Just remember to wear gloves. I think this plant is awesome ?. The color is nice to me. Small, but I know it will grow nicely.

Honestly, I am not a true succulent person; I like lush landscape, but that is becoming harder to achieve since our Arizona summers are getting hotter and drier. Plus, as my family gets older, no one likes doing yard work either; the golden barrel cactus are low maintenance but need more water than recommended. So far, they still look good and are healthy; they replaced five other plants that did not hold up to the heat. As we refine the front and backyards for a cleaner, more modern look for our ranch style home, I hope they last for several years to come!

I have a very sunny spot in the yard, it has shade only in the morning, partially, so this plant is perfect! Also, I don’t want to have empty spots in my yard because of the raccoons and the cactus spikes is a great deterrent… I planted a number of different kind of cactus and put a little nice decorative fence around. It’s very pretty, clean and lovely to see!

The Golden Barrel cactus transplanted nicely into my yard, is healthy and is making quite a statement.

We bought 5 Golden Barrel Cactuses and they were half the price from the Nursery across the street, but just as large and in better health. They look amazing in our front yard.

i am starting to feel like these reviews are becoming an invasion of privacy. Whenever I buy anything from Home Depot, sometimes a little item like thumb tacks, i get a request to do a review, not once, but a second time if i do not answer the first review. It is getting to be too much. How does one review a $25 barrel cactus - what features stand out the most (the sharp needles), what do i like about it (it is attractive), how long have i had it (2 weeks), does it meet my expectations (YES if it lives, NO if it dies. I won't be able to answer this question until after the hot summer is over). I will say that the employees in the garden shop of the Palm Desert store are always helpful and courteous.
