The rug looks the same as the advertisement. Depending on how you vacuum it, it might look darker or lighter at some view points.

Lovely rug, looks nice under our kitchen table, and feels good on our toes. We didn't need a pad as I think it would have made sliding the chairs in and out a thicker nuisance.
