Looks Nice, Poor Quality
While it looks great, the manufactured wood is easy to damage. It was easy to assemble, and the directions were clear, but the pre drilled holes were prone to splitting.
It's Chill
Aside from the complicated directions, this mid-century modern tv stand goes well with other similar style pieces. The height is perfect for those who prefer low sitting furniture. I am not using it as a tv stand as my tv is mounted on the wall, so there is plenty of space for other decor.
Unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros on this piece. I first want to state that the description doesn’t line up with what I received. I was shopping for a solid wood simple tv console for a large tv. While it is large it is not simple nor solid wood which the specifications stated. The next con is the building time. It took well over two hours to put together with minimal instructions and poor pictures to follow along. Another con is the quality, although it wasn’t solid wood, the MDF wasn’t even of good quality. It was chipping on the corners as I was putting it together. Next was the parts/ pre drilled hole situation. I was missing a few screws and the pre drilled holes weren’t always there. And as you can imagine, drilling into MDF wood with no pre drilled holes is a nightmare. The legs were also cheap plastic so from afar they are alright but not the quality I was looking for. The only pro I can think of is the hinges are the non slam kind which was cool. Overall you get what you paid for and if there were a few adjustments like having all the parts I would be happier with this purchase.
Disappointing
I purchased this stand 14 months ago. Realizing how low to the ground it was I replaced the plastic legs with hairpin legs to give it more height and add to the MC aesthetic and it made it look much better. However it has started to bow in the center with just a tv, some smaller books and table lamp. I would not recommend this piece.
Material is underwhelming and you need a drill!
It fits well and I like the colors but a couple things: 1. Make sure you look at the height because it’s shorter than I expected. 2. It comes with a piece of crayon to fix the chips in the particle board because it’s not made of quality product (granted the crayon hides the dings pretty well). 3. You don’t need a power drill, but DANG it makes it easier to put together. This is a two person process.
I bought this item in "Multi Color Red and Blue" and 70 inches for $*** (post-coupon). I probably would not have paid more for it, given the quality. It's cute and fits into my turquoise and fuchsia color scheme pretty well. Also, the manual says it can accommodate up to 55'' tvs, even though the description here on Overstock only says 50". Cons: - The colors are a little different than in the photos here. The wood is lighter, and the red/blue is more muted. - The legs are ABS plastic. I knew this from reading the reviews, so I bought wooden legs to use instead, and they look pretty great. The bottom wood layer of the stand is on the thin side though, so the nails I used to attach the leg hardware poke through just a little bit, unfortunately. - There aren't always pre-drilled holes, such as for the legs, so you may have to measure a little to get the placement even. - If you use the back piece, it only has one hole in the middle to pull power cords through, so you won't be able to get any cords in through the side drawers. I decided not to use the back piece, and it looks fine without one. And some pros: + Assembly was easy. You'll need a drill and hammer, but the instructions were simple and easy to follow. There are extra nails and hardware in case you need them. + The pattern is pretty fun and unique. Although I guess you could get the same effect by buying a similar stand and putting a wallpaper treatment on the drawers.
Average quality but difficult to assemble. Directions state all wood is labeled which is incorrect and did not have all the screws to assemble. Would have been easier if areas that needed to screwed into the wood would have had countersunk holes to start the screws' Directions were minimal and had to compare with pictures to get the right part. Long assembly. Price point was good.
Terrible instructions and cheap materials
I had a bad feeling when I opened the box and saw two corners of the top piece chipped. What made this tricky to build was the completely inaccurate instructions. There weren’t any holes to mark where the legs were supposed to be drilled into. Even after drilling 4 nails, the leg was still loose and not secure! This happened for 4 out of the 5 legs. Very frustrating. The hinges of the cabinet doors were another story. You have to be precise lining up the hinges otherwise the bottom of the door scrapes and doesn’t close smoothly. Existing holes on majority of the pieces were not lined up. Hesitant to put my flat screen on it. It’s been two days since I built it and haven’t used it yet.
Run away!
Beware! This item in the multi-color red blue looks NOTHING like the picture! The cabinet is a washed out walnut and the multi-color panels are washed out pinkish and greenish. Customer service was no help whatsoever. This is my first and last order from Overstock!
The main reason for 3 stars is because it was damaged in shipping/delivery. Honestly, its probably not fair to reflect that on the product but it's part of the purchase so I'll note it. If there had been some styrofoam around the product I think it would have survived. The damaged part was located on the front (of course) but the product came with a couple of crayons specifically to touch up scratches. I know this sounds crazy but I colored in the crushed corner and it's passable. I did use the crayons over some of the finish as well. Beyond that I am happy with the product. Assembly was medium with 2 people. The best part was that the doors were quiet close and after a bit of adjustment they work great!
Tough Tv Stand
This was one of the hardest things to put together. The instruction said made easy which clearly wasn’t the case. I really should have deep dive into the reviews. Like many mentioned the legs are plastic and you will definitely need a power tool for all of the work you have to do. The doors don’t have markings for you to put them in properly so it’s like hope they’re even. Anyways, it’s definitely smaller than I expected and placing my 49’ in tv on top now it’s caving in the middle and I’d rather throw it away than fight to get my money back as I don’t even want to dis assemble it.
Terrible quality. Top panel has a crack in the middle ( see photo) One or the assembly parts is missing so I had to think how to replace it. The places for door hinges are not predrilled, so I guessed where to put screws. My worst experience with assembled furniture. Over all the look is cute, but very cheap. One one thing is good is the price. Doesn’t make sense even send for refund. Definitely not recommending to any one.
The width of the item is as expected. Even though I knew the measurements, I was still surprised that it was not as tall as I expected. It is rather small in size. I still like it though. It was pretty easy to assemble. I do not like that there was not exact measurements to attach the cabinet doors. You get what you pay for.
Overall Review
This TV stand is exactly what I expected! It looks so modern and sleek. The legs are plastic and are kind of hard to place. There are TINY predrilled holes indicating where to place each leg, but they are very hard to see. Overall, once it was built it was very sturdy and large enough to hold my husband's PS4, Xbox, our sound bar, and a few other electronics. The shelves are set in place and they don't give much room for movies and such.
Poor Quality & Need Tools for Assembly
Looks okay but quality is quite poor. Even the styrofome in the box was of poor quality - was falling apart and got all over my apartment. Should say that you need a drill & hammer for assembly. Looks okay from far away but not confident this will last more than a few years. Much more complicated to put together than *** furniture
We love this tv stand!! Affordable mid century modern. We made a mistake and nailed the backing with the white side facing out. It feels like cardboard, so we didn’t want to take the risk of removing the 100 little nails and flipping it. I also wish that the hole for cords was a bit smaller and placed lower. I absolutely love the soft touch doors - definitely makes it feel more expensive.
Cheap Particle Board
Very disappointed with this product. We decided to try this tv console after looking at the pictures, reading the reviews, and Most Importantly reading that the material it is made with is wood. IT’S NOT WOOD! It’s made with cheap particle board and even cheaper thin paper veneer. Even the legs are cheap plastic. To top it off screws were missing and so were the pre-drilled holes. Nearly impossible to return after the box has been opened, this console will be hidden in a closet, given away, or tossed.
