5 Stars
I bought this recliner for my elderly mom who is I'll at this moment. She was sitting on a loveseat to watch tv and I knew she wasn't comfortable and she kept complaining that her back was hurting. As soon as she sat on her new chair, she was thrilled. The chair is perfect for her size. She is 5'3". The head rest is just right and her back is supported. A taller person might not be as comfortable, regarding the headrest. The chair itself is very comfy. It has a nice soft fabric. Since it's a very light color, I also bought her a cover for it. The only thing that she has a hard time with is closing the chair when she's done reclining but I'm hoping it get easier for her as time goes by. Over all my mom loves her new recliner and that makes me very happy!!
Don't waste your money
Reviews are funny sometimes. All reviews are really are people's opinions on the product and everyone has different opinions. You never know what to believe when reading a review. But I am going to be honest about this chair.
Rocking manual recliner: cream fabric
My new recliner arrived so quickly! And in perfect condition. First time I have ever seen corner protectors on the outside of a cardboard box. Assembly was easy— just attach the handle for raising/lowering the footrest, slide the back onto the seat, and attach the bottom of the back fabric flap to the underside of the back (Velcro). It took a long time to find a rocking recliner in a cream fabric. There is so much grey and taupe and brown, and so much leather, and just not many rocking recliners, period. The fabric is not velvet, and not luxurious, but it’s the color I wanted and looks like it will hold up well. It’s kind of a chenille, but not super soft. I would give 5 stars except, as some other reviews noted, it is very difficult to operate the manual lever when lowering the footrest after raising it. I am pretty strong, but it is a struggle. I’m hoping it will loosen up a little over time. The recline positions are reached by pushing the seat back using your body weight plus actively pushing with your feet on the footrest and your arms gripping the armrests. But you can recline in different stages, and reach a full recline if you wish. The rocking motion (you can rock only when sitting upright) is smooth and quiet. It’s a very nice addition to the bedroom, although not the easiest recliner to operate. It is a comfortable chair,

Nice chair! Perfect size for my bedroom
Nice chair! It is sturdy, compact and comfortable. I like the solid padding on the arms rather than those big puffy "clouds" that start shifting over time. Handle releases the footrest and then you have to push back to recline but it's not too difficult. To sit back up you push down with your legs as you pull the handle to sit up and lock in the footrest. Again, it's not difficult to do. In full recline my heels are fully on the footrest, no overhang . (I am a senior citizen and 5'4" in height.) No tools required for assembly. Back sections slides easily into the seat section. The handle mechanism works smoothly and is not too loud. I bought a blue one, and I just might get a red one for my living room.
Solid performing basic recliner
I tend to be a fairly conservative reviewer, so please take that into account as you read this review. I remodeled my home office, and have always wanted a recliner for deep thinking [cough], and found a perfect spot for one. I needed one relatively small, neutral in color so as not to clash with the rest, and comfortable for me. The last is important given my history of falling off roofs and other back injuries. What feels good to me has never been dependent on price, it just plain feels good to a 5' 10" 85kg worked-out nurse! Pros Color is a nice neutral grey fabric, doesn't clash with anything, looks relatively stain-hiding. The resin handle for the action (which works well, btw) is sturdy and I have no doubts about it remaining so, but it still is a chunk of plastic that will be replaced with cherry wood. Not synthetic leather. I love real leather, but have never really had all that much luck with vegan or plastics. Fabric to me is second only to leather, and this fabric looks good, isn't of a texture likely to pill, and is coarse enough weave to allow air circulation while remaining nice and smooth. It is a relatively comfortable chair, not the greatest I can imagine, but certainly acceptable at this price point. When reclined, the back padding is thin enough to just feel the frame at my shoulders, so I might not want to sleep in it, but napping isn't a problem nor is sitting up. The action is of a standard scissor type but feels beefy enough to be durable. There is no auto-life feature, which makes my PT friends happy. The lever feels very much like one my parents bought forty years ago and still is in daily use. It is not a big recliner, but it is a recliner and is not zero clearance. Make sure you check your measurements! Cons The plastic handle. Yes its sturdy, but it is plastic. Not leather [purely a price issue, guys]. Heavy enough that a second set of hands would be helpful in moving. Box says #76, which feels right; it was a handful for me!. Overall impression: if you are looking for a reasonable recliner that won't freak out your physical therapist, is unobtrusive, and is [apparently] sturdy, this is a good choice. The one star deduction is for the back cushion, and is based on my comfort only!
FOR THE MONEY, VERY NICE
First of all, Overstock gets 5-stars right off the bat. We waited for more than 4 weeks for a recliner that we ordered from Ashley Furniture - they changed the delivery date twice. On the day of delivery, they called again to say it would be another two weeks. That's when I knew I'd been a SAP. I had been looking for recliners online in previous months and the only reason I did not go with Overstock the first time was because I thought it would be better if the chair were brought in the house assembled, as opposed to having a giant box delivered and having to put the chair together. However, this turned out to be not a big deal at all. UPS brought the box right to my doorstep and we just "rolled it in" the front door. (it fit fine). The chair came in three pieces, with the handle and one bolt & wingnut attached underneath the seat. It literally took less than 5 minutes to assemble this chair. Let me say that in the future, I would prefer the Overstock method of shipment and CUSTOMER SERVICE. The chair was due to arrive in 4 days but actually arrived after 2 days. As others have said, the seat part is very firm, and I have to admit that our previous recliner was a big cushy (expensive) chair, with oodles of padding - and this recliner is not that. But for the price and the top-notch service of Overstock, I am happy with the purchase. I think the seat part will become more soft and cushy over time - we have a loveseat recliner that also had a rather solid seat but after two years is a lot more comfortable! I just want to give Overstock.com a big round of applause for literally SAVING my holidays by being reliable, dependable and helpful!
