Once assembled, we really liked this piece. It looks nice, and the shelves are super handy. However, be warned: There were basically no directions, and it was challenging to assemble. It took my very handy husband a couple of hours. Also note: This comes in a very long, very heavy box. The shippers dropped it in the middle of my driveway, and it was challenging to slide inside.

Poor quality

I had to have a second one shipped as the first one was damaged in shipping. The boards were not labeled and the instructions had pictures with labels. We were able to get it together; with a lot of frustation. One of the boards broke when my husband stepped on it. We are going to make an adjustment to get it to work. I would not recommend this product!

Really impressed- seriously!

In the days of old, buying such items made using pressboard was a real gamble. This headboard I have to say is near perfect. I had no trouble putting it together myself, though I would recommend two people. And for goodness sake DO NOT use a drill unless you are experienced with one. If you have a ratcheting screwdriver, that’s gonna give you the best adaptive help. Otherwise just a good, slim screwdriver will get it done. I would say my actual rating would be a 4.75, docking a partial star only bc the individual pieces aren’t labeled with a sticker but are labeled in the assembly diagram. However, that said, this truly is closed to a no brainer to put together even with no labels. Just take your time and look back at the finished assembly pic as needed. I love that it’s freestanding bc I have an adjustable bed. Alright enough said - if you’re on the fence about it, just go for it!

Pass on this one

None of the parts were labeled. Directions said to connect H11 to H7, but nothing was labeled. We had to spend extra time figuring that part out based on the diagram when it could've just been labeled.

it works but difficult to put together.

this was one of the few king headboards that said it would work with my adjustable bed. it does work for that, and it's now been holding up nicely. though it was a little short so I had to add extra feet.

Beautiful once it's built but must warn you if you're not careful the paint chips easily off the furniture. Take my advice prepare before starting to build it. Put all pieces on a piece of cloth or on cardboard handle with care. Organize the hardware (I was missing one screw and had to pause and order from the warehouse, which was no problem) Number all of your pieces first. Pay attention to the way the pieces go finishes facing forward. Plan to be there for at least 2 hours and get help to carry the unit so that you don't damage the finish. My husband aded extra brackets from the extra pack of hardware we received and it's super sturdy. For the price I can't complain. Once its done its a nice looking piece. I love the expensive look of it and it's super functional which is what I was looking for. No more putting my glasses cell phones on the floor. Make sure to add coasters right away because it will damage if you put water on this furniture. Wipe with a dry cloth to dust and that's it. We are glad we purchased it.

Terrible instructions but good quality headboard

The quality of the headboard is really nice and it looks really nice put together! The only downfall is the instructions are awful. It would make it much easier if Overstock stamped a number or letter on it so you knew which piece you were using. We ended up having to use a nail gun on two of the trim pieces because we could not figure out how to get them on the right way and the instructions are all black and white. Only downfall to the piece, otherwise would definitely recommend.

You get what you pay for

I should have read tye reviews before purchasing. I bought the headboard, bedframe, 2 night stands, tall dresser, and long dresser. I've never had brand new bedroom furniture, so I was super excited to get this. It's a pain in the butt to put together so if you can afford it, have it shipped to your house and assembled for you. Let someone else have the headache! It would be great if the pieces were labeled because then it would be much easier to put together. Other than that, it is pretty. My husband and I are still putting it together so we'll see how the quality is!

A flat-pack headboard that can be easily assembled

Be aware, this is 86 pounds of flat-packed material you're going to have to deal with! It doesn't hurt to have a friend who can help you move it. This is a bit of effort to assemble, but you won't be disappointed by it. The packaging it is shipped in protects it from the inevitable damage that carriers tend to subject heavy items like this to while in transit. Plenty of extra components for assembly. There's only 12 steps but they are a bit time consuming. Don't rush, and be sure to have a power screwdriver or drill with a screwdriver bit on hand, your wrist will thank you later when you're in the later steps. The instructions are pretty well illustrated and don't need a lot of text for you to understand what you're doing when putting it together. The finished product looks quite nice!

As advertised, but some minor design annoyances...

Overall, it's good quality and does the job. The drawers are great and move smoothly. But. There's a gap where things can fall down between the headboard and the mattress, and getting them out again is quite challenging! More so if the thing that fell down is your glasses. I solved the problem by stapling black fabric over the gap, so that nothing can fall in to that no-man's land. You can't see it once the mattress is back in place, so it's not a difficult problem to solve, but I can't be the only person who has this problem. Also, be aware that the headboard is slightly wider than a king-sized bed.

Dont do it unless you want to play the guess game!

ok so I received this item with no letters/numbers marked on any of the pieces nothing at all to tell you what was what luckily I'm not completely inadequate when it come to putting furniture together but still come on really I paid way to much money on it in the first place plus there was some dings and scratches on it too if it would have been package better this wouldn't have been a problem and if it wasn't so heavy I would have sent it back. I'm not to happy at all about the item I received the fact that nothing was labeled really peed me off. took twice as long putting it together than it should oh and all the hardware is mixed in one bag good luck guessing what's what some if it was self explanatory. Only reason I'm giving it to stars is because once I got it put together and fixed the dings and scratches made it look decent it didn't look half bad. I'll never purchase from this company again and anyone thinking about it taking a gamble on if it's going to be labeled it not that's if they even label there product I mean come on how much does a couple stickers cost and little separation going to cost ya especially when your charge high dollar for some chip board. I don't recommend at all.

Impressive from a distance

This bookcase style King headboard was well protected against shipping damage with sprayed- in foam and plastic channels protecting the wood. It was received from UPS in excellent condition. I didn't rate it higher due only to its construction of pressed wood chips and vinyl contact paper. It went together easily with clear instructions and a screwdriver and rubber hammer. Suggested improvements would be to break it up into 2 shipping cartons rather than 1. The 70 lb weight made handling a chore. Also identifying the panels by the factory would be helpful. It is free-standing and isolated from movement of the bed. The thin vinyl is easily torn but I repaired slight handling scratches with a black marker pen. Lowe's had a decent price and is always my first choice because they generously give a military discount. I suggest you assemble it in the space you will install it. If made from real wood it would cost several hundred more $$$. My wife loves it.

Serve its purpose.

I bought this board for my guest room. The material is super average and mostly cardboard. Don't expect not be a long lasting item if you plan to use it often. It looks very good with the proper decoration and the convenience that you don't need To have side night tables because you can put small lamp on it and it comes with compartments for whatever you need to put there at night like you phone or book. It took two people several hours to ensemble, because the instructions are not that clear, you can't tell in the draw if is the back or the front...and have to have extra precautions because the material is pressed board, so if you hit it, it'll scratch or dissolve in chips. And I wish it was a little higher because the pillows block the compartments. Overall, is a good price but probably not a good deal.

Doesn’t Fit the same make bed

To start with, the good. Shipped on time. Easy to assemble. That earned it the two stars.

Cheap Quality and Wobbly

It matches exactly what the picture shows, and once it is in place it looks good. When it arrived it had scratches and nicks all over, we had to get a furniture pen to make it look good again. We put it together very well, double checking everything and it is still quite wobbly. If it wasn't squished between the wall and bed I would be concerned about someone knocking it over. The instructions were clear for the most part except in a couple places where we had to redo pieces, but since the pieces are very flimsy and cheaply made, it was weak after redoing them. Also, there were a couple places in the instructions to nail and screw but weren't marked on the actual boards themselves. We have put together several pieces of furniture previously and this one should have been easier than it was. Once it was finished, edited by us, then secured in place, it looks really good. So, I would recommend it with a disclaimer to my friends.

Could be great with two minor changes

There are a two issues with their packaging, that if changed, could make this a 5 star product. My first issue was that nothing is labeled. Not a huge deal as I can figure out what each piece is. But whoever sorts the pieces for the product cannot. There are two panels for the bottom that are mirror pieces of one another. Unfortunately we received two of the same piece instead of one for each side. The headboard cannot be properly put together because of this. If the pieces had been labeled this may not happen. The second issue is with stacking all of the boards. None of the boards are wrapped, causing them to rub against one another leaving every piece with some type of scuff or scratch. If they would add a piece of packing paper between each piece this may help in preventing this from happening. Once you get past these two issues it is a great product. It is very sturdy and exactly what we wanted.

Nice - Functional -

I ordered this on 9-27-17 and received it 9-29-17. WOW I can't believe how fast the delivery was on this bed. Shipping : When it was delivered it was just leaned against my garage door and no one rang the doorbell to let us know it was delivered only reason why we knew it was delivered was when we left the house. Good thing it was tall enough that it leaned on the top rails of my gutter and not the actual garage. Otherwise it would have been disaster when we opened the garage. Assembly: Recommend 2 people. took my husband and I about 1hr30Min to put together. Although my husband and I are Tech people so it was easy. For a person, not too technical it may be more difficult as there are NO labels on any of the panels or screw bags. So, we found it helpful to lay all the pieces out and label the wood panels based off the instructions by matching screw holes. Once the headboard was finally put together it is pretty nice looking a few dings, on the surface, but I think that was our fault just maneuvering things around we scuffed it up a bit. I used black acrylic paint to cover up dings. Pros- Its nice and functional. And love the overall look, doesn't look cheap but nice and classy. Cons: No labels on panels for assembly, does not have holes to mount to the walls for stability. Also bought this with Black King Mate's Platform Storage Bed, colors match perfect, but the width of the bed frame and headboard are about ½ inch off on each side so it cannot be mounted together and causes 2 inch gap from the headboard and bed frame. So we had to fabricate a buffer between the bed frame and headboard. Additional: We got a king bed, you do not need box springs with the frame as it will make the bed too high and cover the headboard. So we ended up returning out box springs at ***

Overall, a good product for the price. Certainly not fine, hardwood furniture, but it looks good, is sturdy, and reasonably well designed. Not overly difficult to assemble. I've built a number of this type of assemble it yourself pieces over the years, and this one has the same basic cam type connector construction. Probably spent about an hour and a half putting it together, but could have cut that down by at least a third with a couple of small improvements by the manufacturer. First, label the parts. Everything is nicely numbered and described in the instructions, but the parts themselves need to be stamped or have a sticker with the part number on it. Would make it a lot easier to lay out the parts and get things assembled. Second, back is nailed to the frame, which is simple enough, but it would be easier if the recommended spots to nail were either marked (x marks the spot), or maybe pre- drilled. Tapping the nails around the outer section is easy, but lining up the nails with the inner rails is hit or miss. Finally, minor point, but the same comment would apply to the small L braces that are screwed to the under side of the main shelf. Either mark the recommended positions, or pre-drill. Not a major structural component, but easier if you just pointed the way.
