jars have scars and flaws from molding process

Poor quality. Some of the jars have flaws. I guess from the molding process. One jar had a concave flaw on the side of the jar so deep I question the safety of the jar and tossed the jar in the trash. Most of the flaws are only cosmetic. I will not purchase again.

A jar split apart at the bottom while processing jam in a 10 minute water bath. What mess! I dont trust these for future canning efforts. In 60 years of canning I've never had a jar break while processing. I really like the wide mouth 8 oz jar design but am sticking with Ball jars from now on.

1/2 pint wide mouth jars

shipment was in two separate packages. only received one as the other one was sent back from the carrier due to damage. the one i received was also damaged and half the jars were cracked. seemed like it was packaged ok with bubble wrap but maybe just carelessness from the carrier. either way wont use any of the jars because i don't want to find out during the tuna canning process that majority of them are cracked.

KERR WIDE MOUTH 8 oz Mason Jar

I love the clear glass jars that is the signature KERR GLASS . These 8 ounce ( 1 cup ) are perfect for smaller quantities of my preservation endeavors. The small jar also serves as a really novel serving container; takeoff the lid and set it on the table with relish, jam, or for individual servings of applesauce, tapioca etc.

Great Jars

Delivered quickly and in a nice padded box so none were broken. I use these jars for everything from meal prep to crafts. Perfect size for those small things you don’t want to lose or throw away. ,

Great jar, poor packing

Excellent jar quality and versatility due to small size and wide mouth. However, the packing for glass shipping was very poor. Box came with several cases all shuffled up and side-ways packing moved the jars uneavenly. Fortunately, none seemed broken, but we haven't opened each case to verify.

A New Favorite

These wide mouth 8oz jars are wonderful! The shorter profile and slightly rounded bottom makes it easy to get every bit of food out. Cooking for one makes putting up stock essential and it’s so nice to have containers you truly enjoy using. And washing them is easier with my arthritis - shorter distance to get to the bottom of the jar. Yes, other 8oz jars have their uses too, but I do love these Kerr jars.

Your written description was detailed and the picture was perfect, BUT, the customer wanted the 8 oz jar so much that I went with the above but did not consider freezing and canning space. That part of the description is not accurate. Checked it with a measuring cup - you cannot put 8 oz. in the jar and use it to freeze or can - and that is what I wanted. I already have cases of these - plus the larger jars, and they are marked as to size and freeze/can. I wanted a full 8 oz useable size.....these are not that Only 4 oz useable for this purpose. Not recommend with this description as written.

Cracked around the rim/dented lid jars.

Was very excited as I got my delivery today. The first 2 jars I grabbed had cracks on them around the rim! Good thing I did not CUT my fingers! Checked the dozen and found a small crack on the inside of 1 jar and a dent on one lid. There are no glass piece in the box so it leads me to believe this is from the production/manufacturer aspect. So sad the jar was actually beautiful and perfect. I ordered 4 dozens of this jar and I am going to return it all because if there are small cracks here and there it will just break when you boil to sanitize them. Not Walmarts fault but they need to check on the supplier for the quality. This has wasted my time and more of my time when I physically bring 4 dozen back to walmart.

Steer Clear

These cracked in a low temp sous vide bath (150F), even when they were put in room temperature water and heated up gently. Many Amazon reviews note the same problem--cracking and breaking during canning or sous vide, and the bottoms falling out when serving. If you're just using them for storage, they'll probably be okay. But they're dangerous for heated applications--possible glass shards and broken edges. Terrible for families. Given that this is a widespread problem, I'd strongly recommend that Walmart stop selling them. Sadly, Ball doesn't appear to make a straight-sided 8oz wide mouth version--I say sadly, because every Ball jar I've tried (from their 4oz jars to their half gallon model), has performed flawlessly under much more extreme conditions.
