Hard to install

My wife and I were very excited to receive this fixture to complete the updating of our bathroom. While the Installation Instructions were not easy to follow (only side angle schematics), we did figure it our. The base was super easy to install, and the chrome face plate was as well. The problem is the shades are held in place by a locknut. While this gives a very clean appearance (new screws holding the shade in place) they are almost impossible to install. I couldn't install them because my hands are to big. My dainty wife struggled and this one part of the installation took over an hour. Maybe in China, where these are made, their hands can easily install these locknuts, but where they are being sold here in the US they are really hard. We were within a couple minutes of returning the fixture. Suggestion, design and include a plastic locknut installation "wrench". Probably wouldn't cost more than a couple cents.

Tricky to hang

My husband and I bought this for a DIY replacement project. It fit perfectly to cover the hole that the old one left. There was only one problem. It's light and easy to hang without the glass globes attached. However, attaching the bulb covers after it is hung is very difficult. In fact, my husband screwed one in slightly crooked and it wouldn't screw all the way in and it wouldn't come out. We ended up breaking the ceramic piece that we were screwing it into and buying to a second fixture. Bottom line: if you have a strong person to pick it up once it's fully assembled, it's a fine fixture to buy.

Looks great!

It looks great in our diy remodeled bathroom. We didn't want to spend too much on updating the bathroom in our condo/second home. So I needed a fixture that had a large wall plate to cover the hole from the one we were replacing. And we wanted LED lights. This was perfect. Brushed nickel matched all of the other fixtures. The shape of the lights complement the new oval sinks. It was all good.

Very nice look, however, do question the life as very little plating on the surface. I have seen reviews where this is an issue, especially in a bathroom, where this is located. Time will tell! Fairly easy to mount, although I thought the supplied wall fasteners were overkill, requiring a 5/8 drilled hole. I purchased fasteners that required a smaller hole and mounted the fixture with no issues.

The answer to a low light situation.

I had an old pair of fixtures in this bathroom and the lighting just was not good enough. I installed this 5 light fixture and put 5 60 watt equivalent LED bulbs in it and I now have all the light I need to light up this bathroom. It no longer has any dark spots in the room. It also looks very nice above the mirror. This fixture was simple to install, just the standard three wire hook up.

PROS: Well packaged. Nice contemporary design. Easy to install. Fixture works as expected. CONS: The metal is low quality and care needs to be taken so it doesn't become dented or scratched. After installation we discovered the noted areas of color defect (which seem to be worsening 3-months post-purchase), but we didn't want to wait for the item to be restocked for replacement. Fortunately, they're only visible if you're standing directly beneath the fixture. At least two of the shades don't fit securely. OVERALL: It's a good vanity light, but the price really should be below $99.

Love this fixture

We are delighted with this vanity light! Very well made, with thick glass covers for the bulbs. Very sleek and rich looking, not cheaply made, and up to date. Goes well in a unisex bathroom. The etched silver is subtle. Easy easy to install. It really goes well with the etched silver framed and beveled glass mirrors we purchased to go this the light.

Good: Item is an attractive light fixture with clean modern lines at a moderate price. Bad: the glass shades are virtually impossible to put on. I though that they would screw in, but they have a separate plastic insert which rests inside the glass and screws in. The glass shades are so narrow at the base, where the insert screws on to the metal, that it is EXTREMELY difficult to get them screwed down. I'm a woman with small hands and I had an almost impossible time. No man could ever do it. On top of that, the inserts mis-thread easily and then get stuck, so they won't go on or come off. I struggled several times to extricate mis-threaded pieces. I finally hit on the idea of using BBQ tongs to reach in and grasp the edges and dislodge them. You definitely have to put on the shades BEFORE you mount the light. There in no way in the world that I am ever going to take them off, for example to clean them, and try to put them back on.

Installed easily. Decent quality for price. Looks very nice. I installed the lamps upward (You can downward also) to avoid any possible bulb glare. The light bounces off the ceiling and walls and creates nice even lighting. Able to handle 5 100 watt bulbs so you can have plenty of light if needed. You have a choice of how many lights, in different lengths, you want in this style which was helpful in choosing just the right length to fit and cover up some flaws on the wall.

Fixture came in perfect condition and exactly what we expected. Looks exactly like the picture and very nice looking when completely installed. Only issue we had was mounting the fixture and THEN trying to install the globes. Mine or my husband hand barely fit in the domes to attach to each stem. On the 3 light fixture, we mounted the domes on fixture BEFORE mounting. Much easier!

Vanity light looks great but

Fixture looks great; however, during the installation I started to get concerned about the quality. Two things are of concern. 1. The threads on the socket have chips on them. 2. The socket rings that you use to install the shades to the sockets are loose. These two issues made it difficult to install the shades to the fixture and when the rings got stuck because of the loose rings and chips in the socket threads I was really concerned that something would break. Issue going forward is the ability to take the shades off for whatever reason.

We are doing a bathroom remodel and ordered this light for the room. It does look great in the room but we ran into problems getting one that was useable. The first one we received had a piece of the chrome flaked off. The one we ordered to replace it had multiple pits in the chrome and that is not something you want on a light fixture in a bathroom. Finally the third one we ordered came in and looks flawless. We were able to return the second one without a problem and will return the first one as soon as the electrician installs the third one.

Nice clean look

I bought this about a month ago, and we really like the look. We decided to hang it with the lights pointing down. The light was pretty easy to install, but with energy efficient bulbs it make it a challenge to get your fingers in between the bulb and the glass cover to tighten everything together. I would recommend 40W bulbs or LED equivalents to that. I bought 60W equivalents, and it is really bright.

I found if I turned the ring and my hand I could get it done. I installed the fixtures in the down position. I did have to make some extra holes in the metal backing as the existing holes did not line up with my studs

Don't buy these lights!!!! Any of them they come in many different varieties. Progress lights suck, they will not stand behind their warranty. I have a fixture with 5 globes and one with 6 globes. My fixture with 5 globes have turned color, the shades are yellow and they are only 5 months old!!! Used the required bulbs A19 and they turned. Called progress lighting and they said they would not replace the globe shades because they have never had this happen before. A company that won't stand behind their product has no business being in business. Customer service sucks. I spent over $300 for two fixtures and they won't replace my globes. I will see if homedepot will help me.

Great improvement

We ordered this light online and picked it up at the store. This fixture replaced the globe lights on our 80's medicine cabinet., so anything would have been an improvement! First of all, I was impressed with the secure packaging. The glass was wrapped in bubble wrap and enclosed in styrofoam. My husband installed it, and it seemed to be easy. I chose to have it mounted with the lights facing down so it would not collect dust inside the glass. It will also be easier to change the light bulbs that way, but I ended up putting LEDs in it, so I shouldn't have to do much changing. It looks great with the new mirrored cabinet we ordered at the same time.

An Excellent Replacement Fixture to Make House Look Timely

I decided to upgrade the 15 years old bathroom light fixture with the Progress Lighting P2714 and P2708 light fixtures. Fixtures looked great and timely. Installation of glass shade had one glitch. Shade are narrow and difficult to install shade nut without Retainer Nut Wrench.

Great value

This is a great light fixture for above the mirror in a bath - provides ample and even lighting. I was concerned that this unit might be lightweight or "entry level" quality - to the contrary the metaland glass is of quality, durable, finish and construction.

Simple, elegant lines are perfect for my upgrade!

Just purchased this light for all three of our bathrooms in an attempt to upgrade from the cheap Hollywood lights that come standard in most homes, and I absolutely love the way these lights look. They are stunning once up, especially if you prefer very clean lines and simplicity like I do. You truly can't find a better light for this price.
