We love the screen, the smell is not bad, dissipates quickly. Very sturdy and substantial.

Not all wood. Mostly MDF. Inaccurate description.

I have had this for several years and have just discovered that the carved part is not mango wood. It is MDF because veneer chipped. I would not have purchased or kept this in my home. Unhealthy.

Heavy and sturdy. It does have a smell of being stained, but that will pass and I wouldn't let it be a deterrent from purchasing. There are imperfections in lining up some of the wood pieces at the top and don't impact function and aren't terribly noticeable. I'm using it in a basement where perfection isn't critical. Worth the inexpensive price.

Beautiful and sturdy and yes it needs time to air out the smell of the seal.

Beautiful Carved Wood Screen

This is a really beautiful, heavy, carved, wooden screen. Arrived quickly and well packaged. Stain had a funny smell for a few days but I just kept the door closed and subsided smell without any residual in a carpeted and furnished room.

Quality was less than expected. It was not sanded smooth and was spray stained with no varnish.

Made a gorgeous headboard!

I attached this to my wall behind my king-sized bed and it fits perfectly as a headboard. The carving is beautiful. It is a heavy, expensive-looking piece!

Summer Mango

Around 11 trees were recently cut down in my area. After reading a few reviews, I decided to get this particular screen to deal with the excessive hot sun now making its way into my home. It filters light well in an eye pleasing manner. I received this a couple days ago, so I am still airing/drying it out. I will leave it opened up until surface is completely dry. Instructions state not to place in direct sunlight, so I used a couple fans to help the process.

This is very heavy and sturdy. As others have said, it smelled terrible upon arrival but aired out in a few weeks. My biggest disappointment is the stain quality and color. The stain on the framing pieces isn't the same color as the stain on the carved panels, which doesn't look good. The color is also just dark brown--nothing like this "caramel" others have mentioned. The screen works, and I would be physically incapable of carrying it anywhere to return it--it is really very heavy, but I do wish it looked more like other people's photos, or at least that they had used the same stain all over. It looks better from a distance. Please note that, although the description says it has double-sided hinges, it does NOT.

Pretty but damaged

Both pieces arrived damaged. Boxes banged up on outside so you know what your going to get inside. I ordered wood epoxy and will see how it goes to repair them. The legs splintered and a panel is missing a piece of wood. You get what you pay for. I got them to section off the bed area of a studio apartment. If they last a year or two, they served the purpose.

Well Constructed & Beautiful but Shipping Woes

This is beautifully crafted item and shipped quickly. Very happy overall. However, it did have a very fresh coat of some potent smelling and sticky type wax or varnish. Not a pleasant natural wax odor. We had to run the air purifiers for days to rid the house of the strong chemical smell. So allow time to air this out. And you will want to rub off excess wax or whatever it is (felt and smelled like shoe polish) with a cotton cloth or it will transfer to your hands as you position it. Also, we had a pretty badly smashed area on one panel and inquired about getting a small refund towards repairs. But Overstock would only allow us to return the item for an exchange or full refund. This is so large and heavy that there was no way I was going to be able to wrap it back in the original package and return it to UPS. So we will deal with the repair ourselves at our own expense. Aside from these cons, it is a very well constructed piece of useful art and we are pleased. Kudos to the artisans. But UPS has no regard for fragile (and heavy) items. This is labeled a team lift object but our driver delivered it solo. So be advised.

Lovely Work of Art

This piece is magnificent. It's a real heavy work of art. The carvings allow the light to come through, which is lovely.

Must Have Mango Tango

This piece is absolutely gorgeous!!! The photos do not do it justice. It appears a shade lighter in my photos. Its actually a deep dark caramel color, like a dark whiskey color which is the color of my italian leather couch you see in my photos I included. I bought this for 2 uses: primarily as a shade to keep the sunlight out and as a room divider. I have a large sliding glass door that leads to my porch. The apartment comes equipped with a screen shade for the glass door. However, the setting sun is really hot in Texas, this mangowood room divider is another layer of shade to keep the sun out. Of course the wood panels have carvings so some light gets in, but it still helps tremendously to keep the Livingroom temperature cool. Is it heavy to move around? It's medium weight and I can move it around without strain. I am 5'5 of medium built and I can move it around easily. It is heavier when all 4 shades are closed and you're trying to move it, but I can still move it. I like to keep it closed during the day to let the light in. You'll see it in the photo leaning against the wall to the right corner. I like how easy it is to tuck it away when not in use. Does it smell? A slight odor when you first unbox it, its the staining of the wood. It fades after a few hours, not a big deal at all. Avoid rubbing the wood as you will remove the coated stain. Allow it to sit for a couple of days. This is a beautiful piece of mangowood. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Overstock.
