I recently installed the recessed retrofit fixture for my shower. It was very easy to install. The adjustable feature for lighting level and temperature (warm to cool levels) was great. I was able to find tune the type of illumination that I needed in this small space.
Easy to install.
Easy install. I was able to change the light to match the rest of the lighting in the house. Very good functionality. So far so good. Hoping it lasts longer than the original I replaced. That one lasted 2 and a half years. Different brand, though.
Cheap China Lights
Do not buy these. I am a licensed electrician who installs this type of stuff daily. The springs are junk. They keep falling off of the housing while trying to put them up. The color changing switch has not matched the color it is supposed to be on some of them. Not good. There are definitely better options out there for this price point.
Good value, fits in original ceiling hole.
The box of 4 was a good replacement for the 6 installed in our Family Room ceiling by a contractor about 10 years ago, we had one go out just recently. They are indeed daylight "color". The cost for 4 was a good value. The only minor annoyance was taking one out of the box. The 4 spring "arms" make that very difficult, especially since we wanted just one at this time, and so did not want to destroy the box. But all in all it was a good purchase and reasonably easy to install in place of the burnt out one.
A tiny bit larger diameter would be golden
Excellent retrofit fixtures at a reasonable price. I love that you can select the color temperature and even the lumens. They install easily, especially if you have C clips inside the can, which I didn't and had to add them with another product, and they are bright and flicker-free. The only thing I wish the manufacturers would do, and this is inherent in most retrofits, is to make the outer diameter a bit larger. I had to purchase Goof Plates to finish off the installation because, although the holes for the old cans were cut perfectly, the ring on the retrofits doesn't quite cover the entire thing. An extra 1/2" or 3/4" would have been ideal. After replacing all twelve of our old fixtures, overall, I am very satisfied with these downlights.
I used this to retrofit a failed Halo CFL can. Obviously, I cut off the Edison base and threaded the cables into the junction box, where I bypassed the failed ballast. Luckily the cables between the screw-base and the connector are long enough for this.
LOVE THEM! I have lived in a dark kitchen for years. Finally had enough and bought five of these lights. OH MY GOODNESS - what a difference. They were super easy to install and the adjustability is a game changer. I put mine on the bright white setting and installed a dimmer switch. Could not be happier. Well worth the money.
Bought 31 of these HALO lights.
My contractor gave me a choice of Sunco CAN lights or cheaper Halo CAN light. I chose the Sucno light. What a mistake! The CAN lights suggested by my contractor flickered madly with the Lutron Diva dimmer switches. These lights are MUCH better: These have sturdy metal trim unlike the plastic trim. These have switches to go up to 1300 lumens. Now I have a bright kitchen. The light is MUCH BETTER. It is more dispersed. They don't flicker anymore! Good light is a pleasure to have.
Throw Away the Spring Clips
Overall, the light assembly is very nice. I didn't like the foam seal so replaced it with the thicker silicone seal that came with the light I was replacing. As a retrofit unit it is easy to fit replace the original light assembly.
EARLY FAILURE
Don't believe the 32 year life span on the box. I bought 12 of these 3 years ago and installed in the living room and kitchen. Set them all to 3000K. All of them have been trouble-free for the last 3 years. As of last month, one of them is flickering and shifting colors randomly every 30-90 seconds. It hasn't totally failed, but unless like having a light flicker and change colors is "normal", I would call this one dead.
Great LED retrofit fixture. Like the design, quality, selection of color temps, ease of wiring. Replacing my 5 old can lights should have been an easy job with these, except that the spring clips didn't fit my mid-80s can fixtures. The spacing of the springs just weren't far enough apart to allow the springs to stay engaged as I pushed the trim up to the ceiling. After some minutes of struggling, I found the spacing between the spring mounts was about an inch too narrow to allow the springs to engage the bracket ears in my cans. The brackets that mount the springs can be adjusted in (to accommodate 5 inch fixtures) but can't be adjusted out any wider.
These are high quality lights with metal trim that looks a lot better than some competitors with plastic trim. The lights were easy to install into existing cans with E26 base adapter. Having both selectable lumens (brightness) and CCT (color) made adjusting these to our aesthetics, style and needs a breeze. Other lights with fixed lumens or color would have been a mistake for us since what we ended with in the setting would not have been my first choice in selecting fixtures without these as selectable options. As a note - these replaced LED recessed fixtures that were "gen1" from 25 years ago.
Used two of these to replace the dim original can lights over the tub/showers in our guest baths. Installation was straightforward and the result was excellent. The new lights are much brighter than the original ones and thanks to the selectable CCT and lumens could adjust to match the lighting of the vanity lights. This was a great DYI upgrade. Lots of bang for the buck, highly recommend.
Suitable with modifications
I picked this line up a while back because I needed to replace my incandescent light on my front porch. The selling features that I liked were the three different settings on the light. It was easy enough to install, but the problem I had is the springs that hold it taught to the ceiling are really not that strong so I had to modify it to make it stay. I used magnets and a little bit of glue to hold it in place, not really happy about that but once you modify something you can’t return it. I would really like it if they would beef up the spring with a little more tension. But as far as the light goes, I’m very pleased with it.
Easy install and nice look
The HALO RL56 Series white retrofit kit is an excellent choice for anyone looking to upgrade their home lighting. The kit is easy to install, making it a great option for those who want to avoid the hassle of hiring an electrician. The design is sleek and modern, with a clean white finish that blends seamlessly into most home decor. The LED lights are energy-efficient, providing bright, clear light without consuming excessive power.
Easy to Install
What I love about the HALO 5/6 in. Selectable CCT and Lumens, LED Recessed light is that it is so easy to install. I had a "can" version of this, which made me crazy when I tried to replace the glass bulbs. So I was excited to replace it with the HALO selectable LED recessed light. It was really easy to install, and HALO instructions are clear and easy to follow. I like that threre is a "bulb" connection option, because I can see where that would come in handy in some situations. Also, just be sure to play with the LED settings before you snap the light in place. It does not use WIFI, so there isn't a easy way to change the lumens once the HALO light is in place. All in all, it was very easy to install and I am so glad I won't have to buy any more flood light bulbs! Highly recommend the HALO 5/6 in. Selectable CCT and Lumens, LED Recessed light!
Perfect
We received this to use in my wife's closet. I am a little above average when it comes to home improvement projects. This light is perfect not only in terms of usage but installation as well. The ability to choose your light color is very handy to have when using in rooms with walls painted other than white. The ability to install using clips or springs comes in very handy. The multiple wiring options provides even the novice installer with options. Finally, being able to further control the light with a dimmer is just an added bonus not often found in LED lights.

Easy as pie installation (for me) for all almost anyone with an existing light in a recessed area. Just make certain the current opening where you are considering installing it allows enough space to accommodate for depth of light... 2"?
Worth the Price
I've installed a number of these in my home, as well as a number of the cheaper Commercial Electric look-alikes, and these Halo fixtures are a better value. Any retrofit LED fixtures with wire-spring holders are harder to install and often slip down from the ceiling after a few months; these Halos include blade-spring holders that are easier to install and grip the inside of the recessed can more firmly. (If you prefer the wire springs, the Halos include those as well.)

I've had to replace alot of 10 year old LED fixtures in the past few years, as some of the early technology isn't as durable as promised. I had been looking for a few years for a replacement fixture that would fit my CREE odd sized (5.25") recessed cans, and came with the necessary friction arms. My cans were wired for GU24 so I had to buy an adapter but worth it. The selectable color feature is fantastic, as you can try out the different choices in the space at the time of installation instead of guessing during the purchase. I was replacing malfunctioning 2700K fixtures, but couldn't decide whether I wanted the new ones to be 2700K or 3000K, and this was the perfect choice. I was also happy to find these under 700 lumens (most replacements now seem to be 1000 lumens and more), and I was replacing old fixtures that were only 560 lumens. These are slightly brighter but not objectionably and I can dim them if necessary.
