sturdy but not as pictured, screws in photo were counter sunk and matching wood stain. Needed a prop or 2 person to assemble and some hole were slightly too large so screws didn't tightened as they should have . Materials were of good quality and should handle the weight capacity. Hint : I used perm. marker on screws to hide the standout shining metal, but best to do before construction. Hope this helps.

The step stool is sturdy and looks good next to my high bed. I moved to a new house and wanted to replace my plastic stool with a piece of furniture.

I've had this for more than 8 years, and it's still standing and looking good! I say that because I am over the weight load and have moved across states with this stool. My bed has 3 king mattresses and sits high. This has been the only stool that I've used to enter and exit my bed. It's getting slightly wobbly now, but I've definitely gotten my monies worth.
