Piece of art. Modern lines without compromising light. I cannot recommend this enough. I decided a few years ago to start updating the outside lights on my house. After replacing a dome light, I have been on the hunt for the replacements for my garage door wall lamps. This turned out to be harder than expected, until now. I have a few key criteria in mind; it has to look nice, be well constructed, not shoot light into the sky and yet produce ample light for things in the driveway at night. Many others I have returned because they integrate an LED and while looking nice they don't provide enough light. This one has a nice flat top that reduces the light pollution to reflected light, mostly. Installation was easy. And the wall mount even fit on a single piece of hardy-board siding (making the caulking effort easier). When I purchased online, I was a little concerned the gold inlayed rectangle would be too much, but it is a subdued color - closer to a brass and as a result does not overwhelm me. It adds just enough 'pop' to make it noticeable. Very pleased.

We replaced a colonial style lantern and this one has a much more regal appearance. We installed it with an amber-glass Edison-style bulb (Home Depot 310154587) which looks simply amazing with the black/gold of the lantern. In the evening it emits a cozy glow (hands down the nicest on the block). Installation is as easy as screwing the mounting bracket to the electrical box, connecting the three color-coded wires, and then affixing the lantern with 2 screws to the mounting bracket. One thing that could make this better though, would be an improved mounting design. The screws go through the sides of the fixture (rather than the front) and I was unable to tighten it flush to the wall as you can with a front-screw mount. This resulted in a sizeable gap between the back-plate and the wall. I filled the gap with clear caulk for a watertight seal, which is ok, but I would have preferred if it sat more firmly against the wall, and I wouldn't have bothered with caulking at all (maybe just the top). Finally, - an installation tip - put the glass in AFTER you've mounted the fixture. It's easier and lighter to work with minus the panes (and safer). Overall, looks great and happy with it.
