple of times it's not bad. I didn't need anything but a Phillips head screwdriver and something to tighten the bolts. It fit my 6" deck rail fine. It's supposed to sit at an angle so that you can watch the birds in the bath, as I understand it. I'm still waiting for my first bird visitor but have high hopes. I wish it came in a nice cobalt blue.
Heated Bird Bath
Last year I purchased this bird bath. I am thrilled with it. I bought another bird bath for my front yard this summer and immediately knew what I would do. Rely on Farm & Fleet!
It works well, but the birds don't like it
The water doesn't freeze, but the birds don't seem to like it. We moved it from the railing to a table to see if it would make a difference. It didn't. We put a stone in it for the birds to stand on so it would be easier to get to the water, but no birds come. They'd flock to our unheated one in the summer, but they aren't interested in this one.
Happy Birdies
Does a great job of keeping the water from freezing. My whole backyard is covered in snow...but my birdies have water! My dad had to mess with the mounting bracket a bit to allow the bowl to tilt without falling off- but it’s good to go now! Birds are happy, and I can watch them from my family room window. I purchased the Lock ‘N Dry cord as well. It’s a nice setup. :)
Happy birds are fun to watch!
I love it and the birds love it. There is a large amount of birds drinking from it every day. Very easy to keep clean. I just sat it on top of a large flower pot because I have no deck railing to attach it to. It is about 2 feet off the ground sitting near my shrubs & trees; perfect location for my little friends. So happy I bought this.
Great heated bird bath
I purchased one of these about 18 years ago and the heater finally died last winter. I was so thrilled to find it again, reasonably priced and perfectly fitting the old set-up.
The ONLY bird bath I'll buy and use!
This is my second bird bath of this brand and type. The first one finally cracked after many years of use. I tried two other brands before I found this brand last time. I again tried a "similar" one. Nope! This one is the only brand and type for me. It is perfect. The birds love it, the squirrels also love to drink out of it and I enjoy watching all the critters lapping up water. It looks HUGE when you take it out of the box, but once mounted on the deck, it is absolutely the right size for the birds and squirrels. It attaches SO EASY. It is super easy to empty, clean, and refill. I usually empty and refill every every day in hot weather and other day in cold weather. The heater is awesome - keeps the water open all winter. If it is extremely bitter cold for several days in a row, there will be about 1/2" of frost built up around the inside edge, but the majority of the water is still open. I use a water wiggler in this year round.
Well-designed, easy to set up & use
Well-designed; bolt-clamp fits over porch railing without permanently affecting it (ie it’s not necessary to put a hole in the railing!); it’s SO easy to tip the birdbath, pour out its contents, and wipe it clean; birdbath holds about 1.25 gallons of water. The temperature has been below freezing all day today but there’s no ice in the birdbath!
Great product / terrible packaging
Love the look and size of the birdbath. Appears to be well made though the weather’s not been cold enough to plug it in yet so I can’t comment on how it functions during winter. Unable to mount it to my stone patio so I plan to place it on top of a metal urn-style planter where it fits perfectly. My only negative comment relates to packaging. The item was shipped in a box about 5 times larger than necessary and was packed with yards of plastic air-filled pouches. I purchased a natured-inspired product and was super disappointed in Blair’s obvious disregard of the environment. Probably won’t order from them again due to this problem.
After 16 Years We're Replacing the Original
The original bird bath still works just fine after 16 years but is just getting a little harder to clean using Clorox and has a few pits in the plastic bowl but it's still functionally works like new. We are definitely keeping it for a spare. It has endured wind gusts up 80+ mph on the railing with no problems except some of the water was blown out. We live in MA and normally the temperatures stay above 0 degrees without any problems of icing up except maybe sometimes on the edge and the water is being blown over the rim. I did have to repaint the metal bracket components once and replace the adjustment bolts because of rust but just once in 16 years. I honestly cannot think of anything negative about the product.
My second bird bath
This is the second one of these I have purchased. The first one was destroyed in a severe hail storm. I was happy with the original, so bought a replacement. The only issue I've encountered with these is that the brackets don't lock together out of the box. I've had to make some minor modifications to the latch on the upper portion of the bracket to get it to actually lock into the base. Not a big deal, but a bit annoying.
Heated Bird Bath with EZ - Tilt
Now the birds are happy. The EZ-TILT feature is good to have. The starlings make mud in it with their communal bathing. People are amazed seeing the birds get wet. They ask if they freeze up. I tell them "They fly away and drop in the neighbor's yard next door. I take a hairdryer, go over there and dry them off." They fly away. Squirrels take drinks out of it. Our Jack Russell enjoys trying to catch the squirrel. Fun is had by all who come to the bird bath.
It lasts
We have had t his identical model for 12 years. It has worked perfectly even with temperatures in the single digits. It finally stopped heating this winter so we went out and purchased another one of this same model. I hope this one lasts as well as the first one. I'd recommend it. By the way, the unit is sealed with the heating element inside, otherwise I'd take it apart and see what's wrong with it. As it is, we'll use the old one for a 2nd summer bath in a different part of the yard.
It was bone dry, but didn't burn out!
It's great! Birds use it. Life got involved and I forgot to water it for a week. Even tho it was totally dry, it didn't burn out! Holds about 2 gallons of water, so only need to add more every few days. Very short cord. Got a plug protector at hardware store for about $5, but probably could wrap with plastic wrap and twist ties just as well. Sits right on regular bird bath. I used a level and put stones and sticks under it until it was pretty near level. Next year I'll do this before the real cold weather hits and do a better job. I was freezing trying to gather stones & sticks under the snow to set this up level! But really great product!
The birds are very appreciative!
I bought this to replace an identical unit that had served me well for many, many years. The new one spun right onto the old mount. This birdbath keeps the water melted no matter how cold the weather gets in my area (in which there are sometimes winter nights in the -10 degree F range). One note: when the weather turns very cold and very dry, you may need to monitor the water level more often, as these conditions lead to quicker evaporation. The deer also appreciate having water available, though strictly speaking they weren't invited to the party.
