I bought the self-watering 26” diameter pot with drainage to transplant a 4’wide fern. The drainage spout is faulty and does not seal, draining water onto the floor. This also negates the ability of the pot to maintain a reservoir for self-watering. Returning pot to store is difficult as it takes two adults to handle the pot, removing the fern after its recent transplanting will likely induce transplant shock, it’s incredibly messy, driving it back to the store, etc. Customer service offered an absurd solution which I would not accept. Situation is unresolved. Deeply disappointed with product and lack of customer support.

Poorly designed - don't buy

Do not purchase their planters. I purchased 2 "self-watering" outdoor planters. The plug on the bottom is not cut through and cannot be removed to disloge to remove excess water. I first emailed Algreen with photos. Didn't hear back from them. So I called. I was told to tip the planter over - which is full with plants - to drain the water from the top. Ridiculous. There is also a small overflow hole about 10 inches up from the bottom on the side of the planter. Again, this involves tipping a planter full of plants on its side.

good idea

purchased the largest of these planters and used a bag of mulch to fill the bottom so I didn't need to fill with oodles of potting soil. Once the mulch was in I filled with 28L bag of Miracle Gro Moisture potting soil. Because of where the planter is located it would be difficult to water daily so I love the self-watering aspect. Just fill with water and it should last a few days. We will see

Not got if you have cold winters because the water that stays in the self watering section will freeze and crack the pot.
