Not great

As others have mentioned when first taking these out of the wrapped plastic the first thing you notice is how rough the edges are. These brackets are built with quick production in mind, the steel is sheared, drilled, bent in a brake and wrapped in plastic. I order 12 of these and at $30 something a piece there is an expectation that you are paying for a product that is ready to be installed. The unfinished edges aren't a huge deal once installed, but all of the brake marks from bending are. If these are installed at or above eye level you will be face to face with the uncaring craftsmanship of these fixtures. These marks could be corrected with some light grinding and blending, but I really am unsure if these are plated and the the last thing I want to do is have some discoloration over time if I try to correct these issues myself. Ekena Millwork needs to do better, people are willing to pay for a well crafted finished product. It would be understandable if there were maybe one, two, or three brackets out of the 12 with blemishes, but all that I have unwrapped (5) are unacceptable. Take pride in your name and implement some quality control.

Substantial

These brackets are heavy duty, with that said, you need to hang them properly, according to the wall you have. Finding the studs would be best. Using them to hang an 8 foot shelf. Exactly what I needed.

Sturdy and of good value

These brackets are very sturdy!! The measurements are off a little. I was looking for the inside shelf to fit a 2 x 6 board. I was able to notch out at the bracket to make it work.

These are very sturdy; they weigh almost 2.5 lbs. each! They said they are 12" brackets, so I bought 12" shelves, which were too wide. They are build for 12" dimensional lumber which is more like 11.5" wide. The edges are kind of sharp, but otherwise they are fine.

For the record I ordered the stainless steel 10 in version. I only need it 2. Had to order five to find two that were decent enough to want to keep, many thanks to Lowe's for letting me do that. They are very sturdy. But, on the stainless steel version there were tool marks and grinding burn marks. At very close to $30 each I thought that was poor quality. I can't say this is true of the colored versions

NOT for an 8" piece of glass

8" is the overall depth of the bracket. Inside" measurement is 7.5" not 8". VERY nice bracket though & very heavy. I have to see if I can get the glass I purchased recut. Will go with closer to 7.25" instead due to the curve. An inconvenience especially at the holidays & during the pandemic.

The brackets were not the size indicated, they were a quarter inch smaller. Also, more industrial looking than expected.

Needed this size for my rustic wood kitchen shelf. Turns out, it isn't hammered black steel, it's painted black steel. The paint flakes off, it's flat in some areas and shiny in others, AND there are drips and runs in the paint.
