Disappointed

Even though settings are the same for 7 days, light only automatically comes on 3 of the 7 days. I have re-programmed many times, but same issue. I have shut off/on breaker, no difference.

Inferior quality

Would not by again no recommend. Spend ~$5 more and get a reputable one.

Great device

An incredible device at a reasonable price, Flexible enough to use in so many applications. The only possible problem is that the physical size can make installation difficult when replacing an existing switch and the box has many wires.

a challenge to program, but works great

This astronomical timer allows you to replace a standard "decora" style wall switch. The timer will either function as a routine on-off timer, or can be programmed to follow actual sunrise and sunset times. It also has a "random" position to slightly vary the programmed times. Works well, but the display is small (not that you need to look at it once it's programmed), and initial programming can be a bit challenging. Requires a 3-wire circuit (ground plus hot/neutral/common), so if your wiring does not have a common (white), this timer will not work. Also, beware that the timer itself is deeper/wider than the standard wall switch, so it may necessitate some "wire housekeeping" in the box where it is to be installed in order to clear enough room for it to fit in the electrical box.

Just what I needed

I installed this many months ago, and it is still tracking sunset times correctly and functioning perfectly. One of the unwritten features is a built-in (non-replaceable) rechargeable battery so that you don't lose programming and time information in a power failure. It works well with CFL bulbs or incandescent. This product is not suitable for three-way switches. If you are installing this in a multi-gang application next to other wall switches that are not of the Decora format, make sure to buy at the same time a suitable wall plate with holes of mixed sizes, which can be harder to find. For me, it adds to security at home, convenience when I get home after dark, and I don't need to re-adjust it every month to compensate for the shorter and longer days with seasonal change. Because it can also drive CFL bulbs which consume less power, I don't hesitate to keep lights on all night.

Tracks sunset like it is supposed to

The main reason that I chose this timer over a standard non-tracking one was to avoid the repeated resetting as the days grow longer or shorter. After approximately one week's use I was able to confirm that the tracking function was working as it should. I programmed the initial start time to be at sunset (adjusted for the published local sunset time) and approximately one week later compared the actual start time to the published local sunset time for that date. It was within one minute. Not explained adequately in the instruction sheet is the ability to adjust the default sunset or sunrise times to be more accurate for a local area for a given date much the same as for adjusting the clock's time of day.

L:ights Out

Pros:Looks great .Complete hardware in package.Fairly straightforward to install.Keeps perfect time.Cons:Worked perfect for 3 days.Tried all factory resets-defaults.Had another person run through all insructions and set up.Unit stopped turning lights on programmed times.Would only shut off programmed times ,after manaully turning lights on.Works great as a regular on-off switch.Have other timers of this brand, for over 20 years with no issues

Vary Versitile

I was pleased with the timer. It installed easily. I did find it bit difficult to program because of the awkward place it was installed in the basement as a replacement to a traditional mechanical timer. The small display makes the initial programming a chore. Once installed it has been great and has been in use for about a month. I really wanted something that I could install and then forget about. So far this has fit the purpose.
