Friedrich-Lover

This was a present for my son. His window slides open from side to side. He loves the power. Excellent that the Friedrich cools quickly. You do not have to empty ant water on the dual hose unit. He used duct tape to fill any tiny air holes along the edges and around the tubes. Excellent purchase.

huge disappointment

Bought this to use in place of a window a/c because I'm tired of having to remove and reinstall the window a/c every season. The tubes and window kit are flimsy and the tubes have a lot of air leaks where they connect to the a/c and window kit and are barely adequate. The window a/c I was using is a 12,000 btu. This is supposed to be close to 14,000, so it uses more power than my window a/c. The huge disappointment is that it's about half as effective at cooling the same space. I thought there was something wrong with it, so I called Friedrich. They told me I should never expect these to work as well as a window a/c and that it's performing as it should. I wasn't able to return it, so now I'm stuck with it. It's really heavy and hard to move also. The tubes put out a ton of radiant heat, so I put a blanket over those--that probably helped a little, but not much. This thing just doesn't work well and it's pathetic--a big waste of money.

The Sylvane customer service agent was very helpful during my selection process providing excellent advice with a good recommendation based upon my cooling requirements. When I received my unit the unboxing and set up process was very easy. The AC unit works well and I'm very happy with the performance, low noise and modern aesthetics. the AC unit blends into my room without announcing that it is an air conditioner.
