[Rewarded Review] Beautiful tile, but very thin and tricky to install.

I got this Apollo Tile glass sheeting to use as an accent strip in a shower makeover, and to use inside the bottle and soap inset cubby. I already had my field tile and was excited to get started but there are a couple of things about this material that will make it more difficult for a tiler like me with intermediate level skill. First, the tile is extremely thin - it's less than half the thickness of my field tile and is going to pose an issue in keeping the tiles on the same plane. I can address that by using a bullnose that matches my field tile if one exists to bridge the field and accent strip and then the differing planes won't matter. If I want the glass accent tiles to be flush with the field, I will have to get the thinnest foam backerboard and I think that should even out the planes. Inside the cubby won't matter. My second issue is in how the sheet is held together - it isn't held by a mesh glued to the backside, it's held together by a kraft paper glued to the front. When you install the tile you will need to use the absolute smallest notched trowel to prevent thinset from squeezing out because the glass is so thin, yet the paper prevents you from seeing the squeezeout. When the tile is fairly well set you moisten the paper face to remove it and your window of adjusting tile position is closing, so you need to work quickly. And when you remove the paper you don't have one big sheet of tile adhered to the wall - you have hundreds of little teeny tiles so be careful adjusting them. If I were doing a counter with this I would have no hesitation and just dive in and it would be easy peasy. All that said, I'm not sorry I got this product, it is gorgeous and will really make a space pop. I just really have to step up my tile skills to make this look good.
