Great Bookcase

I liked this bookcase so much I ordered 3 more after my first purchase. Well built, and no issues for any of the four. Assembled easily.

fine for what it is

Looks nice. Went together fairly smoothly. Only one bolt looked like it would need to be forced, but I tried a spare and it worked fine. Weighs a ton so it's hard to move and it is made out of particleboard so the shelves will sag if you load them up with books. And the pinholes on the sides make it possible to position a shelf where no sane person would want to. The position of the fixed shelf makes it impossible to space the shelves evenly so the bottom two are slightly smaller than the top four. But the whole thing is 84" tall so that's not a big problem. The levelers on the bottom are a nice feature.

Nice bookcase

This arrived with no damages, all parts included. The directions were easy to follow. My dad put it together. He is highly skilled, yet a perfectionist, and it took about 5 hours to put together. It is a beautiful bookcase. Very sturdy, but I have bolted it to the wall for safety purposes. The outside of the bookcase is solide wood, as are the shelves. Four shelves are adjustable. The backing is a laminate material, but that doesn't bother me. My books will be covering it up and it still looks nice. I am pleased with my purchase.

Bookcase looks better on line than in my house

This bookcase is OK for the purpose for which I purchased it. However, I have it in a room where visitors will not see it as it looks much better on line than when you actually see it. I probably would not have purchased it if I had seen it in the store.

Heavy but sturdy Book Case

The directions are confusing. I read before putting the bookcase together. Did not have the dowels so had to go to store to buy a piece of 1/4 inch round wood dowel. I had to cut the dowels to length necessary. The locking screws were a challenge to screw into the hole with the fastening screw. I got the middle shelf attached backwards with unfinished edge to the front. Decided to stain and add something to cover it. So far, it is holding my books. I need another bookcase for all the books I have. After all the do it yourself problems, I will order another of these shelves. The pieces were in good condition. I found screwing in the screws could chip a bit of the pressed laminate. With all the books, cannot see any scratches. Hope it lasts for about 5 years as I got a lot of books on those shelves that I want to read.

bookcase fine - no assembly instructions

I ordered 2 of these bookcases for new staff in our office. The bookcases look nice and feel sturdy, but there were NOT any assembly instructions in either box; so we had to just "hope" we were doing it right!

Received in a big box. No damage. Fast delivery. A higher quality put together yourself bookcase. Two person easy. Did it myself, not too difficult. Would buy again.

What a royal pain to put this together! When I got part way through, I discovered that the back was so far off square that there was no way I could make it fit properly. I had been under the impression that HON made quality products. In any event, this bookcase is going back.

Impossible

Received merchandise in good shape and the color is perfect. Tried to install the pieces and it is terrible. I am returning the item for a refund.

I was very clear when I purchased this bookshelf that I wanted quality. I never mentioned price. I was assured that HON was an excellent quality of furniture.
