This rug is a statement piece. It is made of hide with hair. Eventually over time with traffic and vacuuming the hair will very gradually come off, exposing just areas of leather below. This is just something to consider - I found the aging process to just add interest but it will change in appearance over time. To clean, you will vacuum it without the brush (use "floor mode"). I was able to clean spills up easily without staining using carpet cleaner or a mild soap. Because its real hair, it doesn't stain. Note that the "wearing off of hair" came more from foot traffic than vacuuming. The areas where this occurred were in front of seating etc. I do wear shoes in my house and have animals which could impact the rate of wear.

unique and so pretty

LOVE LOVE LOVE! This is gorgeous and so unique! I bought it for my entryway, which makes me a little nervous, but it looks so good! I think it will be fairly easy to clean as well - really love this purchase.

The natural hairs come off

I have owned the rug for 8 months now. I have it at the entryway with heavy traffic and the rug stays very clean . No dirt spots. I vacuum it once a week and that's pretty much it. However, on the last few weeks I started to notice these discolored dark and light spots and after inspecting really closed I noticed the natural hairs are coming off and the spots are the lining on the bottom showing. I didn't see this coming so I am not too pleased with it. Those spots look like dirt even though they are not dirt.

Love this rug! We get so my compliments and quality far exceeds the cost. It looks exactly as picture but the colors are a bit more varied. It is nice and heavy so no rug pads were necessary since the furniture on top is also quite heavy.

Pretty Rug

Rug is very pretty, good quality, I wanted something with more grey/ivory tones - rug picked up a lot of yellow/gold tones that did not go with my dining area! Overall a nice rug and design is very pretty and different

Beautiful, High Quality Leather Rug

This rug is BEAUTIFUL and very well made. It lays flat, even on-top of the carpet we have in our dining space. It did have a strong chemical smell when I unpacked it, but we put it in the garage for two days before we placed it under our table and the scent had dissipated! Cleaning a hide rug is so much easier than a traditional carpet! I highly recommend this rug. (I actually reordered the same rug in a smaller size for my entrance way!)

Good buy!

This rug was purchased for my husband's home office. Quality is great and stitching is impeccable! As this is natural rabbit hair sewn together there was a certain smell, not pungent, as we unpacked and rolled it out. Smell faded in 2 weeks! Didn't need a rug pad as the office table's weight was enough to hold in place.

Beautiful rug and it looks amazing in my entry way. Arrived on time and would highly recommende. The rug does have a scent when opened but it disappeared quickly.

I wish i could give it 5 stars, because it's stunning! The only reason for 4 stars is the odor from the rug. I've aired it out and it's still there. Aside from that, the color is brilliant, it's well made and looks very high end. It lays perfectly flat and the stitching is perfect. Extremely fast shipping as well. I would definitely recommended this beautiful find- hopefully the smell in time will minimize.
