These "tiles" are peel and stick. Although the adhesive on the back is up to the task, for best results it's imperative to have a clean smooth surface before applying. Layout your space using a level and pencil line. It's best to go from left to right when applying the pieces. There are about 8 different tile patterns, lettered A-H, so make sure to either randomize or use the same ones L-R & Top-Bottom.

I've only recently installed these in my vintage motorhome so I've no way to rate durability. My review then is based solely on ease of installation. And these are fairly easy to install! I used a steel straight edge and a piece of scrap plywood for trimming to the size I needed. The sheets are tacky on the back so by lightly adhering them to the wall (follow the wall prep instructions carefully, too), one can place and move the sheet a couple of times until it's located where you want it. When you are satisfied, press all over the sheet to assure complete adhesion - I used a microfiber cloth and "elbow grease" and that seemed to be sufficient. Because these aren't recommended for areas where moisture could get under them, I'm putting a thin bead of clear caulking along the bottom edge.

These tiles are beautiful and add a high end elegance to the space. These are very easy to install. You get 4 interlocking sheets of the smart tiles that you can assemble in any pattern. You can cut them to fit the space you are installing them. The best part is, if you have to cut them, you don't need a wet saw to do it. You just need a cutting mat and a box cutter (I guess scissors would work, too) to cut them to the shape and size you need. Assembly is so easy. you just peel off the back of the tile sheet and stick them to the wall where you want them. This is a great looking backsplash with timeless elegance. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants to add a high-end pop to your space in only a few minutes of work.

First off, have the say, the "Smart Tiles" are not as smart as I had hoped. When you open the package, the tiles themselves are very thin and are all cut the same. This means, when you go to apply them, you must "overlap" the keyed tiles with the squared off end of the next tile. This makes installation EXTREMELY challenging.

Smart Tiles has created this useful product for the do-it-yourself homeowner who would like an attractive backsplash without the expense and expertise needed to install real grouted tile. The package contains 4 sheets of self-adhesive wall tiles which can be cut with an exacto knife and metal square to fit your space. The sections can be overlapped, creating the illusion of an unbroken tile backsplash. The colors of the printed tiles are dark/medium/light taupe and white. I suggest that you measure your space and then line up your tiles to be sure the overlap is correct. They can be repositioned if you do not press them firmly into place but they must be carefully handled or they can rip, exposing a shiny metallic foil. The adhesive is strong once pressed into place so these should hold up well. I would prefer a matte finish but they are fine for those wanting a little shine. I think these tiles present best in a smaller area. While not a perfect substitute for grouted tile, they are certainly a less expensive attractive alternative.

The wall over our kitchen counters, backplate or backsplash, has green vinyl or rubber tiles; which are very dark. These smart tiles (Crescendo Ciotta, Taupe, Peel and Stick) are much brighter and shinier. Where our other tiles are dark and dull, absorbing light; these Smart Tiles have a 3 dimension look and reflect light. These tiles use an adhesive backing with a gel called Gel-O, and are guaranteed to stick. No need to add additional glue. The installation directions seem to be very easy, with a cut, peel and stick procedure. We ordered just one 4-pack to make sure the color, style, and size were what we expected. Very pleased, we will be measuring, ordering to complete our project.

This was the first self-adhesive tile sheet I installed. The job was more difficult as I had to go around a window. I had to cut to shape the tiles. The box knife over a piece of plywood worked nicely. I trimmed one end where there was going to be overlap as I though the next sheet would not fit over. As I finished, I no longer feel that end trimming was necessary. That said, you must put a particular side down before the next sheet is placed over it. You must plan this out first. I had taken old wall paper off and cleaned the remaining material. There is a strong need for the surface of the wall be free of loose material. I thought I had that cleared off to solid material but one area tried to lift off. Luckily there was enough overlap to keep it down. The pattern is nice and looks good. The sheets look to be easily cleaned with moist cloth, especially at the join points. Due to the adhesive, it is not easy to go under trim that is not removed. It worked for me as I loosened the trim to get the sheet under. A thick metal straight edge to guide the box cutter is essential and safer as the blade is kept straight and the blade does not escape and cut a finger. Nice design.

These peel and stick tiles are easy to cut with scissors or razor knife. The protective backing is removed by simply sliding your fingernail between the backing and the decorative surface like a bumper sticker. They stick well to walls and supposedly are repositionable for a short time. One word of caution is to NOT let the back adhesive surface contact the front of another. They stick very well (too well) to themselves. We ended up tearing one while trying to place another. When attempting to separate them, we tore it and the silver backing showed through the front. Luckily it is covered by a small wall mirror. The do look similar to ceramic tile from about 10 feet away. Do yourself a favor and get the type with the straight edges to make the patterns easy to align during application. The product is very easy to clean with a damp sponge or towel. The interlocking pattern has a letter on each sheet. This ensures the pattern is running in the same direction. Measure and layout the pattern, before cutting the sheets and applying to the surface. This is an easy way to add texture and color to any wall.
