User Manual?

I bought one on the recommendation of my HVAC company. Went to the ecobee website to download a user manual and there seems to be none, only online tutorials. I don't enjoy reading documents on my small SmartPhone so would prefer a download. 3 stars because ecobee couldn't provide something as simple as a downloadable user guide I would not recommend this brand if you have any vision issues and don't want to unable to read on your smartphone.

Easy to Install

The hardest part about purchasing a smart thermostat is wondering if its compatible with your current HVAC setup. One thing I found extremely helpful is the step by step instructions and included conversion that helps if you don’t have a C wire on your system. The directions were very clear and took me around 30 minutes to complete the process. The unit is sleek and easy to understand all the settings. The only thing I needed to adjust was the temperature adjust to allow for proper temperature.

[Rewarded Review] Brand is just a hype

This is the second Ecobee I have had to replace was recommended by contractor to get brand and have considered going back to Honeywell products. The first ecobee I bought stopped sending signals to the unit blew a fuse and then tripped the Contactor on the unit and then the thermostat stopped working completely just went black had to replace all three things. Bought another ecobee and same issue after 9 months thermostat stops sending signals to the unit have to bypass the thermostat to get AC unit running. Love the vacation and scheduling features but hate the fact that it has caused so much issues with my unit in a span of 2 years

Save money, be comfortable

Upgraded from a traditional programmable thermostat to ecobee. Installed myself with minor issues. Beware, if you have a HVAC Heat Pump system the wires don’t connect to the terminals the same way as the old thermostat. R and RC have a jumper between them. The for ecobee has no jumper. RC wire needs to be to O/B terminal to get heat/cool operation. If not connected this way all you will get is heat mode. You will know if you have it set up correctly when you run setup on your thermostat. It will tell you if it is wired for a furnace or HVAC Heat Pump. If it says furnace it will have the option for HVAC Heat Pump. Selecting this option will have heat/cool modes. When cool is used only heat will run. Must have RC wire connected to O/B connection to get cool to work. Getting sensors to control thermostat is not easy. Too many variables to meet before it will make the changes. Easier to just program a schedule. Then you can change it manually. At least you can do this remotely on your phone. Eco+ is what allows the sensors to control the thermostat. Not very useful though. Too much programming. Only works under certain conditions.

[Rewarded Review] ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium and SmartSensors

We have been using the ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium for about 1 month now and love it. It replaced an old AprilAire programmable thermostat. Installation was pretty simple once I sorted out the wiring running to the old thermostat. I had an extra wire (3 extras actually) that the old thermostat did not use that I connected to 24V common on the furnace control center (which Bryant did a good job of hiding from plain view) to use as the "C" wire on the ecobee. If you don't have a "C" wire available, ecobee includes their Power Extender Kit (PEK) in the box that you can use as an alternative.

Great smart thermostat with large screen

I replaced my Nest thermostat with this Ecobee. First I have to say customer service is great,I had some installation issues and customer service stayed on the phone until the install was completed and verified working. There is a learning curve with this over the Nest and that’s because there are many more features. I especially like the large touch screen easy to navigate. The app is well thought out with lots of customization. I’m still getting used to everything but I am happy with my upgrade.

ECO+ feachers do not work well

I bought ecobee premium to get more out of my new two-stage furnace. My existing thermostat and old furnace had only single-stage control. The new furnace had an algorithm for using two stages with a single-stage thermostat. It went to the high setting way too fast. The ecobee two-stage control handled this.

I could not get the unit to work properly with the Power extender. The Ecobee momentarily turned the fan off EXACTLY every 3 minutes in Fan, Heat and AC mode. Once I installed using 5 wire mode eliminating the powerer extender it worked fine. Love the unit compared to the old NEST that it replaced. Ecobee touch screen is far superior to the Nest twist/toggle selection that became very intermittant after several years of operation and unit could only be set with their app. Ecobee integrates well with Alexa. Schedule is much easier to setup than the Nest.

[Rewarded Review] Bug with Air Quality Monitor

This is the first smart thermostat that I've used. Purchased this because my HVAC installer recommended it. I like the features it has and being able to control temperature in the whole house with my phone. My only complaint is with the air quality monitor. After having this my house for over a year now, I get notifications so frequently that it's really useless. I've been doing some research and apparently there is an issue that if the difference in actual air quality is not significant, it can lead to this problem. There is a way to recalibrate the sensor by exposing the thermostat to strong vapors ... haven't been able to get this to work, so I'll be turning those alert notifications off and just know that what I see on the thermostat is probably not correct. That's why I'm giving this 3 stars.

Ecobee quality has dropped A LOT

I've owned four Ecobee thermostats. They used to be great, but I can't believe what a colossal piece of junk this one is. None of the sensors are remotely accurate:

Has good and bad points to it.

Good points: Good tech support, comes with adapter if you don't have a C wire to your existing thermostat. Programming the schedule via the app is a much improved update over the previous web based version.

Ecobee has been nothing but a colossal pain!

After 2 years of inconsistent and unpredictable performance Ecobee has failed entirely. I am sitting in a scorching house in the Florida heat waiting for service by the company that installed it which is not available until tomorrow at a steep emergency rate. I look forward to having the Ecobee replaced by a manual thermostat I can control myself and never look back, at a cost of $450. The Ecobee product simply does not perform as claimed. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have come home to the heat blasting full force when heat was not even needed. Surprise changes in the thermostat settings abound. I am just done!

[Rewarded Review] Easy setup and great support

Bought this after one of my 10 year old thermostats died. I’m a complete novice at all of this and was very worried about the installation. To my surprise this was by far the easiest install I’ve ever done. You download the app, it asks you a bunch of questions about your setup, and then it gives you detailed steps with pictures on how to install it. I have a dual zone system and I wanted to make sure I fully understood how to wire it so I called their support number and I was VERY surprised, it rang twice and someone answered. They didn’t ask for any information or serial numbers or anything, I just explained what was going on, what my question was, they answered it, and encouraged me to call back if I had any questions no matter how minor. I was literally off the phone in less than 5 minutes, no holds and no heavy accents. The rest of the installation was quick and easy and they’re both connected to my homekit and everything is working great. Can’t recommend enough.

The ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium is one of the top-tier smart thermostats on the market, especially suited for those invested in smart home ecosystems and interested in optimizing energy usage. Its air quality monitoring is a standout feature, adding to its value as a home climate and wellness tool. While the price is higher than some other smart thermostats, the robust features and design justify the premium. The icing on the cake is to have a personal assistant that can play your favorite music.

You are supposed to start by scanning a QR code and downloading the app to get the install instructions, but no QR code I used worked, so I just had to download the app and manually enter my info.

Second replacement failed

We have gone through 2 ecobees. The first Ecobee 3 had to be replaced after one year. Since it was discontinued an Ecobee 4 was sent as replacement. After 4 years, the Ecobee 4 is no longer working properly. Our HVAC technician determined it was a faulty Ecobee that would not turn on the compressor and not turn off the blower. A highly rated product by many websites and people, but its actually durability and warranty is disappointing. We have decided to use another product as the thermostat has become a paperweight

50% success rate and meh customer service

I purchased 2 of these thermostats for my home. Easy install and one is working great. The other has an internal sensor error and never fully worked from installation. My HVAC unit is working fine with my new Honeywell so it is clearly the thermostat issue. Customer service is hard to contact and even worse for reimbursement. I even tried to get a camera instead of a new thermostat (less money for them) and they required a work order from my HVAC tech despite the previous Customer Service agent having no issue with the information that I had already provided. I just finished with another agent and I am now getting a replacement (useless to me) thermostat that I will just hang onto when the only working one in the house decides to quit and I can try it out. If you enjoy throwing your money away and being frustrated then, by all means, by this product. I would highly recommend staying away from Ecobee products simply for the lack of customer service when you really need it (when the product is having issues).

Great Interactivity with Alexa

A little complex to install, took about an hour, but got it done with video instruction support. It easily and smoothly integrates with our Alexa, so it is easy to adjust with simple voice commands. We love the sensor in our bedroom so we stay cooler at night even with doors closed/open, much improved over the single sensor only in the original thermostat several rooms away. It knows when our bedroom is the only occupied room and adjusts to that sensor. I also love being able to adjust the temp remotely from my phone so we can cool off the house just before we arrive home or save energy if we are away longer than we thought.

Mostly works

For the most part this works as expected. I find the major drawback and quite honestly a major nuisance is the air quality monitor. I can find no way to turn this off.

Passed around by 3 associates

Product is great. The problem are the ill trained people. I was passed around to three different associates. The whole time I had to escorted since I had the product in hand. There is an instant rebate of $75 for this thermostat. The last associate finally determined that I had to pay for the thermostat, go home and apply for the rebate. I did and lost out on $75. It has to be approved prior to purchase. Maybe $75 isn’t much to Lowe’s but I’m retired and it’s a lot.
