Well made, easy to use, works quickly to de-ice or just keep the water from freezing. Handy to fit in a variety of containers, tanks or buckets.

Works, but way beyond just "keeping ice off"

Product states it only turns on near freezing and cuts off automatically. It specifies it's not a "heater" and will only "de-ice" so one would assume it probably cuts off by 40F or so, but there is no info anywhere about a shut off temp. My 25 gallon water barrel was 32F with thick ice around the edges when I put the de-icer in overnight. By morning, it was 66F. For a product that advertises it only warms enough to keep ice off, 66F was surprisingly high.

Very happy with this de-icer. Needed something to keep a 5-gallon metal tub unfrozen for my ducks and this de-icer worked perfectly. My ducks were very happy to have access to open water to drink and clean their beaks during a vicious cold streak when everything was frozen over.

Really like this heater. Very simple, easy to hide under a flat rock. I use 'em in shallow mini-duck ponds under a piece of flagstone & no ducks get burned or entangled like on other heaters or on "floater" heaters. It is the only trough heater that has stood up to my Yard Hog's "playing" with her 15 gal. washtub water trough! At a couple hundred pounds, she has easily torn apart all the other heaters I had- just pulled the cords right out of them- but not this one!!! Works for my Goats/Turkeys- all my small livestock paddock tanks have these! Great product!

Excellent De-Icer

This is a sturdy, reliable piece of equipment for any bird or livestock water. It replaced a junky no-name de-icer that couldn’t keep water ice free even at 25°F. This one works down to zero F with no ice at all.

These are a great idea and work well but they don't seem to last more than a couple of months in really frigid weather. It kind of depends on how protected they are as to how long they last . I have 2 in my waterfowl house and they are both covered but still in the coop and I've replaced the one that gets the most wind and weather twice already this winter. The other in the middle is still going strong.
