EEmax electric water heater

I want to tell everyone who is checking this unit out. I do not recommend this one to anyone. We had ours for 7 months and started having trouble with it. We called EEMAX and they sent us a part but it still didn't work write. You think they would send us another one but they said they couldn't do that. We done everything they told us to do. We will never buy this brand.

Replacement of failed unit

This 24018 replaced a 24018 purchased six years ago. That unit performed as expected until the control flow sensor began failing last month, causing the unit to short and arc with a loud bang and a cloud of acrid smoke. The new unit has a redesigned flow sensor and a some minor changes. As for performance, it is ideal for a small 110 year-old pier & beam house. The water heater services one bathroom, the kitchen sink, and the washing machine. No dishwasher.

Dependable Hot Water

I’m a 67 year old retired Navy Veteran our hot water tank started leaking so we removed it and cleaned up the mess. Planed on another tank heater but having the tank being heated all the time can get expensive so decided to try the electric tankless. After researching we decided on this one so ordered online downloaded the instructions on PDF and went to Lowe’s to get two 40 amp circuit breakers and 8/2 wire for the install. Planned on plastic pipe but decided to do copper and shark bite fittings watched a couple utube videos on the shark bite fittings and did the installation which took about 5 hours which doesn’t include the three trips to Lowe’s buying fittings and pipe. I mounted the heater to a 2’ by 2’ birch plywood that I stained and sealed. As per the instructions I ran lots of water through the heater to the kitchen and bathroom sinks ensuring all air bubbles were out of the system. Turned on the breakers then the heater and nice hot water. I keep the temperature at 120 for doing dishes and 108 after for hand washing or showers. We like it a lot.

Where’s The Hot Water?

I had really high hopes for this water heater, but I’m disappointed. We installed without any problems. The sinks get hot water fine, the showers do not. We took our faucet apart to check the anti-scold valve, but ours was at the highest setting. The water starts out hot and gets luke warm. Only other thing could be causing this, too much pressure. We got a low pressure valve, but have not installed it yet. We have spent almost $300 extra trying to get hot water. I noticed in the sink this morning while running hot water and starting the dishwasher the water started getting colder. Maybe it takes getting used to, but I wish we didn’t have so much invested or I would take back and get a regular one. I had high hopes!!

Not worth it

Bought this to replace a lowboy tank for a 2 bed/2 bath with just a single occupant. While it is good for the shower, the unit gives E5 errors and takes about a full minute to provide lukewarm water anytime a sink faucet is open at full (even with no other hot water being run). Of note, the cold water is feeding in at about 50 degrees. When running the bath, vice the shower, the flow problem is worst, with the bath water being cooler than lukewarm. On days when the laundry is run on a hot cycle, my electric bill usage ticks up notably. I'm definitely going to replace this with another lowboy tank for better consistency with hot water and probably better energy savings.

Tankless outlives tank water style heaters!

Our first Eemax tankless hot water heater stopped working after 15 years! So while pursuing to purchase for a new heater, and after checking out several brands, we went back and bought the Eemax. Now digital, and you can adjust the temperature from the outside of the unit with the numbers being large and visibal. Very much improved (from all the older models). I can once again stand in the shower for as long as I want without worrying about the hot water running out! Love my tankless units.

Very unreliable!!

I have had this hot water heater for at least a year now, and I would Not recommend wasting your money. It is so unreliable, I will all of a sudden get cold water. Furthermore, You have to have the water pressure extremely low to be able to get get AND keep hot water flowing. I had a plumber check on it and basically related it to the hot water heater being unable to keep up with the water pressure. I am very disappointed with this product and am seriously considering going back to a tank hot water heater. My hot water heater that was 10+ years old was more reliable than this thing!

Eemax brand breaks quickly

We did a full house renovation and put this product on our side and a smaller version on the apartment side of our house. The other one broke in a few months. When I tried to return it, it was a fiasco between Lowes and the manufacturer blaming each other. You cannot call the manufacturer directly, you will be on hold infinitely. I had to guess random extensions until I got through to someone who apologized and offered to replace the unit. I still had to pay hundreds to a plumber and electrician to remove and reinstall the new one.

[Rewarded Review] Great temperature and water pressure!!!

No disappointment with product here, if your not happy with it, you probably ordered the wrong size. After Lowe's finally got this shipped to me, I completed a self install over the course of about a day. It would have been much faster had I any previous plumbing or electrical experience. The plumbing was my nemesis and it had nothing to do with the unit, had a few small leaks with connections through the service valve kit, however was able to resolve with some good advice. I engaged Eemax multiple times prior to purchase and install while researching units and they are awesome, very knowledgeable and easy to get ahold of. You should install a service valve kit which will include a shut off valve on both the inlet and outlet side. Not only will this enable easy completion of recommended flush/descaling, it also eliminates the potential need for a water pressure reducer as you can manually adjust via the outlet ball valve. I have no issues with either water temperature (set to 119) or pressure, my furthest faucet is about 30' away. Single occupant household so I cannot speak potential issues if using multiple outlets at once. Operation is silent, did save some space vs old 40 gallon, but face it, the pipes/hoses still have to go somewhere, but it is pretty. So far I most enjoy setting my shower handle in one spot and knowing I'll never have to adjust it again, unless I choose to vary it, and most looking forward to energy savings/previous year comparisons. Eemax sells the identical unit direct/alternate vendors under the Home Advantage II Series, which had more research material available. I will never go back to standard tank. I highly recommend this, or whatever size Eemax tankless water heater is appropriate for your needs. This was installed in a home on the Washington coast, water temperature green some on the map. Side note to avoid confusion, this is not an instant hot water system, but it is an endless supply at set temperature; it takes about a minute for the water to heat and deliver at my furthest faucet, and then it's consistent throughout period of use. Furthest faucets will take longest to heat and may be slightly lower in temperature depending on pipe type due to heat loss through attenuation, and likely the same expected with multiple faucets running at once.

[Rewarded Review] Replaced our Propane water heater in a Mobile home

I replaced our propane water heater in a mobile home in Southern Missouri. I ran the wiring, set up new breaker panels, breakers, and changed all the plumbing to pex. From start to finish took from about 6pm to 10pm, including removing all the old plumbing (galv steel), the old propane tank, mounting new Square D boxes, putting a support 3/4" blank on the wall (overkill), and final wiring. The kids and wife now take running showers that measure in hours, while also cooking and occasionally laundry at the same time. Not once has the temperature of the water dropped. Very satisfied with this product, I will buy again for the next time a renters water heater goes out. One bit of info that is hard to find, both inlet and outlet ports on this Heater are 3/4" sized.

Compact

This tankless electric water heater is compact. It arrived very quickly after placing the order. My Builder (plumber) installed it in the bathroom but I haven't used it yet because the room isn't finished (new construction). I didn't realize it needed to be installed inside the structure so that it doesn't freeze in the cold weather. But we found a spot above the toilet for it and plan to either build a little cabinet around it or put shelves in front. We also designed a wall plug for it to plug into (not direct wire) and water shut off valve underneath, so that it can be easily detached and flushed each year. (I'm female and didn't know how to do all this but my Builder did).

[Rewarded Review] plenty of hot water

I was skeptical whether this unit would provide enough hot water for a sink and bathroom. I've found that there is plenty of hot water for two people to take a nice, long shower when the outside air is 30 degrees. I don't know what the incoming water temp is, but there has been no problem. The electrical hookup was straightforward BUT you need to have TWO 40 amp breakers and 8 gauge wire. Luckily, I was able to mount the unit fairly near the electrical panel so wiring was not an issue (though I did have to buy another circuit breaker). Even with the two circuit breakers and 8 gauge wire, the lights dim a bit when the unit kicks on. It is supposed to save money over a standard electric water heater. Time will tell but it is nice not having to worry any more about the water heater rusting out and leaking all over the floor (and yes, that is exactly what happened). Overall, I'm pleased with the installation time and how well the water heats up.

Best move for daughter's family

I have had a tankless water heater in my home for several years (different brand & larger) so when my daughter's water heater had to be replaced & she needed my help in purchasing a new one I immediately suggested a tankless. Found this one at Lowe's & I strongly recommended it. I was a little sceptical of it's size but the specs showed it to be adaquate for her mobile home & family (2 adults & 3 children under 11) and only requiring 2 circuits (mine uses 4) it was easier to install in her application.

Absolutely a well built fantastic product

Clearly a number of people who have bought tankless water heaters at Lowe's have never had them before and do not know how to use them. This is a fantastic heater. It can run four things simultaneously in our home with a constant temperature and at a huge saving on our power bill, to the tune of $75 per month in savings!

[Rewarded Review] Great product

After careful consideration of where to install decided on the Attic.(read install manual for Attic installation with pan) My house is big and the other hot water heater was too far away from the upstairs bathrooms. Wasted alot of water waiting for hot water to arrive. After doing the install the plumbing was a snap. Had to run new electric line back to the box. After everything was said and done set the temperature and no more waiting. Instant hot water. I would recommend that you hire an electrician for the wiring. Codes vary also if your not handy get a plumber. All in all very happy with this unit. Plenty of hot water with 2 showers going. Would recommend to anyone. Very easy unit to set at what ever temp you want.

[Rewarded Review] Space-Saving Water Heater

Without any reservation I heartily recommend this space-saving water heater to anyone wanting to save $$$. Taking out a tank type electric heater and replacing with this heater will be one of the best things you can do to control the cost of taking a shower, washing dishes, laundry, etc.. And once you've completed the activity grin real big when you think about it not heating any more water until you are ready to use it. Besides the space you gain by mounting it on a wall it makes a lovely addition to your utility room or basement. When visitors see this tank they are bound to ask questions. With the easily replacable heating elements this heater should last for many years. Adjusting the temperature with the control knob to your precise choosing is very easy and the digital readout tells you the exact water temperature you can expect. A tank type water heater cannot begin to compare with the 99.8 % efficiency of this little dude. Unless you are running a children's home this heater should be all you need. Standard plumbing and electrical connections make installation a breeze. The construction of the heater is high quality and it has a great warranty and is well deserving of your investment.
