Mesh allows seeds to get rain soaked

I purchased my feeder 3 years ago from a big box store. Everything still functions, nothing has broken. My biggest issue with this feeder is the mesh and the large feeder holes at the bottom. Everytime it rains all the seed gets soaked. Within a couple days I have sprouts in my feeder. I have to dump out all the seed, wash it and refill it. What a waste! The rain and the wind also push large amounts of seeds into the bottom tray to the point of major overflow. I had to remove all the ground cover under the feeder to be able to clean the seeds from the ground. Ants and mice hate me now.

These are great feeders…they last for years. They will hold any kind of seed to include thistle and because they are metal the squirrels can’t chew and destroy them.

Capacity is huge

Size? Wow, its huge capacity is overwhelming in weight and ability for a support rod to hold it up. One would pay a fortune just to keep it filled if they could lift it. Construction and quality? Just fine. Make sure you want one with that food capacity if you order.

Very good with one caveat

Durable large capacity feeder. Easy to fill. Suspend from swivel or length of chain to prevent wind or squirrels from spinning the cap off the top.

Nice and Sturdy

I am happy with this feeder. It is a good size to hold considerable seed for all my backyard birds. It seems sturdy and well made.

Large Capacity, Last a LONG time

build well, loads of birds, like all the wire and it will last a LONG time. We have bought two of these before in the last 30 years we have been at our place. Only reason why we need to replace is because the deer will use their head and tip the bird feeding and it falls on the ground and then, it will bend and break off the stands for the birds.

Best Feeder!

I've owned this feeder more than 10 yrs now! It's in perfect shape and withstands all weather here in Northwest Michigan. I would purchase again and also give as a gift.

Very well made large feeder. Partitioned into two compartments for two types of seeds.

I've used several kinds of feeders and this one is the best. My first one lasted 25 years before I dropped and bent it. The new one is the same sturdy model. Good metal (I think the screw & nut on the lid are brass). Easy to use & holds a few quarts.

Large capacity

I have purchased this design 3 times. My only complaint is the cover needs to be larger to protect the seed that collects in the tray from rain. Pros: holds a lot of seed and easy to fill and clean. Quite durable unless a raccoon gets a hold of it.

Love this Feeder

Bought this feeder to replace the exact same one that the racoons broke (not the feeder's fault). Love the capacity and how many feeding places there are on the feeder.

Looking for more great feeders for a lots of bird.

I have three of these and have used them for over 10 years. When I clean mine, I usually use the sprayer on the hose and turn it upside down and wash it down good.

Bird feeder looks good

Bird feeder looks well made. Only problem is tray at bottom has no perches for the birds. Also pegs for birds are too short for larger birds. In addition tray at bottom is too shallow and larger seeds feed too quickly and get knocked over the edges.

Adaption needed

These feeders are sturdy and hold a lot of feed. Unfortunately the squirrels use them more than birds. The week point is the top loop attachment that can and does come loose resulting in the feeder dropping and getting damaged. To combat this I put a double nut just under the lid so tightening the loop does not pull out the threaded screw inside the feeder.
