I am using these strips to hold of solar lights on our lanai. The adhesive seems to last about a year in the Florida heat. The size and shape work perfectly for now. At some point I will decide on a more permanent solution… Like drilling holes in the aluminum frame.

Original hook same as the one referred to here failed after 4 days. second glue strip failed again. Tried one more time with a brand new hook, as no other product would work and this one appears to be working. Has been holding a three lb. wreath for a couple of weeks
I wish I paid attention to the other reviews

These are garbage. They did not work outdoors. They did not hold stuff under their weight. We had them on a covered entryway and they failed in 30 minutes. If we could we would return. Maybe we can return. But just pure plastic being wasted.
Holds a Christmas wreath on the outside of our window, no problem...
I have nothing but good things to say about the Command 4 lb. Large Clear Outdoor Window Hook. It performs exactly as expected. We used them to hang wreaths on the outside of our windows and the worked flawlessly. Obviously, make sure you thoroughly clean whatever surface you are adhering these to to ensure maximum adhesion.

These have worked perfectly for me every year. I’ve noticed many negative comments & I can’t help but think most of those are from people not following the directions to a T. You need to clean your window, then wipe the area where you’ll be sticking the hanger from, with alcohol- let it dry, push them on for 30 sec and wait an hr before actually using them. I think they’re wonderful for hanging all 4 of our outdoor wreaths on windows that are fully exposed to the elements.
As stated in several of the comments, I also experienced what I thought was a product failure; holiday wreath falling from the window after mounting. I also followed the directions completely, including cleaning the window with alcohol. As you might expect I was frustrated and disappointed, however in a conversation with a customer service representative, who was very professional and empathized with my dilemma, he asked if the wreath was within the stated weight limits; "sure" I responded. Truth in fact was that I wasn't absolutely sure of the exact weight of the wreath, the conversation gave me a reason to weigh the wreath. I was surprised to find that the wreath weighed 7 lbs. In my case, those hook installations and hangings that are within the stated weight limits are functioning as advertised, the hooks that were asked to support weights greater than their stated rating failed; no surprise here. Here is my advice, weigh your hangings to properly match the size of the hook with the "hook capacity".

We used these to hang expensive, lighted, computer programmed wreaths that flashed in time to our music. Each wreath weighed just under 2 lbs. I followed the 3M directions perfectly, from cleaning with alcohol to waiting the correct time between each stage of application. I should also note I am in South Louisiana, with very mild temperatures, and applied both times on dry days. After ALL of our wreaths fell and one had been BROKEN and replaced, I recleaned the windows and began application again. I thought perhaps somehow I had done something wrong, even though I knew I had been very careful to follow directions the first time. For the second application, I waited 3 hours after applying the tape to the windows and then another 3 hours after applying the hooks to the tape before hanging our wreaths. Over the next week, one by one, the wreaths all fell again. The failures seemed to be evenly split, with half occurring between the hook and the tape and half between the tape and the window. The wreaths are now hanging with a combination of the 3M hook (I had to purchase extra large outdoor strips to hang them a third time) AND a brass hook drilled at the top of each window with fishing line as extra support. So... basically, these hooks are now just keeping the wreath hovering over the correct place on each window, but the weight is predominantly being supported by the fishing line. Even with the extra support of the fishing line, the hook for one of the wreaths has now fallen off for a THIRD time... and now the wreath is hanging from the fishing line alone. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Don't waste your money or risk your decor. Just skip the 3M "outdoor" hooks and use drilled hooks with fishing line.
They changed the hook and now they don't work
We have hung the same wreaths on our windows for years and always used these 4 lb.
[Rewarded Review] Did not hold up my small wreath
I wanted to use these hooks to hang some small holiday wreaths on our glass windows at our house. I cleaned the window surface & my husband applied the hooks as directed. Later that day, my wreaths were on the ground and the hooks were no longer attached to the window. Luckily there was an extra strip I could use for each of my hooks. I personally installed the hook this time following the directions. I waited until the next day to hang my wreaths. I thought it was a success. The wreaths were up for about 2 weeks when they fell again along with the hooks unattached to the window. At this point it is 2 more weeks until it is Christmas. I have no more strips so I either need to buy more or find a different solution. I'm very disappointed this did not work out for me.
[Rewarded Review] Doesn’t stick to the window
I am a big fan of 3M hooks. I use all the sizes, small to large, including their picture hanger systems. I was thrilled to find an outdoor hook for glass to hang my seasonal wreaths. However, I can’t get the hook to stick to the glass. I started with the small hook. It fell off within 30 minutes of holding the wreath. So I bought the 4 pound hook. The same thing happened. The glass is smooth and clean. I waited over night to hang the wreath. I don’t know what trick is needed to make these work.
[Rewarded Review] poor shelf life?
Hello. I purchased this believing it would be perfect to hang my Christmas bow on a main window. The item weighed barely a pound so I opted for the large capacity 4lb version. I also liked that they were rated for -20F through 125 which confirmed it was the better choice versus suction cup hangers. I used alcohol and followed the instructions. I exaggerated them and pressed the strip and then the hook for several minutes versus just 30 seconds. I also waited for approx 90 mins versus just an hour. The hook lasted a few days with the first strip and then failed. Then again a couple of days with the 2nd. In both cases the strip came off the glass and the plastic hook itself. I can see a reason why it came off the glass but why would their strip come off their own plastic hanger? I rated them 3 stars because to their credit Command Customer Service offered to send me replacement strips right away. They did mention via chat there is a shelf life, but I just bought this from Lowes. They also confirmed that despite there being a shelf life, there is no best date used by or expiration date on the package. I am happy to be receiving a replacement set, however, it will be too late for this Holiday season. And, if the shelf-life is only one year, they will expire before next Holiday season.
Faulty product. DO NOT RECOMMEND
Bought two of these at Lowe's today to hang up our holiday wreath on our glass front door. The first time I followed the instructions to the T and waited an hour for the product to adhere to the door before gently placing my wreath up there. 30 minutes later I get a Ring notification that someone was at my door. Nope, the wreath had fallen. Thinking I made a mistake somewhere along the way, I started to troubleshoot. Weighed the wreath: 1.7 pounds (well under the 4 pound limit)...had my husband install the second hook in case it was user error...waited 3 hours in case I'd jumped the gun at just the recommended 1 hour. Hung up the wreath and it fell less than 2 minutes later. Ugh, what a waste of $10. And one of the bulbs on my wreath broke the second time too, adding insult to injury. Maybe the products were faulty or maybe they were sitting on the shelf at Lowe's too long but either way I absolutely do not recommend this product.
[Rewarded Review] Doesn’t stick
I bought 2 hooks yesterday. I couldn’t get either one to stick. The hook peeled off the glass after 5 seconds. The backing was very difficult to get off the adhesive strip which pulled it off the glass. The ones I bought a few years ago were great. Fortunately I still had adhesive strips left over from those hooks. I used those strips instead and so far so good. Sorry, 3M. You really missed the mark with these. Go back to the original adhesive strips. They worked great and still do!
Outdoor Command Hooks
Outdoor use, up to four pounds, I don't think so. I cleaned our glass storm door with windex then used a dry paper towel to ensure I had a clean surface. Our 13" wreath fell after a few minutes. I cleaned the glass surface again and used the second adhesive strip making double sure I was installing it correctly. The wreath fell again after a few minutes. I bought a suction cup hanger rated for two pounds and the wreath has been hanging on it for a few days now. I am concerned about the suction cup when the weather turns cold.
Hook does not stay adhered to adhesive
I love Command products which is why I was happy to find this large clear hook to hang a wreath on our new front door. Unfortunately, this particular product doesn't quite meet those standards. As many above have noted, the hook falls from the door even though the wreath is well under the weight limit. The adhesive strip stays attached to the glass just fine. It's the adhesive to hook contact that is failing. I followed the directions exactly and it works for a few days, then falls again. I have used both supplied strips now with the same result. When it's working, it's perfect and I love it, but when the wreath ends up on the floor again, it's quite frustrating. Wondering if I have to go back to the dreaded suction cups.

So far so good on a front door with a lightweight wreath. I did wait a couple days between sticking it to the door and hanging something on it. Love that it's clear and therefore unobtrusive. Sheltered by porch roof, so the "waterproof" part of the description really hasn't been tested, but it seemed safer to go with it. I'm going to try a pair of these to hang a window feeder this winter -- one that usually hangs on with suction hooks but blows down or pops loose a few times each season. Will report back!
Fell off twice and broke an expensive wreath
I cleaned the glass on our door, let it sit for 10 mins to dry, then applied the Command Hook exactly as the directions said. I've used Command Hooks before with no problem. This time, it fell right off the door after about 5 minutes. The wreath was messed up, but salvageable, so I got a new adhesive and hung it again. I'm not sure how much time passed before it fell because I was in the back room, but less than a half hour. This time, the wreath was destroyed. $60 and destroyed the first time I tried to hang it. I checked the packaging and it weighed 4.2 lbs, well below the max listed for the hook.
[Rewarded Review] Clear, Sturdy Hook for Outside Windows
Nice sturdy, 4 lb hook, can be used with the "Command Outdoor Clear Large Strips", (one extra strip is supplied and refills are available). The instructions indicate, "ONLY USE ON WINDOWS. Failure to follow instructions carefully may cause damage." The design of the hook is simple and transparent, however it does allow water, moisture etc. to collect in the hollow base of the hook. This limits the use of the hook to windows under covered outdoor areas such as porches or overhangs. Still, the hook has a hefty 4 lb weight limit, and an inconspicuous appearance.
[Rewarded Review] Easy To Use Hook - Add Beauty To A Window
My first thought when I saw this item was to hang a bird feeder from a window on the outside. I thought it through and realized that it might be a lot of work refilling the feeder since the weight capacity was a total of four pounds. I then decided that I would ad a sun catcher to the window instead. With this application a simply cleaned the outer window with alcohol and was ready to apply the adhesive very quickly. Within a couple of minutes I was hanging the vibrant colored glass piece sun catcher and enjoying the suns rays casting color throughout the room. This has been up for a about four weeks in below freezing and above freezing temperatures and has held up just fine. This is a simple and inexpensive solution to add to any window in your home. I suggest you give one a try and I bet you come back to order another.
