A Great Piece of Furniture

The bookcase is exactly what I wanted. It looks great in my living room. I would had loved if it came assembled. I had to pay my Super to assemble it for me which took a little over an hour. I am extremely pleased with the results.

This is a solid bookcase. It has been easy for me to put together as well. I'm very happy with this purchase. I purchase it unfinished so I can finish it once I decide where it belongs.

Well Made Attractive Bookcase

Product was well packaged and arrived undamaged. Color was darker than picture shown, and I expected a lighter shade to go with my existing furniture. Color printed on box was described as "espresso," a dark brown color. Picture or description should be modified. However, bookcase is made of sturdy wood, very attractive and is of excellent quality. No holes were provided on back of bookcase to attach the 2 wooden strips behind the backing piece.

Assembly Requires Drilling

The bookcase ultimately turned out beautifully, but the assembly instructions were incomplete. Assembling the bookcase requires drilling holes in order to install the shelves, which is not clear from this listing or from the instruction.s

Good solid wood, easy to put together and looks exactly as described. It won’t be the centerpiece of a room but it’s a discreet and reliable piece

Perfect for our library

Got tired of cheap particle board shelves, so we sprung for these. Well worth the money. Very sturdy and attractive. We stack hardcovers on the shelves and there is no sign of bowing. Assembly was fairly easy; expect to use a drill to create pilot holes for the screws to attach the back panel.

High Bookcase

I love it! It was easy to assemble and looks great. Decided to not paint or stain it. I love it just the way it is. So happy that I was able to find matching bookcases ... one low and one high.

Wonderful solid wood bookshelf!

Great solid wood bookcase. We purchased the unfinished variant and rubbed it down with tung oil and the result looks stellar. Assembly was also very simple.

Good book shelf!

This bookshelf is a good quality piece of furniture crafted from good materials, finished nicely and packaged well so that it arrived undamaged and ready to assemble. Assembly was relatively easy to do by myself, but would've been easier with help it is somewhat heavy. We purchased this shelf to replace one of those cheap particle board units and are very happy with our choice. We can definitley reccomend it as a good purchase for a shelf that looks good in any room as a piece of actual furniture, not just a place to stack books and such.

Pleased with the cases I ordered. Solid wood EXCEPT for the back of the case. I ordered two, both backings were damaged upon arrival. 2 shelves are stationary, which limits the shelf adjustment for taller items.

This is what we all want, real material as in solid wood through and through, simple elegant design, impeccable craftmanship as in: each component aligns, and it is well finished. The price is fair and not jacked up by some fancy hollow branding by third parties that just flip the price twice to make a buck. Thank you, Home Depot, for bringing an honest, functional and beautiful product. Even though the delivery was a very messy experience I give it a five star solely based on the product itself.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED / Great for Books

Exceeded all expectations! Hardwood quality evident when I drilled added holes to adjust shelf. Even back panel is real wood, w/ screws not nails. WELL packaged: thick, soft plastic (no styrofoam) & protected corners. Easy assembly. (TIPS: don't tighten top shelf until back panels are fully inserted into groove; carefully align and pre-drill back panel holes into fixed shelves.) Unknown load-per-shelf, but use for books with confidence. NOTE: "Expresso" is darker than in listing (see photos).

The bookshelf was fairly easy to assemble and the material seems to be decent quality. I especially like that the back is actual wood (though very thin) instead of cardboard like a lot of bookshelves. My biggest complaint is the adjustable shelf inserts have limited options for height of placement, so I can't put taller books or objects on the shelves. The wall attachment is a bit awkward too, which is a couple of zip-ties between loops attached to the back and to the wall.Overall though I think the bookshelf is nice and sturdy.

The engineering was really good. The parts assembled pretty well. Read the directions carefully as the screws for the backing could be installed incorrectly. Three of the eight shelf units had either a missing or a broken fastener that I had to replace with other parts. Two were missing washers and one a broken shelf hanger. The biggest problem was one unit, had a split and broken bottom shelf front piece that I had to wood glue, clamp and then use wood stain to help conceal the broken wood. Other than that, the shipping material really did a great job in keeping the rest of the shelving from damage. Made in Vietnam, they had a long way to travel. Took longer to unpack than assemble and a lot of foam packing to get rid of. Lots of cardboard that I did recycle.

As others have commented, the shelves are bit darker than advertised, but that's actually better in my opinion. It looks very nice and I really wanted to be happy with this.Everything's great during the assembly until you get to the back panels, which are subpar and have a mediocre fit. The screws for attaching them are perfect for splitting the shelves you're blindly screwing into (when the panels are in place you can't see the shelves, so you can't tell if you're screwing into the center of the shelf or not). It's a shame because the rest is well thought-out and comes together logically. A less destructive way to attach the back panels and rear supports would change this to a 5/5.

Great solid wood bookcases!

These are fantastic! I have been searching for bookcases that would match a mcm vibe without being $$$$ a piece or primarily made of particle board. These fit the bill and they're all wood! The espresso is a little darker than the photos as others have suggested. I would have preferred a little lighter but for the sake of not finishing them myself I decided to take the risk and am not dissapointed, it's a beautiful finish regardless. You definitely need two people to carry the boxes but assembly is a piece of cake. I'm a 30 year old female and was able to put these together myself with nothing other than a screwdriver. Attached pictures to show the color, these are pretty true to life.

Extremely well made, beautiful bookcase

I bought 5 of these bookcases and they are exceptionally well made. They are 100% solid wood, the shelves attach with bolts not screws. They are easy to assemble, maybe 20 minutes each if taking your time. They look fabulous and being solid wood will last forever. Also, they are packed amazingly well so they arrive without any scratches or marks. However, at the Lowes warehouse someone drove a folk lift through one of the boxes but even that only damaged one piece which the company shipped a replacement to me within 48 hours. Five stars on design, quality, packing and customer service.

Lovely sturdy shelf!

I got this on sale, so the price was only a little higher than the standard cheap college dorm-level bookshelves. But this one is worth it at full price. It is heavy, stable, and sturdy, and most of it is solid wood. It looks very nice in my living room and I expect we will be using it for decades.
