This is a great rug, but it is very chunky. The knots are big and the surface is not smooth. That said, it is a terrific rug for an entry. I purchased it for a bedroom - a rug for each side of the bed - but it is not the smooth soft surface I needed for bare feet. Handsome rug nonetheless! Unfortunately, I had to return it.

Great coastal jute rug- beachy feel

Color is a true navy blue, keep in mind- this is a rustic, “hand woven look” (actually machine made in India) rug made of jute. This is a natural material, it has a lot of perfections, you have to be OK with that. Like where the jute run stops & is hand tied to the next run – it’s not tucked in - just a knot sticking up. So take a screwdriver and just push it to the other side after you decide what side to put down on your floor. Also - the edges are a bit uneven- again is rustic. I’m still working on this room- including pictures. (Btw- it arrived damp, you have to let it dry out). I put a ceiling fan on. I read of a smell- did not experience that. I have it on top of a rug - and have read where on a floor could be less comfortable. Not sure on that. I find it beautiful- perfect for the beach. What is very important to note is the difference between navy blue and blue. Navy blue is just a bit electric blue. I found the blue to be a true or navy/with brown jute in it. I actually received one navy blue and one blue as a mistake, ended up returning the Navy for the blue as the runner and the area rug were next to each other & completely different. Because I was in a club member, the return was free which was a great benefit.
