Emile Henry Pizza Stone
I would love to review the Emile Henry Pizza Stone but I never got to use it. It arrived broken and to King Arthur’s credit it was replaced 3 different times however they were all broken. It’s either a packing issue or the clay itself has been fired improperly who knows maybe there’s a whole bunch that have an hairline crack before they ship out. Apparently I’m not supposed to have a pizza stone right now. 5 stars for King Arthur for doing everything they could.
Broken pizza stone - 3x
I love King Arthur products and the fact that they are an employee owned company. Unfortunately, their shipping area did not come through for me on this purchase. I bought this lovely pizza stone and it arrived broken; like really broken into hundreds of pieces. I called customer service and they were great. They sent another one overnight. The second stone arrived broken. It was wrapped in a small piece of bubble wrap - nothing else. I called customer service again. They assured me they’d delivered this product successfully in the past. They sent a third. Broken. Again. I finally asked for my money back. Customer service was great. They apologized but there is definitely a disconnect between CS and shipping.
Very poor packing
The actual pizza stone is fantastic. Unfortunately it is extremely poorly packed by the Emile Henry company. I do not not fault King Arthur at all. The packing issue came from the Emile Henry company. The first one I ordered came in two pieces. There was absolutely no type of packing material around it in the original box. King Arthur replaced it promptly and the second one arrived in three pieces. Again, no packing materials in the original box. I then cancelled my order.
Fantastic pizza cooking stone. I have been using one for 15 years but unfortunately dropped and broke that one. I am delighted I could get a replacement from your store. It has already been used for two pizza nights.
Who needs a wood burning stove?
This pizza stone very closely mimics a wood burning stove, crust is slightly charred on the bottom, good rise on the outside and the toppings brown nicely, easy to use and clean, great size, excellent product and very reasonably priced for the results it gives
Pizza stone vs pizza steel
Love my new pizza stone. I also use a pizza steel to cook pizza and it works well but is so heavy! Don’t get me wrong, the EH pizza stone is also heavy but much more manageable for me. With the ceramic coating on it, vs just steel, it cleaned up nicely too. If you make pizza at home, and you should because its not hard and fun to experiment with toppings, you’ll have much more success with getting the crust like restaurant pizza if you use the EH pizza stone. I also liked the two side handles, unlike the flat pizza steel, they make it easier to remove the stone from your oven (although I use a pizza peel to take the pizzas in and out of the hot oven and wait until morning to take the cool stone out). Good quality, nice color, will be using for years to come.
Worth it!
I have wanted this stone for some time and am so happy I finally bought it. It is 100% worth it. I’ve used it several times now and love it. The size worried me at first, I didn’t think I need one so big, but I was wrong on that part. I love the size and how much I can do with it.
More color choices please
I really like this. It arrived quickly and in one piece (I was a little worried given other folks reports of theirs breaking in shipping). I’ve used it to bake frozen pizzas and bread and it’s worked well. I just wish it came in different colors as the red clashes horribly with my green/teal kitchen & dishes. I solved that problem by storing it in my oven.
Emile Henry Pizza Stone is worth it
I have had the 18x14 Emile Henry Pizza stone for a bit over 6 months now and can say it is a very good product worth the price. I have had mine for a bit over 6 months and 50+ pizzas. Though there is a bit of a learning curve if you are jew to pizza stones and or using a pizza piel but when it clicks for your style za the end product is amazing. Perfect crust every time. For bigger pizza's that lake up the whole stone I have found that forming the dough to size and rolling it onto a rolling pin and then unrolling onto a preheated stone is much easier then cleaning topping out of the over trying to use a peal.
I bought these for my
I bought these for my DIL and she LOVES them! However, they don’t fit in her oven as she is currently living in the UK. But she wants to keep them for when they move back. She said she has them out in her kitchen just to look at them and touch them. They packaged these for shipping so well that nothing happened to the stones going all that way. Thank you King Arthur!
Emile Henri pizza stone is a hit!
The Emile Henry pizza stone is a hit. The glaze surface keeps the stone from absorbing oils from the cheese or pizza ingredients. I have had other pizza stones that were porous and the combination of the stone, oil and high heat would create smoking and burned spots. This stone, with the glazed surface, is washable and you can clean it if cheese or food gets on it, reducing the risks of smoking and scorching. It makes great pizza with an even, browned, crispy crust. I have made both thick and thin crust pizzas on it and both turn out great.
Living up to The Description!
The stone heats rapidly, is beautiful, and much to my delight, does clean as easily as advertised.
So beautiful and multi functional
The substantial size of this allows for the baking of two small round or one large rectangle pizza. A plus when entertaining. I love that it can also be used for charcuterie or as an elegant way to serve an assortment of foods. And it’s in my favorite color!
Beautiful and Versatile
I bought this pizza stone with a gift certificate. Although the first one arrived broken, KAF graciously and quickly rectified their packaging error and sent a new item, which was packed safely and arrived in good condition. I've only used the stone once, to make focaccia, and it was perfect. I appreciate that this stone is large enough to accommodate long baked goods. It's pretty enough that it could be on display.
Emile Henry Pizza Stone
I LOVE it! After making several pizzas (trying different recipes and methods) I came up with the absolute perfect pizza. As good as any I have ever bought and better than most. My husband and grandchildren all voted and agreed! I also plan on using it as a charcuterie board this Christmas (because it is so beautiful)! Haven’t tried cookies on it yet, but I will. Definitely a “keeper”.
I purchased this stone because
I purchased this stone because it was ceramic coated and would not discolour However, when i cooked a pizza on parchment on it and took it off the stone, a little of the grease/oil from the cheese and or the tomato sauce spilled onto the stone. I could not wash it off immediately because the stone was very hot. When it dried I washed the stone in soap and water and yet the spot of the spill remained. I am not happy.
EH baking stone
Excellent choice. I find myself using it for more than bread baking.
The stone itself performs very
The stone itself performs very well. I was concerned as it is glazed, and I'm used to unglazed baking stones. Bread has a good crisp crust as do pizzas. The first stone arrived with a broken handle/edge, but when contacted, customer service asked several questions about the packaging, and I made suggestions. They listened and sent another that arrived safe and sound. I don't mind problems (they're bound to happen) as long as they're dealt with in a prompt common sense way.
The pizza stone is great
The pizza stone is great for baking crisp-crusted pizzas and breads. I've baked cookies on it too. It is non-porous and easy to clean! I "store" it on my countertop rather than in my oven . I don't slice, chop or cut foods on it, but I do use it as my designated "clean surface" for bringing eggs or butter to room temperature and setting aside measured or prepared ingredients I will be using in a recipe. I've also refrigerated it and used it as a chilled serving tray for sliced veggies, cheeses and cold meats. Versatile and beautiful, too!
I’ve used other stones in
I’ve used other stones in the past which never worked out. After reading the reviews on KAF I decided to purchase it. I’m so glad I did. By far this is the best baking stone I’ve ever used. Pizza comes out with crispy bottoms. I love the size of it, that it’s almost as wide as my oven. The look of the red enamel is very appealing and it provides a non stick surface. I highly recommend this to anyone who makes pizza or bread at home.
