Works and looks nice

Gives much needed shade to my small pond. I took a few liriope from my yard and washed the roots well before planting, looks very nice. A tip- I used all gravel first time and it floated right below the surface. Then I used half vermiculite and finished off with gravel. I'm hoping a hard rain won't wash the vermiculite out, but since my pond is a pre formed it over flows when it rains hard so any vermiculite would float away and I could try more gravel on top. If you have room for a bigger one you'll have more plant choices. I went with something that wouldn't tip over when it grew top heavy

I put sweet potato vine

I put sweet potato vine in mine and placed it in the top of my standard-issue waterfall filter. With all the water, the plant gets bushy in all the right ways and neatly covers the plastic edges of the filter. Looks massively better than a fake rock cover. Extremely cool product!!!

Floating planters

My pond has no shelf for plants so these are perfect also give fish some shade.

Works well, but unattractive in the pond.

Does the job fine, and not too expensive. The downside is how it looks in the pond. It looks like a small black floating tyre, but hopefully this will not be too bad when the plant grows over the edge. Not attractive at all at the moment.

Prevents the annual problem of frogs pushing basket planters over and disturbing the contents, ( pond was deliberately built with frogs in mind), plus you can contain the more rapidly spreading marginals.

great for keeping water clear if your fish are constantly worrying your existing sunken plants. only problem is the price :( com'on laguna, it's just a polystyrene ring and a bag! otherwise these are great and i've moved all of my plants out of baskets and into these. highly recommended.
