It is not too sturdy for heavier plates, etc. I used it for paint cans, but I had to put the quart cans instead because it sags. You cannot stack several heavier plates.

Love this wire rack. I use it inside my indoor greenhouse cabinet that i also purchased from IKEA. It helps me organize my houseplants inside my cabinet, and helps provides more space for plants to grow and add into my collection.
