Buy this island!

I love this island! Arrived earlier than promised & very well packaged/no damage. 3 hrs to complete solo (including unpacking & carrying the pieces up a flight of stairs). Hint: Read the directions several times before starting. It isn’t too difficult; top is heavy to put in place by one person. Definitely use a screw gun at very slow speed. Leveling the base is imperative for Doors/drawers to align without gaps. Love the extra storage & drawers. I shopped countless online and in store pieces and this is exactly what I had envisioned for the space. The French white is a very close match to my upper cabinets which was a concern when ordering online. The wood top is flawless, is flat & level; no gap at seam seam when drop leaf is raised

We have needed a kitchen island for our home we moved into two years ago, so we have been looking for awhile. Everything looked cheap and small. When I found the Homestyles Kitchen Island on Overstock.com, I fell in love with it. I was looking for an Island that was all wood, too, so this Island was perfect! It arrived quickly and my husband put it together. He said the assembly was easy because the drawer rails were already attached and the pull out sides were fully assembled and just needed to be bolted. We did have a broken piece of wood and the top got damaged in shipping. I called Overstock.com and these are being replaced. They have called to say these parts are being processed and we’ll get a tracking number in 24 hours. The Island is the perfect size. The top is extremely solid and heavy. The top color blends in with our kitchen cabinets. Our son even commented that it wasn’t the cheap stuff from other stores. We are extremely happy with our purchase and would recommend it as a purchase that anyone would be happy with!

Sadly it wasn’t white like it says

I would definitely recommend bc it’s truly beautiful and solid. And I mean solid, it came in 4 boxes and one of which 130lbs alone. Which is why I don’t feel like I can return it. Plus I didn’t see the product until proud husband was done building it. But I am terribly bummed it’s not white as stated in multiple spots on the link provided by Lowe’s. Which is the only reason I gave 3 stars. And I usually never leave a review but I didn’t want anyone else to run into this problem if they had their hearts set on white. Bc it’s an investment in price and lifting.

Wrong color!

I was so excited to have our new island in time for Thanksgiving. Got it today, had it put together by a friend, and came home to a huge eye sore in our kitchen!! The description clearly says "white," however this island is NOT white! It is beige/cream/ivory, whatever you want to call it. I'm sure it would be lovely if I had that color in my house, but my kitchen has greys and actual white, so the island looks HORRIBLE! So disappointed that we just dropped nearly $700 and the seller doesn't clarify that even though they say "white" they don't actually mean "white." Frustrating doesn't even begin to describe it!

No one who has seen this beautiful piece of furniture can believe it was an assemble-it-yourself project. It is solidly constructed, sturdy and substantial. (You will figure that out when you attempt to move the three boxes that contain all the parts.) Assembling it is a two-person job for sure because of the size of the pieces and their weight. The assembly process took us two days but not because the directions were confusing. They were clear for the most part, but perhaps the writer could do a better job of highlighting critical points. This could be done either with words or with attention-getting illustrations. Cam screws and locks, for example. They are pretty straightforward but you can't screw them in too much or too little or the locks will tumble out. They have to be screwed in precisely right. Assuming no knowledge on the part of the consumer would help those of us with limited assembly experience. All of the hardware was individually packaged in labeled bags, which was much appreciated. The cabinet space is more than adequate, and the whole piece has the look and feel of a built-in kitchen cabinet. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to others with no reservations.

Satisfied purchase

The island arrived in 5 large boxes earlier than I expected. They were very heavy. I was able to put the chairs together pretty independently. I received some help from my dad with the island. Instructions are fantastic and they give you extra hardware which is great. It it very well made and looks beautiful in my kitchen. The kids gravitate toward it. The distressed marks on the top are a little too evenly placed and I do get asked about them but I don’t find them noticeable. Overall I have no buyers remorse and feel it was what I needed, quick, easy to assemble and did not break the bank.
