Screws to nowhere

Don't buy unless you know how to MacGyver the seat onto the frame! I purchased the Madrid Espresso chairs. The instructions were okay until the last step - the seat pad assembly. It said to screw the seat pad on with the 4 screws included. As my photo illustrates, the screws don't screw into anything. I've put together many pieces of furniture, so this isn't my first rodeo. There are no pilot holes on the seat. Well, there's one....in the middle of the seat....and it attaches to...???

These chairs are very well made and easy to put together. They look good in my dining room. Im very pleased. I bought 4 chairs which come 2 per box. Well packed. No scratches or dents in wood. I do recommend them.

Packed well with lots of cushioning so. I thing was scratch. Easy to put together.

I am very happy with this product! I purchased two sets of chairs to go with a 36 inch table that I also purchased on Hayneedle.com. The frames of the chairs were very easy to assemble. I did most of it by myself. I was a little surprised that the very last step was to use wood screws to screw the seats to the frame. That was definitely not a one person job. There were no pre-drilled holes and I am not THAT handy. I couldn't even get the screw to go into the wood by myself. My son came over and helped me center the seat part on the chair and he easily screwed the screws in from the bottom, while I held the seat portion and kept it centered. That was the only little hiccup in the assembly process. I'm not sure why they didn't use Allen bolts to secure the seats from the bottom like they did with the rest of the parts to the chairs, but it was easy enough to remedy with an extra set of hands and a little muscle. All in all, the chairs went together well and are very sturdy. I am really very happy with my purchase of these chairs.

The chair was just a little a bit smaller...

The chair was just a little a bit smaller than I expected, but that was my fault or not checking the dimensions. Otherwise it was a nce product and easy to assemble. The problem was that there were no screw holes in the seat, so it could not be attached. If I had a drill, I could probably rectify that. My local Home Depot was kind enough to allow me to return it to the store rather than through the mail. (It was a very heavy box)

Perfect match

I bought 2 sets of chairs to go with a table I already had. The chairs match perfectly and no one would ever know they didn't come with it. I absolutely love them. They are pretty comfortable, too. Assembly wasn't difficult- just a bit time consuming.

The only difficulty was lining up the seat to attach it on the chair. Guides would have helped. I turned the chair over and drew lines on the underside and that helped.

We love these chairs!

We were looking for elegant chairs with style and clean lines to use with a hardwood writing desk (also on this website) and were happy to find these. They look great and were VERY easy to assemble. The chairs look classy and have nice wide comfortable seats. They are also rock solid. We are happy we found them and have nothing negative to say. Our original idea was to use this table and just one chair in a guest room, but decided to use it on the porch with a large tournament size chess set... because it looks so nice:)
