Poor Design
Stay away from this surround, it's a poor design. The end walls are thin and lay flat against the studs. The problem that caused is that a standard Delta spout doesn't come out far enough, the water falls on the overflow. The valve also needs to be mounted on the back of the framed 2x4 walls for the trim kit to work properly. I didn't catch that until the sheetrock was done and I was installing the trim kit. That ruined a good day.
I've been replacing tub and shower enclosures for years and this is the absolute best product that i have used. The enclosure is high quality and just a gorgeous product, its a bit more involved to install but well worth the extra effort, if you're looking for a beautiful bathroom solution that will last you cant go wrong with this product.?
Great product
We love the quality of the Flexstone product. It is thicker than other surrounds and worth the price. I love the choices of color and it looks great install. This is the fourth one we have purchased and my husband says these are the best shower/tub surrounds of all.
Not for a beginner.
I've been doing renovations for years and this was a challenge. More tedious than anything. Don't use plumber's putty or silicone on acrylic. I called Delta and they said to use DAP AMP Kitchen and Bath or Loctite Perfect Finish only. Don't tighten screws or drains too much or the acrylic will crack. Looks nice. I am doubtful about the caulkless construction not getting soap and mold trapped in the joints but time will tell. Does not have the sold feel of a one piece.
LOVE,LOVE,LOVE IT!
I added a shower to my bathtub and needed a surround. I saw this one and decided to give it a try. The Frost option is beautiful! I had an issue with my original back panel, it was damaged when I got it, but the company sent me another one within two weeks, with no problem! Cutting was easy with a jig saw, and they give you plenty of adhesive and silicone for your project. Just take your time scribing and cutting and the rest is fairly easy! I did buy another shelve to have some more storage. If you need some inspiration watch some YouTube videos!
I hired a contractor to redo my bathroom. He recommended it as it is easy to work with and waterproof. It really looks great in the bathroom, I am very pleased with it.
One year in ….
My husband, who is employed in a trade, was able to install this without too much trouble. The walls in our house are not square so that gave him some challenges and required some trimming of the pieces in order to get them to look perfectly straight. Panel is easy to keep clean, much lower maintenance than tile, which is what we were going for and the color still looks just as it did when we installed, so no yellowing yet.
We like the design and look. Plenty of shelf space without making you feel like your cramped. Didn't realize the side where the faucets mount is set back. Paired this with a Delta tub/shower faucet set and Kohler soaker tub that has a tapered slant. As a result the tub water flows directly onto the overflow drain!! Something we hadn't anticipated. Now looking for a longer tub spout to reach out past the drain. Recommend, just think about how everything will work together.
great tub surround
I went through a few different tub surrounds trying to find the right fit, and this one did the trick. We didnt want to replace out 1965 tub, so we had it professionally refinished, then was able to install this ontop. We werent sure if it woukd work with an older tub, but it worked out great. Super happy with it. I would recomend gluing the walls to the studs, makes it a lot more sturdy feeling.
Most pieces looked like they were cut with an ax. Whatever type saw the manufacturer used to cut the panels left gouges in the sides and some were cut with a chamfer. Fortunately I was able to square the panels up when doing the install. Two pieces were chipped when I picked the box up at Home Depot but again I solved the vendor's problem by inverting the panels to put the chip at the top where it is covered by the trim pieces. Do not buy this kit unless you are sure you will be able to cut the panels smaller to cover up cutting defects!
This was exactly what we needed. It's flexible, but durable, and a way more affordable option for a shower surround than hiring it out. It was easy to measure and cut custom pieces, and it looks absolutely beautiful! Like a professional did it. The only critique I have is that I wish the kit would have come with one additional tube of adhesive instead of so many sealants. Otherwise, loved it.
Very easy to install and really like how the edges lock together.. Love that the shelving is very useful unlike some Ive used where stuff just rolls off.. slightly bulky shelving but still looks pretty with some good silicone
Not Perfect, not the correct caulk included
It was supposed to come with 2 tubes of color match caulk. I got the two tubes, marked as "white" but both contained clear silicon caulk. Not then, clear matches everything, clear matches nothing. I ended up at the hardware store buying two tubes of almond caulk - which is the perfect match. $20 out-of-pocket for something that was supposed to be included.
I love the shelving in this unit. I had this in my shower. But when I purchased the tub to go with it, my contractor advised I take it back and get something of better quality. So I returned it and chose a Sterling brand.
Color and pattern are off
I chose this color and pattern, expecting it to match with any wall and bathtub colors. Very disappointed after it was put on to find the gray pattern is more noticeable than shown on the photo and color is a cool tone grey not white.
Looks great, fairly easy to put up and seal. 4 stars since they chose to package the corner waterproofing tape in with the finishing pieces instead of the walls. Wound up not going in my build since we didn't find it until after the walls were glued in place.
was impressed with the fifth
did the whole Delta tub end surround. this was literally a snap to put together and it went very very smoothly. has been in for about 2 weeks without leaks. did not use the caulking. there is a foam adhesive tape that you put around.
Tub insert
Easy to put in. Love the shelves/pockets. Great for putting soaps and shampoos. Easy to clean No issues with staining. Using it frequently for about 9 months. No issues to date. Good product.
misses the mark
First: don't try to have it shipped to you. I tried twice and both times it was lost/damaged. Get it from the store.Pros:Probably the best set up of a tub surround (imo) of the ones out there. good shelf placement, direct to stud install.Cons:Delta misses a great opportunity to sell more of them by making it exclusive to their own tub design. If they would make this a universal design for any tub, they would sell a lot more.So disappointing that it's designed for only their tub, it's a good price point and great design but short sighted on the limited use.
Thin plastic. Not worth the price
Looks nice, but its flimsy material
