I was so excited to find this companion dog for my mom who suffers from dementia. I am so disappointed. I put in the batteries and as the dog "interacted", I could hear the motor. This is not calming and comforting. It's also not realistic looking at all.

This Joy for All" companion pup is an excellent choice, especially for anyone who is in need of a companion but cannot have a pet due to living restrictions or care and cost issues. While he does not walk, he can sit or lie down, and he does respond to talking and petting with fairly realistic pup movements and sounds. He can be turned off and on with barking sounds and head, eye and mouth movements or muted so he still moves but without sound. Like a real puppy, he responds to voice and touch, and he will "fall asleep" with calm breathing sounds when inactive for a period. He is somewhat larger than I expected, like a medium to large breed puppy, and he is very loveable.

Great companion for my elderly mother who has memory loss. The puppy is adorable and cuddly and his movements and sounds are so lifelike. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for comfort.

Excellent companion for an older person with dementia. This is the second robotic dog I have purchased for friends with memory issues, and they have both been successful. It was a little bigger and heavier than I expected, and you have to remember to turn it off, so the batteries don't wear out.
