False advertising

False advertising. I looked all over for a lamp like this, without an in-line switch (which a lot of them seem to have). I was so excited to come across this one, only to open it and find that it has an in-line switch, despite the online description that it had a rotary on/off switch. A waste of my time and my money.

Gorgeous and much bigger than expected. The inside brass is satin so not shiny or cheap looking. There were scratches to it on the inside but honestly didn't mind the worn/patina look to it. Would def recommend!

This lamp is beautiful. But as many reviews said, the sticker inside the shade scrapes the gold paint. Be careful removing the sticker. I had one replaced due to this issue. Second time I used a hair dryer to dry up the sticker and the sticker came out easily.

Cool, large desk lamp

This lamp adds a definite cool element to my office desk. It has a large shade area, but the shape of the neck means it's not too in the way. The base takes up a bit of space as well, but since it's flat, I often use it for my coffee cup. I wish the switch was on the lamp itself, but that hasn't been too big of an issue

Great look and value. A statement piece. Pretty lines and proportions. Would recommend for a desk/office. A very handsome piece, a black lamp with style.

Perfect for my modern guest bedroom. Placed one on each reeded nightstand and I am in love. Gives off lots of light for a task lamp but not so much that your eyes hurt. Highly recommend!

This lamp is gorgeous. I love how sleek it is. It looks expensive. It doesn't cast a lot of light, so it's better for either desktop or ambient. I love the modern look. Very high-quality peace.

Modern Art Vintage + LED lightbulb = YES!

So beautiful! No assembly - just took it out of the box and screwed in the light bulb. The included lightbulb is actually LED, which I prefer! (not compact flourescent (CFL) as listed in the description) It looks perfect in my library/home office, great light for reading, and the hand painted gold interior makes it look like a vintage lamp from a modern art museum!! There was a slightly alarming warning sticker on the OUTSIDE (black part, not gold part) of the lamp (so it sounds like they've gotten feedback not to put it on the inside where it's harder to remove the adhesive residue). The warning on the sticker said not to touch the shade or bulb until it had been turned off and cooled for 30 minutes. I think this might be leftover from when they used hotter CFL bulbs. I left the lamp on for a while and the only part that got hot was the base of the bulb, closest to the socket. The shade got just the barest bit warm. I would definitely buy this again.

This lamp fits perfect on my desk. The base is small enough that is does not take up much room. The lamp also comes with an LED bulb that is bright enough to light the whole room.

Huge and amazing!

This lamp is mush bigger than I was expecting, but it's so lovely! It's definitely a statement piece and would look great on a sideboard or credenza behind a sofa for reading. I had ordered it for my bedside table, but am now using it for my standing desk and I couldn't be happier. The top is adjustable and the cord is wrapped in cloth fibers, so it feels very high end.

Fantastic light

The lamp definitely elevates my workspace. It provides artistic flair, plenty of light, and is adjustable. The switch is located on the cord, so be sure to have it readily accessible.

Love design. Works fine. Removed 2 prominent "stickers"inside hood, gold paint came off-kinda ugly. Should be placed someplace else. Dims OK

Most attractive modern design. My only complaint is the label that is stuck on the gold finished underside of the shade..and that it is next to impossible to remove. Otherwise..great modern/organic design!!!! More than a year later..STILL trying to get the labels off of the inside of the shade, without harming the gold finish...I probably should have returned this. Really attractive lamp..bad Gabe..bad bad bad label!

These are the best deal at overstock. I followed this product on other sites and never found Overstock's price matched. I love how these unique and modern lamps made my guest room something other than mundane. The gold finish isn't perfect but looks more authentic with the scratched look of the surface. I personally prefer the black version of these. It looks very industrial and timeless, while I think the white version appears more suited to trendier rooms.

Got two of these mid century modern lamps in black and white for my bedroom to compliment my desk in white with gold color base and black velvet chair also with gold color base. They came very well packaged, pre assembled, bulbs included and are great quality. The inside color coating looks more like painted with rough stroked brush, which gives more unique feeling to it. I would say they seem and look bigger than I was expecting, but overall great pieces to brighten up the room and decorate any room of the house.
