Beautiful color and solidly built
The sliding shower door is beautiful. The brush gold seems to be high-quality. I just installed it and I will update this if I find after a year it begins to tarnish. The glass is three-quarter inch. The doors are heavy the slide and mechanisms work really well and they are quiet. The only issue I have is that there is about a 4 inch overlap between the doors that is difficult to clean because one side is a panel not a slider.
Well built and looks good
It is put together really well. It was a bit of a job for installation. They have great videos that help. This is not a one person job—the panels are heavy. We put door on top of cast iron tub. You can drill into cast iron. Vigo customer service was very helpful in guiding me through alternative ways to attach door guides (2 part epoxy). It worked perfectly. The adjustable nature of the door really helped to work around an out of plumb wall. Really happy with this door. Looks great and is very solid. Completely worth the money.
Great door but don't ask for spare parts
One wall was out of plumb but getting the fixed wall in didn't pose an issues except for a tiny gap the bottom. To fix it, I moved the tubular piece that is usually affixed along the sliding door to the fixed side. Water egress this way was minimal but not zero so I requested a spare piece from Vigo. I honestly thought they would send me complementary piece since it's an $1100+ CAD door. To my surprise, that little piece was quoted over $75 with all the shipping. The customer service was nice but in the end, not that helpful. Luckily I found a matching piece locally for a lot less.
Great door, Installation instructions not so great.
The ad said for 44-48 inches but since there is only one panel there is an overlap of several inches on a 44 inch shower opening, that makes for a reduced door opening to pass through. You must also have a shower wall panel that is the same the full length of the door. Mine was about 1 1/2 inches wider at the top and I had to do a lot of work to make it so I could use the doors. $200 in materials to not lose the $1000 door already bought. The instructions were confusing on the part that stops the door from opening too far. It came facing downward but needs to face upward. You just need to slide it off the rod and put it on facing up since there is only one hole in the rod. Other than that, it seems fine. Well made components, just not the best information in the installation instructions.
The best I have seen
I bought one of these shower doors for a reno I was doing and was so impressed, I replaced another door in another bathroom with the same one. The quality is outstanding - you will not find a better door anywhere. Everything is adjustable to ensure your installation is completely leakproof - but nothing looks adjustable. The adjustability is built in and completely hidden.
Impressive Hardware and Glass
I just purchased this unit this past month and my wife and I installed it ourselves. I can’t say enough great things about the quality of the product. The instructions however are lacking some important information. More colored pictures of the finished product would be helpful. It’s easy for example to mount the fixed glass panel to the wrong side of the pole. Little things that some may know and some may not. I have quite a bit of experience building things. Better instructions should be given on how things can turn around on the pole for reversal purposes if the door is mounted on the left instead of the right. Mounting the pole on the correct side of the glass is very important because all the measurements are taken with the pole attached to the fixed glass. The pole goes between the fixed panel and shower, fixed panel glass on the outside of the pole. Pole is closest to the inside of the shower. Another thing that should be included in instructions is that the bolts that fit through the shower doors for the handle are adjustable and can rotate out if you need them longer to go through the glass. Out of the box they are in the handle but too short to fit through the glass so the knob can be screwed on. We thought they were too short and then I just tried to rotate the bolt and it came out more. Simple to some but should be in the instructions or just make them the right length in the handle before shipping. Not hard to install once things are put together right. I don’t have the threshold on in these pictures because we wanted to see how the water flow impacted the space. We are going to put that on because some water can get through without it. They recommend two men to install. That is probably a good idea for most but my woman can out work most men so we were good. Definitely recommend. Happy in Hot Springs, AR
Excellent quality. Seriously good.
Very high quality. I installed it myself here in Homer, AK. I used clear silicone caulk against the wall instead of the included gasket ( Masked the areas with tape when doing the caulk for a clean appearance) I would recommend doing the inside caulk first and let it dry some until relatively dry enough not to move around. Then do the outside causing. Otherwise one side of the caulk pushes against the other side and moves it.)
Best packaged product ever. And on sale
So I bought this on sale at home. Depot. Picked it up today. Was debating the install but when I opened the Box. I mean it just yelled. Install me. the box was compartmentalized. No super sticky c*** all over the rails. To save the chrome it was easy to open . every step was just prepackaged. Period highly recommended to any Do it yourself Type individuals. the doors are heavy but nice. The mechanisms are smooth. The Chrome is nice. Instructions are complete. I don't have any bad thing to say about the door or the install highly recommend
Looks great but needs extra care to avoid leaking
Just had a contractor (who has brought an assistant) install the door. Looks great as the picture. It is not easy to install because of the heavy weight. Also the design requires perfect straight walls and perfect leveled bathtub surfaces to avoid leaking. The instructions do not mention which side to install the fixed panel. Our experience is, it is safer to fix the panel at the shower head side to avoid leaking. The door can not close tightly because it is gliding on the bar and there is no force to push it to the wall. When we close the door, the top and bottom closes, but at about 1 foot from the bottom, a tiny gap (can pass a paper) can be seen, between the seal and the tile. we have a totally renovated bathroom, and installed large polished wall tiles. So it is hard to figure out what causes the gap. Luckily we installed the fixed panel on the shower head side, which can see the similarity, but we can use silicone to fill those gaps. Frameless needs extra cares to handle leakage challenges.
A sliding shower door built to last
While remodeling a bathroom, my wife convinced me to get rid of our aging bathtub and build a walk-in shower. With that in mind, I came across the Vigo website and began reviewing the different model shower doors. The more I read, the more convinced I was to select the Vigo Elan door. My house is close to 80 years old, so I opted for the adjustable shower door in the event that future adjustments may need to take place. The materials are rock solid,
Beautiful shower door
Recently we had our contractor replace a tub and install a tiled shower system. To complement the tile work I researched glass shower doors. I believe I looked at every sliding door that was available. I kept going back to the Vigo for both its aesthetics, ease of installation and warranty. Now that the work is complete, we are extremely happy that we chose this door. Looks tremendous and it glides like it’s floating on air. Our contractor even commented that it was the smoothest operating door he’s installed. We feel we made a good decision on the Vigo shower door
High class shower doors
This are heavy do definitely a two person install job. Product was clearly designed for the home owner do it yourself consumer and I’m thankful for that. Having an extra wide shower opening I was faced with a custom door cost until I found this. Install was fairly painless. I purchased a pair of suction cup handles which helped tremendously. It looks fantastic. Took a star off because the rod got scratched up a little while cutting. Maybe in future company can have a protective covering that can be peeled off at moment of install. All parts clearly marked in separate smaller packages/boxes within the main box. Made it easy to find parts. Recommend.
Very high quality product
I just bought this product from Lowes week ago. I really love this Shower Door - Thanks to VIGO team . 100% it is an excellent product and very good design. The Door is very heavy (for Asian guys like us), so we need 3 guys to install it. I recommend to read the manual and watch the installation video before installing. You should mount the RAIL (support bar) on the STUD. We also change the longer screw to reach the stud (thru the thickness of granite, durock board wall and reach stud) . The only concern is that the packaging/delivery is too poor, and I am surprised that the glass doesn't break. The item was delivered to me without pallet.
Game changing
I've seen other doors that look great but don't feel great. Materials are flimsy doors rattle when opened and closed. This thing though... Rolls like butter. Glass is thick and sturdy. Handle and knob are solid and not hollow. I would strongly recommend getting and getting a licensed installer. My installer did struggle but after 2 return visits, he got it. I really hope this door holds up long term. It really is a beautiful piece that tied the whole bathroom together.
Looks good
Contractor just installed. Looks good..... I do have door creep [ door slowly opens ]
Overall great shower doors!
I Would say these are a really nice set of shower doors. Honestly, almost equal to that of what you would get going the custom glass route but for about 1/3 of the price.
Only Company That Makes a 66" HIgh for a Bathtub Door
This review is for an Elan Stainless Steel 66" high door. I needed this stainless steel 66" high for a Bathtub door, and it worked great. However, the company installation manual is lacking. To use this for a tub, this is my recommendation for instructions
Good quality sliding doors pro installation
This was the only door I could find that fit the large space I have for my remodelled shower. I am happy with the way it moves and the glass strength. I thought it was weird that the installation has the stationary glass beside the shower on the outside and the sliding glass door on the inside. This means that water gets trapped in between the glass in the overlapping part. I thought it would be the other way around so that the stationary glass was on the inside nearest the shower head. Anyways, the product was installed by my contractor and they didn’t complain about it. It’s good quality stuff. I bought a rice paper design privacy film to add across the mid section of the glass when I get around to it.
Classy, solid door with some install challenges
This the second of these doors I have installed. They are perfect. Solid. Rich looking. Quality. Instructions are good. However, they are very awkward. Definitely requires two people to do it right. Your measurements must be exact. There is not much room for error. Two things that would make this much easier is if there were an exact template of the stationary door (size, hole location, thickness) included with the kit. Press board, fiberboard, thick smooth cardboard. It would be much easier to take measurements and test fit. Also if the two floor pieces were two-piece with one half screwed to the floor and then the other half snapped or screwed in after glass placement. It is hard for two people working in a cramped space with a heavy door and attached rod to lift it up and set it in the channel of the two floor guides. Just a couple things that would make the project much, much easier for all involved. It is a great door and looks very classy. The install could be made much easier.
Beautiful Shower Door
I bought this for an overall bathroom remodel. I wanted something modern, stylish and as frameless as possible. It also had to accommodate a pretty small opening to the shower, due to the location of the toilet. I really couldn't use a swinging door of any type.
