Tall and handsome
I bought two planters of this size to add height to my Corten steel planter assemblage. They add the necessary height for balance.
Why wingnuts?!
If you are going to fasten pieces together with a screw and wing it, maybe consider how nearly impossible it is when there is no clearance for fingers to rotate with the screw or the wingnut! This mundane task is so much harder than it needs to be. What a frustrating chore putting this together is.
A pain to assemble, but attractive!
As the review states, these planters are miserable to put together with the bolts, wing nuts, and tight spaces. However, once they're together, they look great. We opted to "force" weather them using the manufacturer instructions rather than let them rust naturally. It took about 10 coats and a couple hours, but I am really pleased with the results. Now to add plants!
Ehhh....
Let me start off by saying, you aren't getting the wrong planters. You're getting pre-weathered corten steel planters. They will weather over time to look like the photos, which, in some listings is a little bit of false advertisement because some don't note that. This listing at list gives a diagram of before/after. The assembly on almost $* planters is atrocious. Each side has 2 45 degree angles so the sides butt up nicely. However, they provide bolts and wing-nuts to connect all the sides... Three holes per side, you're doing this 12 times. The wing nuts just barely fit in the angle created, and when they inevitably fall, once you get the last side started you have to reach your entire body into the planter to get the loose bolts/nuts out because there are lips on either end that will inevitably catch them. This was somehow more frustrating to put two planters together than it is building ** furniture. If you have big hands forget it. Not to mention, when you're done your hands and wrists will be completely black because the oiled metal inside rubs off. Now that they're together, they look nice, and I'm hoping they weather nicely to match our landscape edging (that came pre-weathered).
Beautiful planter. It arrived early and flat packed. Took about twenty mins to put together. All real steal has been slowly turning to the rust color.

Classy edition in front of my house.
I put this planter in front of my house before I put it on the market. Everyone who came to the house commented on how fantastic the planters looked.
The product was damaged. Total four pieces of metal panels. Two with connection holes (3 on each end) and two with welded screw nods (3 on each end). So you can connect them by inserting the screws into the holes. The product that I received, all 3 screws were fell off on one side of the panel. I have reported the situation to Houzz and waiting for their response. . The seller sent me a replacement panel. I am good now. Thanks.
I love this planter as Im a rustic farmhouse style....
I love this planter as Im a rustic farmhouse style. It took me a full weekend to rust 2 of these. Systematic consistent spraying from an inexpensive spray bottle. Just be sure to place them on a big piece of cardboard to absorb the rust run off and place a blue tarp under that cardboard to be extra clean. Don't be lazy and it'll reward you with a great natural look. The styrofoam inserts for the top portion (I added more on the bottom sidrs) are a great feature to keep roots cool since I live in hot sun in AZ. Love the look after investing the weekend of rusting spraying.
Wow! It’s Black not Rust.
The last product I bought from this vendor was perfect. This one is black and maybe it will turn rust… when? Who knows.
5 Stars
These outdoor planters are wonderful! Very well made, sturdy so they won't blow over. Cam in raw steel and will rust overtime.
Death by 1,000 Cuts
the planter looks like good once you get it together. The assembly, however, is ridiculous. Screw and wingnuts on the 45 in a cylinder. Think about that for a second. And, the wingnuts are just. barely. able to fit without hitting the sides. Then you have to tighten them with an allen wrench. I got the shorter one together and admit that I gave up on the taller one--the struggle was real and it wasn't worth. Save yourself a headache and buy them assembled.
Arrived 3 days ago - ALREADY AMAZING!
This is satisfying even after only 3 days and having used the spray mixture recommended on their site once (peroxide, salt, vinegar). These are already exactly what we wanted. The steel used will rust on the surface but not rust through - another plus I hadn’t expected. Worth every penny for an updated, sculptural look to the rock garden. Why wait to post a review when it’s only going to get better from here and I thought this might be helpful or at least interesting for someone out there
Love these,Ignore bad reviews, read why
Some people reviewed these wrong. They all come grey, in their natural steel state and rust (orange) over time. I spread up the trusting process, in 3 days time, see pics. Many videos online. I planted my faux agaves (bought in Overstock) and LOVE everything about this. Buying two more pots.
We wanted something durable and easy to assemble to use for our vegetable garden. The boxes were fast and easy to put together and will last much longer than the wood boxes that we planned to build and we like that we can move these boxes in the future if needed. We ordered 6 planters and had an issue with one out of the six and houzz was very easy to work with and fast to correct the problem.
Shipped not rusted steel
This planter is well built, but the big problem is they don't ship with a rusted finish. The rusted finish happens over a period of time and can be accelerated by using vinegar, lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide or copper sulfate. All of this is available on YouTube. But, it was quite a shock to open the package and have it be raw steel.
Great value, modern amazing look
This is my 7th purchase of corten steel planters. They are strong, look gorgeous and hold up well to elements. I let mine age naturally (don't like the splotch or streaky look some get when spraying them to advance rust). I see people that leave negative feedback but they don't read the info on these before they buy. These are raw steel when arriving and rust over a few months meaning don't keep them on concrete or something you don't want rusted. Artisans in Austin texas will make these and other amazing walls and planters but expect the price to be about 3-4 times this one. There are amazing wall screens you can also get in corten steel from this manufacturer.
Sturdy Nice Looking Metal Planter
Very sturdy and well made planter. It is heavy and needs two people to move it. Needed to put rocks in the bottom so it wouldn't tip over in high winds. Wanted it to be "rusty" right away so tried the suggested method with peroxide, vinegar, and salt and it was rusty in just a few applications over the course of one day. Looks great and should last forever. Pricy, but worth it.
Statement Piece
This is my 4th Corten Steel planter in 3 years. They stand up to Michigan winters. Very little rust run off and are heavy enough to large planters. Best investment for long term use and timeless.
Don't be mislead
I was not a smart shopper. However! When you see this picture and it's exactly the color you are looking for you click order. This comes as a raw gray steel planter that will "rust" over time. You need to put it where this rust does not run off onto surfaces that you don't want ruined. It's extremely heavy which prohibits me from moving independently into place. Rather several places until the run off is finished. At $ return cost, I am stock with this monstrosity of steel. Really disappointed with myself and with the advertising of this product.
