I like the table but when I stained it there...

I like the table but when I stained it there are several spots that won’t take the stain. Looks like excess glue-not really sure. Im going to sand and restain to see if that takes care of the problem. The spots are on the edge of table-very noticeable.

I stained this table a weathered gray and it turned out AMAZING!! I wish Home Depot carried unfinished furniture in store because shipping was the only con... it took about 2 weeks to get to California from the East coast but it was worth the wait! The wood was sanded beautifully and I didn’t have to do any prep work. I also like that you can buy the table already finished, too. This table fit perfectly in our breakfast nook area in our kitchen. I get so many compliments!

ok but all parts not level

I couldn't use one of the four screws to attach the table top to the base: the screw was too short since the top didn't fit flat. I used a level & the base was level, so the top must have been the culprit. I went to the hardware store & bought a screw 1/4" longer...which, unfortunately, went about 1/8" through the table top. So I unscrewed it 1/8" then spackled; as planned, I used a light white stain then sealed. Not great but good enough.

The table is sturdy, but the butcher block top did not take stain well. There were several streak marks inherent in the wood. Ended up painting the table instead.

We bought this 36" pedestal table for our kitchen. It was a perfect size and appeared to be nicely constructed. What was not evident in the photo was that the top had a butcher block appearance with many small pieces of wood fitted together. This is not a problem if you are planning to paint the table a solid color but since we intended to stain it, we wanted to have a table top with long, straight boards from end to end. Unfortunately, this was returned and our search continues.

This is a solid and well built table. Only 3 stars because when I applied stain there were lines that would not accept the stain. Not sure why but the lines look like scratches now that it is finished. I sanded and reapplied but they are still there. I will contact Hayneedle regarding this.
